  • In this video, I talk about how I use gel pens with grayscale coloring! Gel pens are very fun, colorful and easy to use. They are also a fairly inexpensive medium compared to other coloring supplies. I show how to use fine tip gel pens to color in small areas in a grayscale coloring page. I also cover how to use metallic and glitter gel pens to add neat effects to your coloring to make chains and jewelry look like real metal. And finally, I talk about how I use white gel pens to add highlights on eyes, lips, clothes wings, etc... I hope you find this video helpful! =)

    Staedtler fine liners are great for coloring small areas. They do bleed a small amount on cheap printer paper, but the thicker color book pages they don't bleed through.

    I just finished drawing a pic and was thinking of only lining with glitter pen instead of actually pencil coloring it or water coloring it all. I figured it would look nice with glitter pen. do you think it would be a good idea?

    • @NikkiBurnette
      @NikkiBurnette  7 лет назад

      I think that sounds like a great idea! I love glitter gel pens, so I'm all for it. ;)

    Thank you for this video and these tips. I would have never thought of using the white gel pen like that. Lol! Buy I also have a few tips that I feel you should try, if I may, I've been through a lot of different brands of gel pens and the brand " color Technik " has been the best I've colored with. I've been able to blend colors with these and they have smaller points (like these in the video). They have alot of different colors and styles as well (glitter; metallic; swirl; dye; ect) and for a set of 120 is $18.00 on Amazon. 2nd tip In the video you mentioned the black lines being covered another way to reoutline those lines are fine point felt pens. I use them all the time and with various colors offered you have multiple options to reoutline instead of just black. I hope I've been somewhat of help and not any nuisance to you.

    Art-n-fly no longer carry these colors😢 Would you please recommend other suggestions of brands (excluding Sakura) for fine tips with a DECENT flow gel pen brands??? I excluded Sakura due to overly flowing wide 1mm tip. I do enjoy Sakura just not for the fine details in your greyscale books. Please help!

    did you use a lot of ink to color in the dress?

    • @NikkiBurnette
      @NikkiBurnette  7 лет назад

      Nope not too much! The paper has a slicker finish to it so it doesn't seem to absorb quite as much ink as a matte piece of paper would. =)

    Hi Nikki,
    Last night I typed in, "how to use gel pens" and discovered your video. She is gorgeous. Your work is amazing. I'm your new subscriber. I can't wait to watch more of your videos and expanding my art materials.
    Not only do i love making art but stitching cross stitch patterns. Have you submitted any of your work to cross stitch companies? I'd love to know if I could stitch up this very drawing!!! I have about 40 different patterns from heavenandearthdesigns dot com and many from Etsy shops.
    I saw you had an Etsy shop, I will be asking my husband if he could purchase some of your products so I may color them. I'm on a funds diet as I spend to much for my stitching hobby. Thank you so much for creating this video... I'm seriously excited.
