Let me say nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, his mistakes was obviously he didn’t take the turn wide enough. We all learn from our mistakes(hopefully). Before you judge him, remember you made mistakes too and you didn’t get judged for them. How can one judge when he makes mistakes himself. Stay humble everyone

Your response is misleading, to begin with. Of course no one is perfect. That has been a fact since man has been civilized. There are mistakes that are obvious and mistakes that are made due to a lack of training. Who is talking about judging anyone? Unless you were in the cab while the driver was making this turn, you need to step back and move on since there is nothing you can do to help.

These rigs cost upwards of $200,000.00 including the trailer. This is a rookie mistake. Well, not really a mistake, it was a bad decision. He failed to determine a safe turning radius. That rig is about 70 feet long . Really stupid move.

Not being facetious here.I felt
kinda bad for him.I absolutely positively know that within 3 months he is going to bang something.

It is important to get good training. The one thing that any trainer should emphasize is that when backing or turning corners, you do it slowly and WATCH THE MIRRORS.
If you aren't sure, get out and check. You arent saving time by ignoring these rules and winding up like this poor driver.

It is not the driver's truck. It is a company truck. The driver does not have authorization. Also, Some businesses have signs posted in regards to recording devices and where they are prohibited -- No Cells Phones allowed on the dock, for instance. Privacy is a touchy subject and many people do not understand that our brains are recording devices. I can remember DOT numbers and such. So, when someone is run over at the fuel island and the driver flees, there had better a statute or something that defines the lines of privacy. Otherwise, video, audio, and still photos would be inadmissible in court. There are monetization and copywrite laws that may require someone's permission. However, a public video of space that can be viewed from a public area has no grounds for a lawsuit.

It does not matter how many millions of safe miles you have driven.... NOBODY is exempt from a moment of blind stupidity, and NOBODY is immune, no matter HOW safe they are. Regardless of how many decades you have driven safely with no incidents, you are still vulnerable to one of these moments. ANY driver who doe not admit this is purely incompetent and should have his/her CDL revoked for senility. There NEVER has been, and NEVER WILL BE a "perfect" driver. EVER. Many come close, but NOBODY, past, present OR future, holds, that title, except for the delusional.
For every 10 million mile safe driver, there will ALWAYS be somebody in their rear view that will disagree with that driver's safety practices, having witnessed that "safe" driver's moment of weakness first hand, then watching that "perfect driver" just drive on into the sunset, possibly having no idea what damage they caused, so in their mind, it never happened... Another "perfect" day.
In the real world, there are good drivers, bad drivers, mediocre drivers, terrible drivers, and yes, there ARE excellent drivers. One defining characteristic of an excellent driver is the recognition of their own vulnerability, combined with the ability to minimize that weakness. It is impossible to avoid a problem forever if you don't even Acknowledge the problem even exists.
Bottom line is, EVERYBODY makes mistakes, and the best time to make them... is when nobody is looking... or recording... And leaves no evidence of any such mistake ever occurring.

Here's a tip. Go to any shipper and see where the turns are. Youll know not where to go. A lot of shippers and receivers leave that stuff just like it is because they want you to know to avoid it.
    Its a warning..

That's just poor awareness on the drivers part. There was plenty of room to safely make that turn. Accidents are things you don't expect to happen. Making a turn and understanding how the trailer follows the tractor is driver 101. This is just poor drivers skill and awareness.

I feel sorry for this guy , the humiliation especially the drivers who are docked watching this and chatting on the CB as I have witnessed past incidents before my eyes. I was hit while parked and the driver had his head down the whole time. I gave that rookie some dignity and said to him “ learn from this” and hopefully no more incidents. Sometimes they go years without a scratch and then there are those who are just a magnet for constant disaster. I’ve been to this place and seen many near misses and this is not the first time I’ve seen a truck do this. As for the bill? It’s gonna cost this driver and he will be the butt of all the jokes because at this drivers terminal, EVERYONE will know about it and rag on them for weeks. Stay safe everyone!

Seeing this reminds me of taking my time driving my rig carefully thru tight spaces. there are some shippers and consignees that are not designed to handle truck traffic. But hey, we are professional drivers. just taking your time backing into tight spots and no problem.

yup there’s a warehouse that i know that has one loading dock and make things worst it’s right next to a 7 lane street with a middle turning lane in the middle. you can only approach from south to north and back up in a angle going south west. drivers usually park right in the middle turn lane and wait for all 6 driving lanes to clear so they can get angled blocking almost all lanes just to back in the dock. this dock is also right next to a busy intersection. sometimes they be seating there waiting for an hr or more unless they get lucky and the cars stop to let them do their thing.
