Nice one, few years ago hired a car from Chang Mai & did the Chang Rai-Nan-Sukothai-Chang Mai drive, loved Nan. Thanks for the reminder of it. Must do it again
That must have been amazing Rob! I've driven them all apart from Sukothai which I can't believe I haven't been to. All beautiful but to do them all in the same go must have been special!
My son and nephew from South Africa live in Pua, Nan - on the rice fields. They both teach English. Pictures he sends are always so beautiful. I can't wait to visit Thailand this year - I'm hoping to do Chiang Mai and Kho Samui.
After we watched this video we went to eat the kaho soi, this was the best thing i ever ate in my life! With the most beautiful view, cheers my friend, thanks for The advice!
A friend of mine was in Nan once a few years ago and informed me about its spectacular beauty. You confirmed that with your excellent effort up there Gary. You convinced me to go there soon!
Thanks for sharing these ‘off the beaten path’ locations very interesting and informative! I’d be interested in a video about Nan and the amazing surrounding mountains. Keep up the good work…so close to 2k subs!
Thanks Nelson, glad you enjoyed it. I’m hoping to get back up there soon as well as some other provinces in the north but who knows at the moment! Yeah we are closing in on 2k, it’s been a long time coming!
Cycling there next week. Thanks mate, you'are an absloute gem. ❤ (Btw i'm living in Nepal, so I'll bring a pack of Yermang, which is high Himalayan pepper to compare the taste on the spot with mak kewan.) Keep up the good work.
Thanks for very good vid again Gary! Nan reminds me of Pai. And we absolutely loved it. Its looks so lush and green. What time of year you visited? I love Khao soi and Laab too. Its nice they have own twist in it. Its so much easier start your holiday In New place when you know some good restaurants and places to visit.... Just watch Garys video first😄👍👍. Iam interestin in Isan area.
Thank me Jouni, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙏🙏 it was last September so in rainy season but the weather was perfect, just rained at night! Yeah, you have to try the northern version of laab. Don’t worry I have a place for you in Bangkok you can get it 😎 Much appreciated as ever 🙏👌
Our home is in the village where Silaphet Waterfall is between Pua/Wat Phuket and Bo Klua. You drove right past it. They have a number of people operating grills on near the waterfall. Stop and have some chicken with papaya salad and beer. Take a dip if you are hot. We are walking distance to this. On the road you also pass a mushroom farm that has good pizza to sell their mushrooms. God coffee there too. Also, if you go to Bo Klua salt mines, you are so close to Doi Pukka National Park. Nice quiet remote resort there with cabins. In the city of Nan, don't miss visiting the Thai Liu weaver house where they demonstrate their fine craft and home building as well.
We'll be back up around November with a bit of luck so I've pinned all these places on maps. It all sounds amazing so thanks for the info! How long have you been living up there?
My wife of 15 yrs and her family are from Bangkok but her sister moved to Nan Provence, village Ban Patong maybe 30 yrs ago. We built a house on her property about 6 yrs ago. We still live in Alaska and only visit but are moving permanently in Nan in another year. We will vacation there one more time, hopefully Jan, Feb 2022. Then return to Alaska until we are ready, sell the house etc. We have been stalling visiting Thailand since Covid began.
First time I heard of Nan. So much to explore in Thailand. Cant wait to get back. Just waiting for Australian Government to let us travel! They saying not until middle of next year now
So much to explore! I don’t think many people have heard of Nan (especially when it’s me trying to pronounce it!) Middle of next year yeah? That’s crazy!
@@theroamingcook yes in motorbike, perfect weather, amazing scenery. I was so thrilled I came back And forth on the hill to enjoy the road again and again😃
@@theroamingcook I need to go back to visit. All this time I’ve only been back there once when I was 20. You get some decent Thai food here, but not any where as good as in Thailand.
Hi G, nice clips Do U know Buddha monk is prohibited to harm any livings including fishing. If U travel there by yourself, I understand but if U have Thai companion, they should k ow better. Keep on doing good work bro
Hey Tommy! Thanks you brother, much appreciated 🙏 now you mention it, I do know that but i didn’t think about it when I put up the video. Do you think I should take it down? I don’t want to upset anyone!
We followed your suggestions to see the salt wells and then waited on lunch for the resort with a view. They don't serve lunch! Restaurant was closed. We said we saw it on RUclips and they smiled. Asked if we booked a room. 😒
@@theroamingcook There was a party in the parking lot that day so maybe they were just too busy. Anyway we tried, had Khao Soi in Nan and found a great little restaurant called Little La Cuisine near your suggested restaurant which was perfect. We're in Nong Khai now.
Hey Gary, both you and Paddy Doyle inspired my husband and I as we planned our Retirement trip to Thailand. We did include Nan in our itinerary and enjoyed the province. We tried to go to the restaurant you recommended after the mountain drive, but they told us they didn't have lunch. We had Khao Soi in Nan city. Anyway; for your subscribers who are on a budget, we wanted to let everyone know of a nice little Air BNB. We stayed at Nan Evergreen Farm Stay. Our host, Gesnarin is personable and likes practicing English, so the stay was comfortable in that way too. He puts out a nice little breakfast each morning with great coffee. Let's help him recovery from the Covid downturn. Here are photos I took of his farm. Great, quiet, economical stay! ruclips.net/user/shorts_aopBbHydB0

I'm glad I saw you on Paddy Doyle's channel. Great videos.
I travelled through Nan 100% agree; stunning. Especially Sapan village including the drive in and out.
Very nice and thank you! My wife grew up in Bo Kluea and from 2024 on I will live until the rest of my days in Nan City with my family
