I didn’t even know painting a couch was an option! Looks fabulous!
Thank you! I’m so glad you learned something new!😊
That turned out a lot better than I expected. Thanks for the detailed video!
Great job. U always do. I saw the last sofa set u did. Ur very talented.❤❤
Thank you so much for watching and having such nice things to say! I appreciate you and please enjoy some other favs of mine like the beige modern dresser I flipped☺️
Looks fabulous. I actually made a fabric sofa look like leather with chalk paint and wax. One idea when chalk painting soft furniture is to use a dark wax in areas. Makes it look really cool and less ‘flat’.
I love that! And I have always wanted to try the fabric to leather but I haven’t found a piece just yet. What is your video?
@@SHYSDESIGNS I don’t have a video, just did it at home. It took an entire weekend! I started with poly velvet with a pile - and painted it and painted it, waxed it, then painted it and then waxed it!
Don’t stop doing this !!! KEEP GOING
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!! I really appreciate the comment! Thank you!!
This was so helpful!! I'm about to start painting some leather dining chairs myself, I hope it turns out as good as your sofa did :)
Oh my goodness that is such great news! I’m sure they will and you should tag me in photos when your done! And don’t forget to reach out if you need any help😊
That transformation was amazing. Never knew leather could be painted. Looked like a totally different sofa. Great job, very informative 👍

Wow this was awesome !!!
Thank you so much for watching!! I’m so glad you enjoyed my video😊 I hope to hear from you again soon
I'm going to paint my faux leather livingroom sofas next month in white but I'm using heirloom all in one paint. If u try it make sure u tell them what ur painting i bought a sample and it was great, that i decided to use they're pain. White is called cashmere for them. Hope u try it u will love it. Good luck for us both. Thanks for ur info❤
I have used the brand before and it’s thick so it definitely takes some getting used to but I don’t like the paint. It holds up really well. Thank you for the tips and I hope your painting journey goes amazing! Good luck
nice video
Thank you so much!

Thank you! Oh great! Thank you for that information and watching my video😊
You rock!

Thank you so much!!
excellent content , it looks Amazing 🤩
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a nice comment!
I know the work was to much but to see the transformation of the couch is amazing, i love the color and you save the couch lol one less on our landfills lol amazing work congratulations 🎉
Thank you so much! Well just let me know if you would like a color match! I can get you the formula😊
I completely agree! I love flipping furniture and one of the main reasons is to make sure I am doing my part to keep these pieces out of the trash and to reuse and recycle what I can! So important to leave a good legacy.
@@SHYSDESIGNS yes I will love to know the color match formula 🥰
I love to makeover furniture too it’s funny how my kids totally get it, every time they see a furniture on the trash or on the side of the road they said “ Mommy I think you can paint that furniture to be beautiful again” 🥰
@@ChristinaHomeSweetHome and h my goodness that’s too cute! Mine isn’t old enough to spot furniture for me yet but I will have to teach her lol
wow, i loved how you transformed this and made such a great profit from it! I have a leather couch that i have been wanting to re-color but have been so on the fence about painting it, this has given me a new understanding! thank you. Subbed!
Oh my goodness I’m so happy that this helped!! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!!!😊
Congrats
Thank you so much!
What color do you mix ??? Can the paint dry without being sticky????
The paint does not dry sticky.
lmao not traumatized by the smell! 😩 i felt that in my soul. i tried to get the smell out of a bean bag a month ago and i too was traumatized 🤢 never again.
Lol I truly had no idea how bad it was until I pulled those inserts out and had to clean them by hand. 🤢 I hope that if you do ever try again you will be able to use something from the video to help the process go a little smoother!
The couch looks so good! What colors did you use?
Thank you! I will have to get it color matched but the base color was the classic white chalk paint by krylon and then I mixed in primary colors until I was happy with the color😊
Nice
Thank you
Im really glad to find this video ! What tule of paint you used for?
I’m so happy you enjoyed my video! I used chalk paint. I use any paint I want and then add a powder to turn it into chalk paint. Then I sealed with leather cleaner and sealer.
So just the chalk paint you don’t need to put anything else and it will stay for a while and won’t come off ?
The chalk paint is extremely porous and needs serious hydration. So I would suggest the chalk paint and then your favourite leather moisturiser or coconut oil (although I would give it like 24 hours to soak in so you don’t stain clothes)
I have two leather movie chairs that reeked of cigarette smoke and I sprayed them down with vinegar, set them in the sun, sprayed them with tea tree oil and the smell was gone. Maybe try it?
Thank you for that!! I will be trying that for next time! Sounds way less time consuming
Does the colour rub off with wear?
As long as you take care of the couch as you would regular leather the paint should have a long life. Even leather dye wears off after a really long time so I won’t say no, but it is possible to keep it looking amazing with the proper use and leather care.
Thank you. Great video!
@@ida1497 thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😊 I can’t wait to hear from you again!
How do i reverse it? I tried it and it has pealed badly but half still on. Flakes everywhere, all over floor, slippers etc…. I need rid of it all now. Any ideas how to reverse? Turps didnt work
@@roseitagrace6752 possibly try rubbing alcohol, soapy water and lightly scrubbing, wd 40, or light sanding.
Amazing job but I have a question. Did the chalk paint feel rough when you sit on it or is it softer more flexible like the leather?
The chalk paint was definitely softer. It felt like the natural leather. I was honestly shocked because I had some reservations going in to the flip because I had never done a couch at this point.
@@SHYSDESIGNSThank you
@@revglt of course! Thank you for watching and commenting with a great question! I also go over all the pros and cons of the different paints and repair kits I have used on leather furniture in my latest leather sectional couch video
How long do you think it would have taken, if the couch didn't stink of smoke, and you only needed to repaint it?
Probably a few days honestly because the couch wasn’t a huge couch and the paint was easy to put on. That was a great question.. thank you for watching and reaching to ask!
This came our beautiful. I wonder if this will work for a darker colors . I came across a sofa similar to this for $60 minus the smell 😂😂 but it’s dark gray & I wanted it more of a caramel brown so I’ve been on RUclips trying to see if someone has done it
Since it is paint it will probably cover the leather just fine with any start color!😊
Thank you so much for watching my video! Tag me in your finished product or reach out for any questions if you end up getting the piece!
@@SHYSDESIGNS Okay thank you so much for your response. I will be tagging you as soon as it’s finished !
@@Cee_Cee__ of course! Perfect! Thanks so much!
My leather couches were left out on the porch and now have grown mold marks all over. I've tried to scrub but not coming off. I may give painting a go...nothing to lose. Have you heard of mixing paint with fabric softener?
I have but when I saw that it was supposed to give a fabric chair a leather feel. You may try all in one paint.. that may help cover and protect the couch for future use😊
Use undiluted vinegar (double strength). Let it sits for half an hour. Wipe off. Throw away rags. Repeat adding a bit of water and tea tree oil. Let sit another 30 min. Rinse with clear water throw away rags. That will kill mold otherwise it will grow through the paint.
I tried this but the paint came off any idea what I did wrong ?
Maybe you didn’t strip the surface enough for the paint to adhere.
What kind of paint? Is it just a regular paint?
It is a krylon classic white chalk paint base with a few more chalk paints mixed in to get the color of my choice in the video.
How did word it to sell it?
I’m sorry?
@@SHYSDESIGNS how word would word this piece to be sold on say marketplace
@@shaniqueseymour4357 it depends on where you live, and the piece itself. This piece I could have sold for well over $550.. maybe around $1000, but because it was my first piece and i got in my own way about how it would be perceived I low balled the piece.
@@shaniqueseymour4357 I usually base the price off the condition, make, and a deep dive into the internet finding a like piece and what it is selling for so I can get an average for what I should price mine at.
@@SHYSDESIGNS okay, was just wondering if you had to state it was painted.
Next time spray it with Odoban let it dry between applications giving it like 3 or more applications. But at least 3. It Neutralizes odors and so does Febreeze.
Thank you so much! I will definitely keep that in mind for next time! Thank you for watching😊
What color please?
It’s a color match because I made it. I will list the formula from the can after matching it.
8900-5.406, 8935-6.375, 8978-23.594, 8991-6.625
Satin base c half pint (matched at lowes)
i have a question the chalk paint don't rub off on your clothes?
As long as you care for the leather like you normally would.. the leather will stay conditioned which will help keep your paint on your couch because the leather won’t crack over time which in turn helps the paint stay gorgeous.
Lovely, but it says the paint color is Linen White. It appears to be a terracotta. Suzanne
The color I mixed into the paint was mixed in the linen white can. I mixed my own color in the video and then I got it matched so you guys would have the formula for the color if you desired 😊
Next time, if you find a couch you want to restore, if it smells like cigarettes, leave it. You cannot remove a cigarette smell.
I appreciate your candor but if tenacious enough I believe you can. Because I did. This couch smelled like oranges when I was done with it.
@@SHYSDESIGNS Cool beans. lol. As an ex smoker, you won't believe how sharp my sense of smell is. But you do a fabulous job on these. I'm planning to get on my 20 year old leather sectional but I have to watch a few more videos to get my confidence up. Unless you want to swing by. jk. All the best and thanks for this drop.
@@MrVeeBlog thank you so much! I would love to get my hands on a 20 year old leather couch! My leather chairs are actually from the 70’s so I’m no stranger. I hope my videos can help build that confidence and I hope they give you all the tools you need to get the results you’re looking for!
You underprice your products. You could have gotten your full 600.
I think with it being one of my first pieces, and my very first couch, that I was just happy for the offer at the moment. But I do agree and appreciate you saying so.
