    You can use an alcohol blender with inktense and they are less likely to bleed and buckle .... Also, you can put a layer of workable fixative down to prevent your black ink from sneering on lighter colors

    Hey Kim, you may want to try using rubbing alcohol instead of water with your Inktense pencils. You will still get all of the blending effects, but it will not buckle, warp, weaken, pill or tear Amazon paper. You will be amazed! You can slosh a lot alcohol onto that paper and it does not care a bit. 👍 ❤️❤️
    I got Lettie started with this so she could use all her watercolor stuff happily in our books. If you live in a hot area like she does, it’s good to keep the alcohol in one of those brush pens like you were using so it doesn’t evaporate so fast.❤

      AHHHH! This is such a great tip, Angie! Thank you so very much! @@snickerdoodlingllc just make sure that if you’re doing this in the hardback book you put a couple sheets of paper underneath the page. With most water activated pencils, the pigment will not bleed and show on the reverse side of the page when you activate with alcohol. But that clear alcohol will flow into the paper readily, so if the next page has unactivated inktense or watercolor pencils you could create some unintentional art if you didn’t put that barrier in place! 🤣🤣🤣

    Good advices. I'm stuck with really dark GS books I've bought two years ago by Selina Fenech. Don't know if you know her books, they are beautiful but very dark and very challenging. Tried a few pages, but it didn't turn out well, so I hardly ever touch those now.

    • @snickerdoodlingllc
      @snickerdoodlingllc  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, Loonit! Thank you so much for reaching out. I've seen some of her books but haven't actually colored in them. Is it the background that's really dark? I'm wondering if you could use distress inks over the background? Something very pigmented maybe? Also wondering if putting down a light layer of gesso over the dark areas would allow you the grace to color with lighter colors? Again, I've never seen these books in person, so I'm not sure which medium they can handle. I hope this is a little helpful? Thank you so much for stopping by my little channel to watch. I truly appreciate you! 💖💖💖

      @snickerdoodlingllc It's not just the background. Many objects in the pages are very dark, it's hard to distinguish between the dark and midtones in the page, haven't tried inks or gesso, I'm trying to focus on the characters and other items in the page, I didn't get to the background at all. I've colored a few pages in the past, and it turned out awful, honestly. Thank you for your answers!

      Hi, Robin! I just checked Amazon, and it looks like the author has pulled the book. It's no longer available for sale. SAD!! 😰 It was such a cute book, too. The author's name (I had to dig for it since it's not printed on the book) is LM Clerge. They only have one coloring book on Amazon now, though.
