17:30 such a lovely couple. I had a great time staying at their hotel too. Glad to hear you enjoyed Chiang Khong too, I loved that town. And thanks for the shout-out💪
Hi Gary, I've just discovered your channel and its the best! I love everything about Thailand especially the food and was privileged to have the experience of being thrown straight into country life in Nang Rong, Buriram Bangkok is my favourite city as it has everything you can ever want in the way of shopping and food. I am currently sharing all your videos with all my Friends and Thai 🇹🇭 friends and hope this will support your AMAZING channel ขอบคุณ 🇹🇭🤗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks mate, I really appreciate it. I really want to go to Buriram, I haven't done enough of Isan! Bangkok is great for everything really. Thanks again for sharing! 🙏
Fair play to you Gary ,getting on a plane to show us a dish you love👍I feel you channel will grow 10 fold in the coming months .The food and the places to eat has no bounds 👍The ladies taking the Michael out of you had me laughing 🤣Get you own back and ask them to say Squirrel 😊I could spend hours looking at those old photo's ,The stories they could tell ❤️
Haha yeah I definitely should have got them to say something 😂 it was so funny though and it was everywhere, not just in the video. Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed this one!
We stayed two weeks in Chiang Khong in 2017 at the end of a long bike ride through Vietnam, Cambodia, and SE Thailand. How did we not have any of those three noodle soups? It looks a lot like the Shan noodle soups we ate in Shan State in Myanmar. Delicious. We adore Chiang Khong and staying that long meant we went to the different evening markets, coffee places, Bamboo Restaurant (where we've known the owners for 20 years, they make the best bread we've ever eaten anywhere), and walked along the river every day. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of CK that we miss so much.
Definitely a Shan dish via Yunnan. My friends from Shan cook it for me but with wheat noodles. Spending a bit longer in a place is so much better, you really get a feel for the place and the people. You’ll just have to go back and try the noodles!
All 3 looked good . . . Now I'm incredibly hungry and have to go in search of something to satisfy my Thai food craving!! When you showed the initial view from the guest house I did think "hang on, that's where Ken stayed" :) I've also set my (Shan) Thai family the task of finding places around Mae Hong Son which serve something similar. However, Chiang Khong is firmly ion the list of places to visit on our next road trip :)
Yes Ken did stay here I found out later! This dish is definitely Shan via Yunnan I think, my friends cook it for me but with wheat noodles. If your family come up with any recommendations, please pass them on 🙏🙏🙏😀😀😀😀
Hi Gary, recently found your channel and this one made me finally sub. Thanks for giving Laos Kasoy more screen time. First generation American here with parents from Laos so all your food videos are really pushing me to hurry and visit their homeland. Also the kalaeng fen from the first shop is a dish that originated from China called liangfen which uses a chili oil paste. Here in the states, we make our kaleng fen juice with tamarind so the ending flavor result is sour, spicy, and salty. It's interesting to see how this dish changed in each region. Also subbed because you said you liked the funky fermented bean chili paste! 😁
I’m glad I’ve finally convinced you to sub 😃 I’ll be heading to Laos as soon as possible! I hope you can visit soon! Now you mention it, it probably did have tamarind in it! I think all these dishes come from Yunnan originally right? Spicy bean paste is life! I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos 🙏🙏
11:02 She and He said "ข้าวซอย 'สิบสองปันนา' ('Xishuangbanna') noodle style". so that's mean it's originally from Xishuangbanna of China. Xishuangbanna city is located at the south of China near to the boarder of Laos and Myanmar. Xishuangbanna people are Tai(Thai), we share some culture and language in some part of Laos, Myanmar, Northern of Vietnam and Thailand. That may explain why there is a fermented bean chili paste Chinese style. So, if you have a chance to visit Xishuangbanna of China, I want to see you chasing for the original noodle of this kind too.
Yes, it’s one place I’ve wanted to visit for ages. I hope they open soon so I can have the original. I just went back to Laos and the version there is so good!
Hiya Gary, Great to see them ripping it out of you. That was so funny. Lol. Great to see you laughing. That dog. So funny, small doggie syndrome. Haha. Why do I do it to myself?. Watching your videos just before my bedtime. You always make me feel hungry. Definitely, worth the journey. Love your food videos. Thank you for sharing. Great video. Good vibes. Fred smashed it. Gina and Fred are lovely. Love Ken's videos too. Any video you do is enjoyable. Have a great Sunday. And Week.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Nicky, the banter was great up here from the locals! Haha, I know that little dog! 😂 trying to get Fred and Gina to start a channel!
Another cracking video! Great looking food and area of the country. Made some noodles with pork mince the other day. Added vinegar for the first time, was a game changer! Cheers. Cheers!
Another great video Gary! All of the food looked simply amazing. Yes, while watching your video, I reckonised the guy who took you to the museum from Ken's video... I think from memory he stayed at his hotel/guest house?
Really good watch Gary and friends 👍much appreciated. Bowl 2 looked amazing but it's all about the taste and we 100 per cent trust your judgement. We stayed around there on our way to Laos in 2019 intending to go on a romantic boat journey. Couldn't get a boat ticket, ended up going instead on a bone shaking local bus. All good fun and great local food on the way 😋 Love your videos.
These noodle are the best. I believe they are inspire by southern china cuisine in which alot of people there evacuate to the north of thailand. It don't taste as great without some mixing but once you mixed it with some chilli or fish sauce/vinegar then it a 10/10.
Ramfuen rice in Chinese is called Liang Fen. It is a different kind of Chinese noodle dish. but the name looks the same but distorted from Chinese maybe the same name
Yes mate, it looks delicious Laos style Kaw Soi, my Isan wife tells me she doesn't know it 😉 And about the pronounciation, Kaw Lam Poun, so Lam with Sara Am mate 😉 ำ . The second place, ot looks almost the same but a little different Gary 😋 Thanks foe sharing, maybe i will take my Thai family up there this year, was planning to go the Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and golden triangle, nearby Chiang Khong i guess. And yes Ken was there, i remember his vlogs from the place, the Thai people helped him out in this small town and he even visited the local street market. Your breakfast was splended, just add those lovely herbs and been sprouts ( my favorite fresh vegatable for noodles, Phad Thai ) 👊 Anyhow, thanks for sharing 🙏 and as always, C Ya in the next one, cheers 🙌🍻
Thanks buddy, I was really struggling with that one 😂 yeah it’s a great place to go and relax if you’re in the area for sure. I think it will be a good place to stop when Laos is back open for business too! Thanks again and see you soon mate!
Flying all the way up there then driving just for 3 bowls of noodles! You mad man! I love this! Have to get up there some day; my wife wants to do the slow boat to Laung Phrabang so, we'll definitely stay an extra day for these and a look about. I also just passed through on my way to the boats my 1st time there. The ORG Khao Soi!!
Haha, yeah I’m mad for noodles what can I say! My absolute favourite is in Luang Prabang. I also need to get back asap! You’ll be able to compare them all!
Thanks Gary for flying all that way to show us a different take on Khao Soi. I have too say that the third one would be my favourite, as I'm not a big fan of eggs but I love crispy fried garlic. I would love to see more travel videos like this :)
The bean paste if Chinese indluenced is 'tau cheo', mostly used as an alternative to salt. The owners of Day Waterfront, 500b in 2014, the man at least is from Hainan Island in China but totally Thai by now and yes he recommended the restaurant just outside the hotel. Seafood was good too. My 90 year old mum loved it! Glad you found it too. I'd like to hunt down khao soi # 3 if ever I get to this town again.
Tau Cheo is the best! Ah that’s interesting, I didn’t know he was from Hainan! I’m glad mum approved 😀 number 3 is definitely the one to find. Plus P’Kai (owner of the hotel) told me they are renovating the old town soon
noodle soup is always tasty,I like all kinds.but my favorite one is Guay Tiew Nuea Nam Sai.I think it's cool of you flying 1800km for noodle soup..I personally prefer poached egg in my noodle soup.yes Gary in every noodle soup should be fried garlic.
Mate, this look amazing, I've had pig blood noodles in Nang Rong for ฿30 and they were amazing as well. I think it was worth the trip as it looks so beautiful and peaceful there. My self and my friend Amanda are looking to go to back to Thailand later this year 😋😋😋🤗🇹🇭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Gary, the last time I was travelling Thailand I could eat anything which was great. I now have Celiac disease which means I can't eat gluten and majority of Thai food is cooked with soy, fish sauce, deep fat fried and cross contamination etc I am visiting in April as I want my partner to be able to explore the country's beauty. Do you have any tips? Thanks Gabby
Fish sauce is gluten free so there are a lot of dishes you can have. Pad Thai is gluten free, loads of Isan dishes like somtam, larb as well as spicy yum salads are gluten free. You can eat all Thai curries pretty much as none have soy in if they are made correctly. Avoid khao soi as it does have dark soy sauce in it.
Thank you Gary , I just love noodles like you and love to try different assorted kinds ..and this is absolutely enjoyable noodles 🍜 clip , looking good and yum 🤤 because as you said only this town that you can get these authentic noodles. The best top of that, the hotel prices and lovely peaceful scenery of river viewing. I think it’s worth flying there just enjoying the peacefulnesses and museum as well. Yeah worth every penny.👍👏👍
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Sheila, I know you love your noodle soup. I think it's definitely worth spending a couple of days here enjoying the scenery 🙏
Went to khao soi panang and ran pa Laos. Both were excellent. Tried going to Jaem or jam house 3 times over three days, But they were never serving food. Going to try Khao Soi Sipseongbbanna Restaurant tomorrow before I leave chiang khong
@theroamingcook sipseongbbanna was our favorite. I'm not usually a fan of pork balls, but hers were great. The hard boiled eggs were perfect, and not overdone like I feel most are. The parboiled veggies added a new wonderful dimension. We also loved the hand cut noodles that were fatter and had more tooth than the others. Finally, the fermented bean paste was the best of the three. Definitely more heat than the others, but fine by us. My only disappointment is that we are leaving chiang khong today, and won't be able to eat here again. Hands down this was the best khao soi nam naa I tried. It is definitely worth the trip. Once again thank you Gary. I can't believe I found your video during my first internet search after hearing about this dish at my hotel. I only recently became a subscriber of yours after finding you thru Adam from OTR food and history before leaving the states for this trip. Can't thank you enough. Cheers!
I am Thai thanks to traveling in my country I was in Bangkok now I move to UK for some reason but I still plan to go visit Thailand every year I came back 4months ago from Ching Rai and Bangkok and Samui I love to go Ching Khong that why I watched your video enjoy next video thanks khop Kun ka😊
Everything you’ve eaten = YUMMY!!! Yes Gary, you did it again….you didn’t disappoint 😬 The dishes made me & my husband wants some!!! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video:) Love the scene when the little dog was barking at ya😂😂😂
I would vote for #3 simply cos it had crispy fried garlic, but since it's the 21st century let's say they're all winners, duchess! Nice to see you doing something a bit bonkers, and some proper utilisation of the term "proper"! That opening credits kind of intro was the absolute dogs btw! Was like something out of 1 of Gordon Ramsay's food trip shows lol
I really like these travel videos👍 All the food looks very good. I say its worth... But hope you have cheap flight tickets😉👍 Thank you for sharing. Great video 🙏
Oooh they look delicious. I've been to both Chiang Rai and Luang Prabang and I remember their soups and broths are not very spicy, but they're heavier on herbs, and sometimes with a hint of mint.
in a minute 8:07 called "Khau raem feun" or "Khau raem kheun" (ข้าวแรมฟืน หรือ ข้าวแรมคืน) means in English that "Firewood rice" or "Overnight rice" Khao Ramfuen is a traditional food that has been influenced by the Tai Yai, Thai Lue, Yunnan Chinese, and other ethnic groups who traveled from the same settlement in southern China. There are different characteristics according to the cooking method. But they have a common point: they are made from rice, peas, or peanuts, prepared by soaking in water until softened. Then grind until fine. Then mixed with water to have a moderate concentration. Rice must be mixed with lime water or calcium chloride to aid in solidification. Then bring to a boil until cooked and have the right consistency. and leave it overnight. Hence the origin of the name "Khao Ramfuen" or "Khao Ramkhun".
Jeez I just left Bangkok after scouring the city for a few of your recommendations and here you are in one of my fave spots Chiang Khong teaching me more. Great. Thanks. Next time stay at a top notch hotel for similar rates called Baan Sakuna
Guests Who Have Stayed At This Place Love It. Just Checked A Twin Room With Air Condition $$20.00 Each Night. Also Noticed 5 Min Walk Away There's A Pink Hotel Charging $$10.00 Each Night WOW. Wonder If The Pink / Dark Red Building You Walked By Was That Hotel. Hi Gina. In America We Call Them White Noodles. My Favorite. Yummy Noodle Video
Watching this during halftime Palace v Liverpool. We'll be missing the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half! A change is as good as a rest. Glad you got 2 places to try... 👍👍+1 (Oops 3!)
I'm much more interesting than the premiership, especially if arsenal aren't playing! Missing football to watch me is probably the biggest compliment I've ever had 🙏🙏🙏🙏
They are pretty much lao people there and speak lao locally, many are Lue people, if you go to huey sai and drive towards the casino there is a famous shop along the road, a must stop. But yeah, if you at any locals home you would think your in laos.
Hi Gary, sorry I missed the live chat. I guess I was in deep sleep to not have heard the 🔔. Anyway, I am up now and watching, and ready to give you a Thai lesson for the day. 😀. In Thai, a bowl 🥣 is called TOO-AY or TUAY, and a plate is called JAAN, noodles are often served in a 🥣, so 3 TOO-AY (no plurality needed in Thai language), is the correct way to say it, ok? 😀. The original Kao Soi is 👍😋🙏. Ooh, one more thing, a shop or store is called RAAN (ร้านค้า) , where you must roll your tongue, whereas LAAN (ล้าน) is meaning million. 😁. Anyway, the shop owner understood you, since some Thais are having "lazy tongues" these days, even without rolling your tongue, so it's ok, but it will not be correct in a written form, as in, one would not get an "A" in Thai language class. 👍. Watching you being schooled by the noodles ladies had me LOL. Thanks for not taking yourself too seriously. Not having a Title/Diploma as a legit chef doesn't make you less of being an expert. You know your food & you prove yourself every day. There is nothing to be ashamed of. 🤩 Roam on!
Hey Panna, no need to apologise, it’s always at a bad time for you 🙏🙏 Tuay I have trouble with sometimes for some reason so I have gotten lazy and just used Jaan for everything 😅 my mission for today is to use it! Can never take yourself too seriously Panna, we’re not here long enough! Thanks for the lesson as always my favourite ajarn 🙏🙏❤️
@@theroamingcook The best authentic Tai Yai restaurants are around PhaDeaek subdistrict. Other than Khao Soi Noi, there's also Khao Yong Huai (rice flour based dish) and Khao Fuen (a bean jelly eaten with a spicy dip to can mix up yourself) to try. Oh.. and the noodle dish.. Kha nom sen nam jua. Ask me nearer the time if you need a google map link.
We were already having thin rice noodles Cock brand (Bangkok) tonight.... under oyster sauce and honey chicken with flat beans - after the match. Bon appétit. 😁🙏
Oh wow, I stayed a couple of nights in Chiang Khong back in '99 before taking the 2-day slow boat to Luang Prabang 😅 Thanks for triggering the memories!
Definitely not Andrew, I didn't say they were homemade 🤔They would be made locally in smallish batches I'd imagine though as they are the only town (as far as I can tell) that eat them.
@@theroamingcook Okay 👍. How are they different from ordinary rice noodles? You didn't address that in the video... or maybe another video using excerpts?
Ka liang phun ...my people makes them...can't eat too much...stinky farts. I stopped eating it when mom makes it because I eat too much and I don't want to deal with the consequences 🤣 that kao soi looks good. That's the style i usually make at home .keep the base in the freezer for years..when I make it. Had to ask mom for more of the fermented beans..just ran out so can't make more base at moment.
Even it shares the same name, it's clearly not having coconut milk in it. Why do you assume which one is the original? Thai food doesn't just show up after RUclips originating in 2005.
Because this is a century old dish from Xishuangbanna and the other was made in (as far as I can tell) in around the 1940’s in Chiang Mai. I’m not a native speaker but as I understand it, Khao soi means cut the rice so it must have been made with rice noodles originally to get that name I’d imagine. I didn’t get any of this information from RUclips though sorry. I’m happy to be corrected 🙏
Yes, Thai language is TONE-L, , for example, the word KAO, could means rice, enter, news, knees, and white😁. Flexing the tongue is the correct way to do it, but the easiest way to tell what the word means is to understand the subject of the conversation. 🙏
😅😅😅 It's just a local rice noodle soup so it no need a fancy name for it!! Which ever fill your boots 😉 by the way khao soy is a difference type of noodle soup! Comparing apple and pear will never see the same 😉 .... the thai vender was kind to blanched veggies for you separately 👏 get a guide so you will get a better fact.... it was frustrated listen to you!
17:30 such a lovely couple. I had a great time staying at their hotel too. Glad to hear you enjoyed Chiang Khong too, I loved that town. And thanks for the shout-out💪

Glad you went Gary. That combination of Kasoy, Klungfen (cold flour soup), and papaya salad. Can't beat that.
It’s a combo from the gods!
Not many farang can pronoun the word "chiang" correctly but you nailed it. Bravo! 👏
Thank you! I don't get many correct 😅

Looks amazing! Nothing like a great bowl of noodles🙏🏼

Great video great view city. Walking street. Great food 🥘 Thailand 🇹🇭

For northern's noodle you should also try Khanom Jeen Nam Ngeo.
I love nam ngiao. Easy to get in Bangkok thankfully 🙏🍜

I love Khao Leng Foon. In northern Shan State, we just use different topping.
It's the best

Want to go back to Thailand again
Then my job is done Thomas!
I hope you can get back soon!
As ever Gary well worth it! Another great mini travel noodle vlog. 😋😋😋😋
Thank you Mike mate, much appreciated🙏🙏🙏
noodle soup is always tasty,I like all kinds.but my favorite one is Guay Tiew Nuea Nam Sai.I think it's cool of you flying 1800km for noodle soup..I personally prefer poached egg in my noodle soup.yes Gary in every noodle soup should be fried garlic.
Yeah poached egg all the way for me too!
Mate, this look amazing, I've had pig blood noodles in Nang Rong for ฿30 and they were amazing as well. I think it was worth the trip as it looks so beautiful and peaceful there. My self and my friend Amanda are looking to go to back to Thailand later this year 😋😋😋🤗🇹🇭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Blood noodles are probably my favourite, so good mate! You should definitely consider a trip north when you do! 🙏 🇹🇭
OMB looks amazing!!! Should make a playlist of just noodles!!!!
When my wife laughs at my Thai/Isaan I tell her to say umbrella or vacuum! 5555

Avoid khao soi as it does have dark soy sauce in it.
love videos like this, gives me travel plans
I’m so glad I can help!
It looks amazing!
It was so good!
Love this mate! Which one was your favourite?
Cheers!
What an interesting town! I love museums!
Such a great little town
I am Thai thanks to traveling in my country I was in Bangkok now I move to UK for some reason but I still plan to go visit Thailand every year I came back 4months ago from Ching Rai and Bangkok and Samui I love to go Ching Khong that why I watched your video enjoy next video thanks khop Kun ka😊
You will love it in Chiang Khong khap 😃 Thanks for watching the video
Everything you’ve eaten = YUMMY!!! Yes Gary, you did it again….you didn’t disappoint 😬 The dishes made me & my husband wants some!!! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video:) Love the scene when the little dog was barking at ya😂😂😂
Thanks so much Marietta, I'm glad I made you and your husband hungry! Hahaha, that dog! 😅
They’re all winners just for taking part mate! Cheers mate, was a propppppa mission but it was worth it!
I really like these travel videos👍 All the food looks very good. I say its worth... But hope you have cheap flight tickets😉👍 Thank you for sharing. Great video 🙏
Thank you Jouni, I’m so glad you liked this one, it was a lot of work 😅😅 hotel and flight for 1200 baht so not bad 😀
Oooh they look delicious. I've been to both Chiang Rai and Luang Prabang and I remember their soups and broths are not very spicy, but they're heavier on herbs, and sometimes with a hint of mint.
Yeah totally. Much heavier on the herbs. I even got watercress with mine in Luang Prabang
Awesome!!
Thank youuuu 🙏🙏
in a minute 8:07 called "Khau raem feun" or "Khau raem kheun" (ข้าวแรมฟืน หรือ ข้าวแรมคืน) means in English that "Firewood rice" or "Overnight rice" Khao Ramfuen is a traditional food that has been influenced by the Tai Yai, Thai Lue, Yunnan Chinese, and other ethnic groups who traveled from the same settlement in southern China.
Thank you so much, I’m always learning from you guys 😀
Looks so good, you're killing me! You think chinese fermented chilli bean paste is a good sub for prik tua nao?
Hahaha, sorry! Yeah I think it's perfect. I had a spoonful out of the jar at home when I watched the video. Tastes the same to me!
Jeez I just left Bangkok after scouring the city for a few of your recommendations and here you are in one of my fave spots Chiang Khong teaching me more. Great. Thanks. Next time stay at a top notch hotel for similar rates called Baan Sakuna
Nice one Kev, I’ll check it out on my next trip. How did you like the recommendations in Bangkok?
Guests Who Have Stayed At This Place Love It. Just Checked A Twin Room With Air Condition $$20.00 Each Night. Also Noticed 5 Min Walk Away There's A Pink Hotel Charging $$10.00 Each Night WOW. Wonder If The Pink / Dark Red Building You Walked By Was That Hotel. Hi Gina. In America We Call Them White Noodles. My Favorite. Yummy Noodle Video
I can see why it's so popular here now! Such a sweet couple running the place!
Chiangmai Khao soi very delicious

Thanks to you 🙏
im swooning over the noods omg
Soooooooo good mate
I was there twenty years ago getting that two day bt ride .... that was fun.
Good times! Must have been 12 years for me!
I will definitely check it out next time 🙏
Great vid, love the piss take in the first restaurant. Gutted - I was in Chiang Khong about two days before I found this.
Haha quality mate, it was constant there. I’d go back if you get a chance!
My cousin lives in Chiang Khong. I've been to the first restaurant. 😃😋😋
Ah nice! Did you like it?
ดีใจมากที่คุณชอบ, So glad you like it 🙏☺️
ขอบคุณครับผ มมชอบมากครับ 🙏
@@theroamingcook 😁😂😂😂
Khao Soi Noi dish in Mae Sai district (in Chiang Rai too) , next. Totally different. A Tai Yai dish. Not even a soup.
Thank you Ivan, I’ll head there next month 😀
@@theroamingcook The best authentic Tai Yai restaurants are around PhaDeaek subdistrict. Other than Khao Soi Noi, there's also Khao Yong Huai (rice flour based dish) and Khao Fuen (a bean jelly eaten with a spicy dip to can mix up yourself) to try. Oh.. and the noodle dish.. Kha nom sen nam jua. Ask me nearer the time if you need a google map link.
Thanks mate, I’ll definitely be checking them out. I’d love some Google links if you have them 🙏🙏
We were already having thin rice noodles Cock brand (Bangkok) tonight.... under oyster sauce and honey chicken with flat beans - after the match. Bon appétit. 😁🙏
Sounds absolutely delicious mate 😁
Welcome,all time to Thailand , สวัสดีครับ
ขอบคุณมากครับ 🇹🇭❤️
Mmmmm tasty!
So good
ผมชอบคลิปของคุณมาก ทำมันต่อไปคับ🇹🇭🇹🇭🥰
ใช่ครับชอบมากครับ 🇹🇭🙏❤️
Oh wow, I stayed a couple of nights in Chiang Khong back in '99 before taking the 2-day slow boat to Luang Prabang 😅 Thanks for triggering the memories!
I think I stayed in the same hotel!
Hasn't changed much 😅
@@theroamingcook 😆
Hi How r u? Do u remember me Sasita ??😎
I’m good thanks, how are you? Where did we meet? 🙏🙏
I am so bloody starving right now
Then my job is done 😀
Xishuangbanna, located in southern China, is the territory of the Taikadai tribe, which is a branch of the Thai people.
I really want to go and visit Yunnan now!
Just a thought. Do you really think the noodles themselves are "homemade" with the availability of cheap locally-made "industrial" noodles 🍜, Gary?
Definitely not Andrew, I didn't say they were homemade 🤔They would be made locally in smallish batches I'd imagine though as they are the only town (as far as I can tell) that eat them.
@@theroamingcook Okay 👍. How are they different from ordinary rice noodles? You didn't address that in the video... or maybe another video using excerpts?
Freshness, the same way the salad tastes when they just picked fresh from the garden. Homemade sen yai noodles is easy to make, btw.
@@theroamingcook I'm just interested, not having a go ☮️. 🙏
Hello my name is montiya i from Thailand
Hello Montiya, nice to meet you
Million baht view from hotel.
That's exactly what the owner said John 😁
โอ้ยน่าทาน I miss Thai food
It’s the best
Get them to say Purple Squirrel 🤣🤣🙏
5555555555555
Ka liang phun ...my people makes them...can't eat too much...stinky farts. I stopped eating it when mom makes it because I eat too much and I don't want to deal with the consequences 🤣 that kao soi looks good. That's the style i usually make at home .keep the base in the freezer for years..when I make it. Had to ask mom for more of the fermented beans..just ran out so can't make more base at moment.
Hahaha so that's what it was!
You should have made them pronounce steak!
Hahaha, I did actually say that but ended up cutting it
😋😋😋😋
😁🌶🇹🇭🙏
Prefer the crispy noodle version in Chiang Mai not a fan of that flat rice noodle even if sliced
Each to their own mate. I'll have a bowl of both!
You should bring Gina more she can eat haha
Hahah, she’s a legend!
best for last
always!
น่ากินคับ

Even it shares the same name, it's clearly not having coconut milk in it. Why do you assume which one is the original? Thai food doesn't just show up after RUclips originating in 2005.
Because this is a century old dish from Xishuangbanna and the other was made in (as far as I can tell) in around the 1940’s in Chiang Mai. I’m not a native speaker but as I understand it, Khao soi means cut the rice so it must have been made with rice noodles originally to get that name I’d imagine. I didn’t get any of this information from RUclips though sorry. I’m happy to be corrected 🙏
@@theroamingcook This dish look like ขนมจีนน้ำเงี้ยว, not ข้าวซอย in Northern Thai version.
Yes correct
😂 Some Thai 🇹🇭 names sound identical to us but they are not, it's all to do the a slight positioning of the tongue 😝 😂🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, Thai language is TONE-L, , for example, the word KAO, could means rice, enter, news, knees, and white😁. Flexing the tongue is the correct way to do it, but the easiest way to tell what the word means is to understand the subject of the conversation. 🙏
Yeah it's tough out here
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
🍜🇹🇭🍜🇹🇭🍜🇹🇭🍜🇹🇭
👍✨💫✌️😎
🇹🇭🙏♥️🌶
😅😅😅 It's just a local rice noodle soup so it no need a fancy name for it!! Which ever fill your boots 😉 by the way khao soy is a difference type of noodle soup! Comparing apple and pear will never see the same 😉 .... the thai vender was kind to blanched veggies for you separately 👏 get a guide so you will get a better fact.... it was frustrated listen to you!
Thanks Suzy, I think Gina just compared with the Khao soi everyone knows in Chiang Mai because this is the original Khao Soi from Yunnan 🙏
Dood🙏.
