    Glad to see that Schneider is back 🔙 n the training business! They do an incredible job!! I trained at Green Bay in 2007. Then drove for Schneider for three years. I have been an Owner Operator for five years now. As I start my 15th year of accident-free driving I attribute much of it to the amazing training I received at Schneider.

      I went to Green Bay, Wisconsin to train in Feb 2001 then with a training engineer but I still couldn't get the downshifting down but upshift was easy to remember. I was just an idiot especially when I never learned before hand on any manual transmission.

    First let me say for a new driver, Schneider's training program is one of the best in the industry. Schneider has great perks like new shoes every year, company car, some operating centers have a cafe and a gym. Free laundry and a generous vacation package that goes up to 4 weeks with time. There are down sides to Schneider as well, no company is perfect, however you can't ask for a better place to start. I drove for them for 10 years and now do something eles.

    If you guys like fast paced come here. They're the quickest one to get you out of the trainer's (TEs) truck, and into your company truck. If you are slower, and you need extra time and attention, be honest with yourself, and go to a company that has longer training. They are good about explaining things so that you can understand and get it in your first few trys, but if you know you struggle greatly with certain things, go to a company that will train you to do what you need to do. Not everyone is built the same, or thinks the same, so there is no shame in getting yourself some repetitive training.

    i drove for swift for a year after i got my cdl in 2010. i quit and started driving for Schneider at a wal mart distribution center in olney, il doing wal mart Dedicated to be closer to home. i didn't even know about the quarterly safety bonuses. in my orientation i was GIVEN a map guide. the same one that swift sells to their drivers. at the terminal in Edwardsville, il there was a courtesy car which i never needed to use but there was also one in olney that i did use a few times when stuff was slow. i quit Schneider to do local after a year. i don't know if Schneider still does the bonuses but they were tremendous for the year i was there. i try to let every swift driver know that i come across. hands down Schneider was a better experience👍

    The information from orientation was great but I got shafted my last two days before I was done. My first week went well and I was under the impression that I was doing great because every instructor I had, didn't have any issues with my pre trip, coupling, uncoupling or backing. The second week things were smooth and my new instructor told me I was in phase 3 ahead of time. On wed I did my final evaluation and was told I passed. Thursday came and everything was normal until after lunch. The lead instructor told me and another guy to pre-trip his truck, which was normal. Told me to hop in and ill be driving first. Everything was normal and we went back to the yard to park the truck. When I got out he said my backing was terrible and that I needed more training. I was confused because I got the truck in there with no problems. He asked the other guy to park the truck in a different spot and had to help him back but said nothing about his backing. He told me on Friday I will be doing backing all day with other people. Friday comes and he tells us that we have 15 mins to park the truck and if we go over that time he will rotate to the next person. First person does it in 11mis. The second guy does it in 19mins but he didn't pull him out. I did it in 8mins but he tells me that im backing dangerous. I ask him how and he says because im backing on my blind side. I tell him that I walked around and knew 100% I wasn't going to hit anything, which other instructors said was fine. The next time I go to back I make sure to go straight in the hole by using all the space I have. I get out and he says, if the trailer I was next to was more forward I would have hit it. I told him if it was more up I would have parked it differently to make sure I wouldn't hit it. I go again for my last backing before lunch and get it in with no problems. I ask him was it dangerous and he says no. After lunch he pulls me aside to talk to the director and they said they had to let me go because of backing. I went through all these days with no issues but now all of a sudden my backing isnt safe which was obviously crap because they had a guy literally hit a trailer backing up a week before we showed up and he was still able to progress at Scdneider. I went from being 100% sure of passing to dropped in less than 48 hours all because of the lead instructor bs

      Sure, there's a lot of BS, that's why I got out, but today it's different, they can't do what they used to do, like I had to do 250 4 count side straddle hops because I lost the spring in my weapon, I could have went to S4 and asked for a new one, but instead I was honest, or the time when I got smoked for having my hands in my pocket, because I was getting my keys out and the ring got stuck on my pocket, there's so many other examples, but if I knew then what I know now I would have stayed and embraced the suck.
      Now that's going to be the 2nd biggest regret in my life, and I'm still messed up over it.

    Oh awesome! I took a 4-year break to get my degree in something unrelated and am looking at driving again. I miss it! 😊 I loved driving those big trucks all over kingdom come.
    I was concerned because my experience isn't lengthy and it has a break in it. I am trying to figure out what to do to get hired. Do I pay for a refresher course, yada, yada, yada! It looks like this company will take care of refreshing my skills adequately. I will have to keep them in mind.
    I haven't heard great things about the pay though. I'm trying to separate the bitter types from the more honest opinions on the matter.
    I have to take care of some things before I take steps to get back out there. I thought it would behoove me to start researching now and by the time I'm ready, I can implement action right then.
    I hope I find the right place to fit in with for a couple years. I have a goal and getting the foundational experience in is imperative.
    Thanks for the video! 😊

    • @Titan.Fox56
      @Titan.Fox56 2 года назад +1

      I won't say 100% sense this video was a year ago but from the video with seeing the simulator part they might train in manual but they probably went fully automatic. I think from my point of view it seems the only ways to get a non restricted licenses nowadays are going to a college that offers the course, going to a cdl school like road masters or something like them that offer training in manual, or going basically on your own which means learning in a truck if you have a friend or family member that owns their truck. Sense nowadays even tho manuals are still out there but the training isn't. Probably best way to ask them is contacting a recruiter there and seeing if they do give the option to train/test out of a manual

    I have a lot of issues with Schneider that will get sorted out in court. However what I can say is that the people at orientation was great. John is a decent guy and the trainers I have dealt with are second to none. The lady at the beginning who is sitting at the table is who took me on my road test. She was great. Other than that once you get in then you will see exactly how they will treat you. If only they had the right people in certain positions then maybe I wouldn't bring on a claim against them.

      i drove for swift in 2010 for a year then schneider for a year wal mart dedicated. i was a company driver. swift would want you to idle under a certain % or they would mess with you. schneider would give you a bonus four times a year if you met their idle requirements. they would even not count the idle if the high temp was over 90. they also had a courtesy car where i ran out of. i quit to run local ltl for central transport(terrible) and have been doing shipping containers for the last 7 and a half years. i know that as a whole, trucking just sucks in general. but i try to let every swift driver i come across know that schneider was better, hands down.
