we have the same keeb and almost the same modding method. the only difference is that I have gateron g pro 2.0 yellow switches and installed durock poron switch pads and durock switch films 0.3mm and used some cheap silicone mixture as dampener. Yours sound almost the same as mine. Love it!
Do you have any issues with the tape since it sits above the battery? I want to try doing the tempest mod also and some videos say that you should use electrical tape, Do you think Masking - masking - electrical on the vicinity of the battery is ok?
i think it's okay since i watched many videos doing the same and so far i have no issue with it. however, i haven't watched vids using electrical tape yet so im not sure.
@@_lianamelissa thank you! Pa the only problem I have with my leaven k610 is that it’s hard to pull out their switches 😭 Thank you again for your answer ^^
is it really safe to put tape mod in rk71? i just read an article that says tape modding on keyboards with battery have fire hazards im interested in keyboard modding and i find your video interesting because i had the same keyboard haha
i'm not aware of that im sorry but in my opinion, if you're not comfortable with modding keebs with battery then don't do it, for your peace of mind :)

8:16 it's not this tape to do a holee mod ... it's just paper tape, it will peel off when it reacts with the grease, you need a silk plaster from the pharmacy called band aid, it has a completely different waterproof adhesive and does not peel off after reacting with the grease

Hi, Im desperate trying to find a new battery for my RK71(mine got stuffed) and they don't give the specs, i really need to know the height of the battery since there's no space at all, do you know the measures for the battery?
My rk71 is gonna arrive today which is my 1st mechanical keyboard. I really loved your keyboard thocc sounds. Love from India, please do keep posting tips for modding keyboards for beginners.
@@chizuru1999 i don't understand what you mean but i think pressing fn + esc will show the backtick `. Also, if you press fn + shift + esc it will show ~. I hope this helps huhu
@@_lianamelissa Yes, fn + esc = ` (backtick) but i want to press ctrl + backtick. And fn + ctrl just activates that functional mode of the keyboard if you know what I mean.
it took me several days to finish because i ran out of lube so i waited for the new one to arrive as well as the keycaps which also arrived late but if ever i have complete tools, maybe i can finish it for like 1-2 days only since the only one that took so much of my time was the lubing of the switches :)
there's like a little lock there in the wire that connects the two and when you press it, it will detach. it kinda looks like the square thing in zip ties.
i used 2 kinds of foam. the black one was EVA foam which was placed in the case under the pcb and the white one was a PE foam which is a lot thinner that's why it's okay to just push the switch into it.
you can use any kind of tape that don't leave adhesive like masking tape but the best option would be painter's tape which is the one I used here. Never use super sticky tapes such as scotch tape and packing tape and such!!

it really doesn't matter on how much effort you spend by modding it.. you'll still get a terrible experience with it cause rk is useless keyboard and it's made from cheap plastic.. it's not even worth the price but they are just expensive because of the 5 pins gateron supporter pcb

Quick question, did yours have the battery in it?
What did you cut with the nail clippers?
Do i really need to force the screw of the metal plate to penetrate the tape or should i just leave a space for the stand offs of the screws?

at 12:30 do we just let the switches puncture through the foam to put them in the socket?
the pe foam is just 0.5mm so it's okay to just puncture the switches through it

what is the song at the beginning of the video?

hot swappable universal or no? 3 or 5 pin switch for rk71?
it's hot swappable, 3 pin and 5 pin compatible

hello, im planning to mod my rk 71, where did u learn how to 😭
hi! i just watched tons of vids from youtube about modding keebs as well as modding rk71 :)
What is the case foam and Pe foam called and where did you get it?
it's called PE foam and EVA foam. I got it online thru Shopee :)
@@_lianamelissa how thick was your EVA case foam ? 3 mm or 1.5 mm? Thanks in advance :) ! Greatttt sounding keyboard btw
@@l.kguanwei7500 it's 2mm. Thanks! :)
What do you think of the matcha greens?
matcha greens are nice and very comfy to press. if you're looking for a quiet switch, then I can highly recommend matcha greens
Wait so with the foams in you just insert the switches ??? I’m confused
I used the EVA foam as case foam then I put the PE foam above the PCB, just underneath the switches
May i know what's the yellow tape?
it's painter's tape
What brand is the keycaps
i just bought it from Shopee :)
