Welcome to the rabbit hole, don't fall too deep. You may not think this now but you'll eventually come to terms with spending $400-700 on a keyboard case.
This was an excellent review! I love the honest weighing of both the pros and cons of each feature as well as the detail given in this video. This helped me make my decision.
Nice review! Thank you for the close up on the key caps, I've been watching reviews of this keyboard and I still hadn't seen them up close up until now.
i've been using this keyboard for a while and here are my pros and cons. Pros: Looks really good, the RGB is nice but I keep it on white mode. the feeling of the brown switches is really nice, and allows me to type above previous average. The arrows and page up and page down are really good because it gives you a feeling of a 60 percent, but much of the functionality of a tkl. Cons: The keyboard's bluetooth function has stopped working for me. This could be a faulty model, but it happened around 5-6 months in. The build quality isn't the best, but it does feel the best for the price. The enter key is a little rattly and doesn't have a premium sound. Overall, this keyboard is great. It feels great and works really well for the price. But, the errors for my model, such as the bluetooth and the enter key, this keyboard isn't what was directly advertised. I'd say go for it, because I really do enjoy this keyboard, just make sure your model works.
Bummer on the bluetooth problem. If it doesn't work at all, have you thought about removing the battery and adding foam to the case? I was playing around with that and it seems to help improve the keyboard's sound. As for the rattling enter key, you can lift up the stabs from the plate and apply additional lube to smooth things out. Thanks for the comment and long term feedback on the keyboard!
Have been using it for about 1 year now and yeah, the bluetooth mode has been a little wonky as of recently. I think it's a general issue of the RK71 and not just a faulty item. But other than that everythings ok given the price point of the kb
In indonesia there's this local brand that made a clone of RK71 called Daxa M71. Which is the exact same thing (even the software) but better! It's got 3-5 pins hotswappable board, comes with stock PBT caps, and has gateron yellows option! The best part it's that it only costs 60$. And there's also a wired version that has all of the above feature except the bluetooth connection and has outemu instead of gaterons for only 40$. It's currently the most popular low budget mech in my country
just so yall know, this keyboard is 34 dollars right now on amazon for black friday. keep in mind its only a cool blue tone lighting, but still a steal if you lube this board.
hi, i just bought this keyboard thanks to your review! anyway, i'm having difficulty downloading the software but i'll try again. how will you know if your keyboard battery is low? i prefer using the bluetooth connection. also, how do you charge it? just use the USB that comes with it and plug it?
I agree that pudding is aesthetically pleasing if you seek max rgb setup. The only thing i am not maxed out fan of it is for it being thinish and thus sounding more on higher pitch side of things
I'm new to mech keyboards so I hope this isn't a stupid question: If I keep the switch OFF, can I use it wired and still keep all the functionalities? Or does it have to be turned on regardless of wired or wireless config?
You can use it wired just turn it off, so the computer will recognized your keyboard. You can't use wired mode when the keyboard is on only turn it on when using bluetooth
I bought this keyboard for $46 on ‘taobao’ (Chinese website) and shipping is around $4^ but depends on where u live, it’s cheaper cause it’s from the factory.
Very good video! This keyboard is a good steal for a price, the switches are... interesting, but it's 60$. Ont thing I would have liked to see was a Bluetooth latency test (cuz gamers) but besides that the video was very professional.
I literally just got this keyboard a few hours ago! I got the red switches for roughly around $20. My only gripe is that whenever I switch to bluetooth mode, then switch back to wired mode and hook up the included USB Type C cable, the software doesn't recognize my keyboard being connected and just says "No Gaming Device Found" Workaround is that I have to reset the keyboard to factory settings, then connect it back to my PC. :(
OMG ok, I just finished watching the entire video! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING THE SOFTWARE SIDE! That's why the software doesn't see the keyboard even if it was connected. Lol. Left the FN+P on another state. Lol.
Just bought this last night to go with a new PC build 🥰 found this really helpful thank you! Can you toggle the side LEDs off completely while the RGB on the keys stays on?
Does anyone know if I can change the keycaps to sakura-themed keycaps aka custom keycaps with the rk71? Just want to know before I do consider buying this keyboard and having the keycaps not fit. I know the rk61 can fit custom keycaps but not sure about the rk71.
I know its kinda weird but, about 3 years ago you did a video on a keyboard called Tomoko MMC023 and i was wondering, can i change the switches on it ? or at least take them off and put them back ? Am asking this because i want to paint the keyboard without painting the switches by accident XD.
To change the switches on the MMC023, you would have to desolder them since it isn't a hot swap keyboard. Painting that board will be a hugeee pain. Maybe you could mask the top area off to make it look like a black plate to avoid the switch area completely.
i got mine for 33.94 USD or 2000php at the time it was a clearance sale. best Kb for me especially im playing FPS and i need the desktop real-estate for my moue movements
On amazon this keyboardf has a ton of issues of dying after 1-2 months. only 1 month warranty. it looked great and was only 36$ after a 19$ coupon but I went with another one because I don't wanna risk it
@@cloverchips-ym3cu Can't complain about anything really. I know they're ABS caps but I could care less and they feel solid to me. Definitely can't go wrong with this board
I was very happy and In need of a keyboard but, as I set it down on my desk the corners were uneven and the magnets kept on falling off. Overall it’s a great board but the creation is very disappointing.
I'd like a good mech keeb TKL under $100 with hotswappable switches and standard size keycaps PBT double-shot. I don't mind RGB, I'd prefer good quality keycaps like the ones from Leopold keebs, 100% PBT double-shot
Okay so I got this keyboard bc of this vid and now I noticed that when in bluetooth mode, the keyboard goes into powersaving after 1 minute of not using it and it turns off the backlight. Do you have any idea how I can turn off the powersaving mode? I want to see the backlight even when I am not working bc they’re just really beautiful. Thanks!
bad bluetooth, after 5 minutes of sleep mode, it will disconnect. you have to connect the bluetooth again and the problem is when you want to connect it, you have to remove device or forget device in order for the bluetooth to read the keyboard again. this is my routine every now and then.
I like how he sways left and right while talking
@ white + pudding keycaps 🤤
I really appreciate how honest u are when it comes to sponsors keep up the good work :)
This board was the reason I started looking more into the custom mech scene! 💙

What is the difference between v1 and v2 rk71?
got the keyboard (v2 tri mode one not the one in the video) today and really loving it..the keycap and switch pullers really completes it

How's the brightness of the RGB? I just bought a drevo caliber v2 which is essentially the same keyboard, but the RGB is really dim.
Yeah it is the same for me, virtually all the stabs in the keyboard are rattly and sometimes my number keys don't work.
@@JTTR so is it possible to remove the battery and still use it as wired? Thanks
