I would love this to make quick trips with my 1/2 ton while my 1ton is busy doing other things like hauling cattle or hay. A dump trailer like this would allow me to move material for road maintenance, garden material, or fuel wood collecting.
I think a 6x12 excatly like it’s built is perfect
Plus 4 foot sides
Perfect size trailer for a small homestead!
That’s a beefy trailer for sure. My favorite feature is the dual purpose tailgate !!!!
@ 17:54 This unit is so Heavy duty it could be overloaded safely ........ and these folks at Texas Pride are the best they Love what they do.
"overloaded safely"?? that is the definition of an Oxymoron. 100 bucks says you drive a Furd Ranger.
Why didn't they fully weld the 2 floor seams instead of stitch welding? Over time material will catch at the joins. Apart from that, I do like the trailer.
One change I would make is take a piece of angle Iron and weld it to the top of the top tubes with the 90°facing up this causes any dirt/gravel that falls on the top rails to fall in or off the trailer... Old trick from driving quarry dump trucks (haulin rock from 3/8minus to 30 ton a piece)
Love the trailer JD. Seems like it’s a very well built unit. Can’t wait to see what you use it for.
I want that for home ownership! don't get me wrong I'll be towing it with a 1 ton but I love that setup!
I asked for a quote. I need one of these. It’s perfect.
Texas Pride, Build it for the masses. I need this trailer.
I’m 100% looking for a trailer exactly like this
AWESOME trailer plus all the Bells & Whistles that make it so much more appealing !
That's a super nice trailer
Very nice very well built.
I want one! Would be exactly what I would design if I had the chance!! They should make this.
Very nice 👍🏽 and well built
Beautiful trailer
That's sweet. I've got one of their 7k dump trailers. Imma need a price on that.
TOTALLY AWESOME
Awesome trailer only thing I could add make the rear door usable for ramps also. But what a well built high quality trailer!!!
It looks great. Matches the color of my truck. I wish I had an excuse to have one.
Awesome trailer
Makes me drool!
no more tbars is great , moving bed mounted D rings is great if all the new dumps have that divorced ramp mount that would also be great ( current models have a channel welded the the dump that fills with whatever you dump ) I hope they stepped up the paint process or started using weldable primer in areas that can’t be painted
4 ft sides for volume be a nice option and flat sides be nice for signage.
This is perfect will look into getting one. Only thing needed is spray in bed liner like Line-X. Take care.
I always thought spraying in a bedlining material was a cool idea until they informed me that you don't want anything that will prevent material from smoothly sliding out.
I'd still like to see a contractors combo dump trailer. An enclosed area with side opening doors in the front for tool storage and a dump bed at the rear for small demo jobs and material hauling. Maybe 16 to 20 feet long.
That’s awesome. If they’d offer that in a 7x14 with 7k axles, at that height, or close, I’d have to have one as the height of even a low profile 14k dump trailer is a pain sometimes.
It is very well built.
So this trailer was made for a 1/2 ton pickup, but can haul around 3.5 ton payload. Might be good for a small time landscaper who has a mini ride on skid steer/loader. The floor plate should have been one piece so nothing gets caught in those cracks as time progresses. Side walls too low, you are going to be using those stake pockets. Fenders should be attached to the dump body so that crap doesn't lodge itself between the fender and the body scratching the body or hindering the closing as all that overflow material rests on the frame where the dump body needs to rest. It also eliminates a crush point as people put their grease gun on the fender and lower the the trailer and the stake pocket mashes their Milwaukee Battery Powered Grease gun into the fender. Wiring needs to be inside the box steel frame to prevent weeds and rats from chewing up the wire.
This is sick
I love the tarp system 2 windows in 14 months in Texas. Tarp is necessary!
That is just what I was planning on having my Friends Welding shop build this year. A few changes here & there.
Having had many trailers in my life, If I was in the market for a new all-around trailer, I would strongly consider purchasing this trailer.
My son is in home remodeling and we were just talking about this with my 2022 1500 duramax
Hope they make this a production model.
Prefect for my 1/2 ton. I hope they build them.
I’ll take one!!
Hi JD after seeing your first lowboy gravity tilt fifth wheel trailer. I had to have one. Its an awesome trailer. Thanks for doing that video it help me decide what trailer to buy. Texas Pride rocks. I’m not buying a dump trailer. Even tho I sure could use one.
That trailer is awesome!!! I need it in black, with 2’ sides and 12’ long!
Agree with you. I can’t afford the current prices
I want one!!!
Nice for sure. With all the thought into this, why not power down vs gravity?
Here's the problem I see with towing it with a Half-ton.
Halt-tons require a Weight Distribution hitch towing over 5,000 lbs. There is no way to install a WD hitch onto the tongue of this trailer, even if you welded the brackets on. The battery box is in the way.
Ok lil bite . I want one how much for one like it.
Used to haul dump trailers. It doesn't extend high enough for construction materials and dirt to slide out. Needs to be almost vertical. It should also have a winch for hauling a car 🚗. Overall a great trailer.
It extends much much more than was shown in the video.
What kinda car are you Hauling thats shorter than 10 feet? 🤔
@@2004jessiehs Just like you don't have multiple pickup trucks but have 1 performing multiple tasks that trailer should be little longer capable of hauling a car even if you drop the payload to 6000.
I finally was able to buy a dump trailer just at the end of the summer last year. What a huge asset for my property. I've wanted a dump trailer since before the pandemic. There aren't any Texas Pride dealers near me so I bought an Iron Bull 7x14 14k GVWR dump. The biggest thing I like about it is the 3-way tailgate. It opens as barn doors, spreader and standard (like a pickup truck tailgate). The biggest thing I needed was 10k cargo capacity. This trailer you have here is really useful. I can see this being in high demand! I can't wait to see what projects you have in store for it. Thanks JD!
I want one
So hypothetically if this were to be manufactured for sale, how much would it cost?
Wow, nice trailer they should really consider mass producing that
the main thing i did not like is the tarp is unprotected. the second thing is the jack. make an electric jack std. (as far back as the axels are there is quite a bit of weight on the jack when loaded). the safety chains need to be removeable and welded clevis' UNDER the frame. would like to see a 3 way tail gate. tail gate needs a cam lock on top so the top doesn't bulge and bend while spreading when the load hits the tailgate (very important), would like to see a chain box in the first box section under the dump body. nice concept.
I bet before long he'll have a electric tongue jack on it. Nice trailer
Almost perfect, add a hydraulic trailer jack and you are there!
I'm not a trailer aficionado but with the axles so far back it seems you would really struggle to maintain only 10% on tongue. With a 7000lb payload I could see you maxing out tow tongue capacity even with 10k tow capacity. Thoughts? Maybe a good test for future video - with 7000lb of aggregate loaded forward/center/rearward what tongue weight do you end up with.
Only needs a set of polished Alcoa rims for my taste! Otherwise, perfect.
Dang, just as I was starting to look them up to see how much this would cost, you revealed they aren't planning on producing this. Not sure I could have gotten one up here in Ohio, but I was curious.
I want one in a 16k 16ft
You said Caliche! That's how you know you're a true Texan. I had a 450 and trailers to match. Now I also have a Ridgeline. Trailers for the Ridge is a market no trailer manufacturer is filling. I need all sorts of trailers fory my ridge and no one truly serves the sub 6k Market. It's a huge market! Make some money guys.
A New concept will be a single axle dump trailer see if they can make it
I noticed that the most popular dump configuration in the 10K GVWR class is ~6.5' (77") x 12', sometimes 10', but people prefer the longer one, i.e. 12'. Unfortunately, at 14 feet, even low-profile ones are usually 2x7K axles, which usually gives 14K GVWR, which is a pity, because some users without a CDL license would need 14 feet to transport, for example, a tractor and then light, but large-volume items such as branches.
The 6x10 configuration usually has 7K GVWR, but here it is worth considering how profitable it is to pull an empty trailer weighing 1.5 tons (because dump trailers always go in one direction empty ;-) for something other than loose heavy materials - mainly for this In my opinion, this is the presented trailer.
If you do not need a trailer for such materials, it is worth considering a rare but well-known type of trailer - the so-called scissor trailer - can act as a semi-dump and at the same time weighs ~ 1,600 pounds, which with one 7K axle (14 ply tires) gives over 5K pounds of load capacity. The purchase, use, maintenance and depreciation of such a trailer is lower and the profile of the trailer is even lower.
Scissor trailers additionally have their axles moved further forward (due to their inclination during unloading), which requires greater attention to weight distribution during loading, but results in less load on the tongue of the trailer, which is important for half tons.
I don't know why people use this type of trailer so little (you can build it yourself to any height) - not all types of loads require a large angle of inclination for unloading, and the versatility of this type of trailer is high with a 2-3 times lower cost of purchase and use compared to dump trailers.
Is there a hot dip galvanizing option?
What about stainless steel or aluminum option?
Thank you.
Does Texas Pride use good quality powder coating to paint their dump trailers?
Egh, 2’ wall and send it. Nice trailer though.
Ok how do I get one in comiefornia
How much is it and where/when can I get it?
You should probably watch the last 4 minutes again.
Tongue weight?
The most obvious question is what is the price?
How much??
Very Nice, I have to ask how much?
Not sure honestly. I would guess around $8-9k since most normal dump trailers this size (6x10) are around $7k
My ex lives in Madisonville
Stop, collaborate, and listen! 😂 ok corny! I was going to say no suspension equalizer. But I am surprised at not going with torsion axles. And for me I don’t know why but I wish the fenders were either mounted to the dump box or has the inside. And I do not like how the seam in the bed has that gap. Great place for rust to form. I would also want it to sit a bit higher, my property isn’t all that smooth and flat! What ever happened to the dump trailer give aways? I saw one video of the deliveries but never saw another or saw winners?
Hello! Good question on the axles. I'll talk more about the reasoning behind them in another video, but the main reason is the need for weight equalization on such a short trailer. It would be very easy to overload an axle on something this short, and overloading tir tongue weight as well.
@@BigTruckBigRV EXACTLY!!!
The axles seem too far back for me. I would be concerned with overloading a large SUV tongue weight.
Remember, the overall length of this trailer is only around 14', which means placing the axles forward any more can cause sway issues when loaded
Whats the perfect trailer for a ½ton, a small single axle utility trailer like 5x10. That dump trailer will overload a ½ ton no problem. Yeah it will tow it but good luck stopping it load
It still looks a bit nose-heavy for a 1/2 ton when fully loaded
Nice trailer except for where the floor is welded. Big gap in between the welds. I like how Diamond C does there dump trailer floors
So youll only tow a 6000lb rv with a half ton but youll tow a 10000lb dump?
You haven't watched my channel obviously to understand why. I've said in dozens of videos that utility and dump trailers give you the ability to position and balance loads which gives far more flexibility to tow at or near a trucks maximum rating. RVs are largely static loads without that flexibility.
You are correct. Then again, if'n you were to look at your trailering label on the door jamb, I bet your babymax Denali is close to 8500lbs max for a conventional trailer. Braking comes into play, not just what that truck will pull, which it will outpull the capacity label.
There is no reason not to have an overbuilt trailer for the tow vehicle. Just beware of Mr. DOT.
@@gemarsh1absolutely. My max tow is 8,800lbs with 1450lbs of payload. So I'd never go beyond that. However, many trucks I review go well above those numbers. This trailer is great for giving me flexibility.
It's not just the weight you need to consider. An RV has much higher frontal square footage which causes more wind resistance, particularly at highway speed. This dump trailer also has a lower center of gravity. I can understand why someone would tow a heavier dump trailer than a RV or enclosed trailer.
Been watching since June 2019. Been pulling trailers for 30+ years and hauling truck campers for 20+. I get different loads and trailers tow and haul differently. 6K to 10K is a 67% increase. I don't think I'd pull 10K behind a half ton. We all have to acess our own rigs to make the call what is safe. Peace!
A 1/2 ton dump trailer is useless! Shoot even Harbor Freight trailers carry more than a 1000 pounds!!
Good luck with that!
Texas pride trailers is a joke
Based on the details in your comment I can see why you'd say that... 🤔
