Is there any one group of people that realize together as one that John should be understood for what he is- one of the finest - songwriter first, but also singer; acoustic ; performers; players
Thanks for posting and Jules has so many talented guests! Love John Hiatt and the Goners with the amazing Sonny Landreth. I'm 64 and introduced my wife of 18 months to them and she loves them too! Going to see them and Buddy Guy in Milwaukee in July. Imagine, Buddy, Sonny and John all on the same stage! Yippie Ki!
That sounds like a fantastic show! I have seen John Hiatt many times and he is a treasure. I couldn't see this clip anywhere else on RUclips so had to make it available. Thanks for watching!
@@ThatSeventiesRockFan Nice going, much appreciated! Jools Holland (ex Squeeze member) has a great show and format with the circle of musicians . I've only seen Hiatt once , 2018, and he had Sonny and the Goners with him. My wife had never heard of Hiatt before we met and she is a big fan now! Same with Bighead Todd who we saw 2/20/2022, the last concert we were at. So 70s rock fan, you must like Fleetwood Mac pre Buckingham/Nicks? Where are you located?
If you know that he is singing this about how his wife took her life, your heart just has to break. I can't believe the courage to write this song and stand up on a stage and sing. If you like this, please listen to the I'm With Her version, also live: ruclips.net/video/Hz2umiStAY4/видео.html
I had just listened to album version (on spoti, out of the blue, coz i heard some mandolin on TV and got the urge) and then came across this, back to back. Didn't know this background. Song often near brought tears, did this time for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I recently read that fact, and I never knew it. He had just recorded Have a Little Faith in Me, and learned the next morning she had taken her life. Their daughter was only 1. He is a treasure - I have seen him many times, and he has never disappointed.
You're so right. One of the most courageous performances. I imagine the writing of the song may have been cathartic in some way? Trying to make sense of something so sad. I've been a fan for 37 years and only just saw this tonight! What an artist. What a guy. Been lucky enough to have seen him twice and he was cool, entertaining, as bright as the sun and just outstanding both times. He's a one-off. The songwriting, the guitar playing, that voice ffs!! God bless John Hiatt and keep him safe. He's a treasure and I love him.
John Hiatt, best performer in My wiev - and maybe theres a bit of troubels DOWN AROUND MY PLACE as he sings - but it makes sense when its John Hiatt that explaines it if you get my driftt
A brilliant, under-appreciated singer/songwriter/musician. Cant wait to see him in 2024!
Wonderful musician and always brilliant live.
Hiatt is one of America's best writers and performers. This is proof.
He is a national treasure!
John is such a masterful songwriter. The opening lines of this song prove that.
He's an absolute treasure.

He's a special artist, very few like him. Very underappreciated. the nearest equivalent would be Nick Lowe and of course they have worked together!
John Hiatt has the magic touch here…both in his singing and beautiful playing. ❤️
He is a treasure.
You bet!!
JH has a vast catalog of amazing work. A true American treasure.
He is amazing indeed.
Haunting and lonely - my all time fav song writer
The background story to this song is heartbreaking.
A song writer and storyteller of the highest order. And don't forget that voice!! Unique in the greatest sense of the word. Go Johnny go......
such an amazing performance!
He's one of the best performers I've ever seen.
Such a brilliant song...thank you for posting.....cannot believe how well he played it live, too! Awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it! Such a clip deserved to be seen. John Hiatt really is a national treasure.
This is what greatness is all about
