SHe'd get along well with a local "granny" who lived near y family when we were in Dallas, Tx. She had inherited some old paintings, and a criminal found out. He apparently decided to break into her place to steal them. Little 84 year old shouldn't be a threat, right? Wrong. The little old lady was sharp as a tack and a local pistol champion. When he breaks in, she meets him at the door with a pistol in hand. Apparently, she told him that a) the cops had already been called and b) if he took one step towards her, she would shoot out his kneecap - and he got to pitch which knee. He thought she was bluffing and told her "the left one".
Long story short, when the cops arrived a few minutes later, the guy was rolling on the floor with a destroyed left knee crying in pain and terror. He BEGGED the cops to get him away from "the psycho granny!". No charges were filed against her and an officer stayed with her until the repairman could get there for the door.
Robber: don’t call the police

It's not always avoidable but as a female, avoid physical conflict with a male at all costs. The difference in muscle mass is already large but the difference in strength is nearly astronomical, as much as 90% in many cases.
My mother is an average sized woman at around your height (5'4) and has a set of french doors in her house on which only one has a handle. The other has a locking mechanism on the inside edge that slides up and down to either lock it in place or let it swing freely. She cannot, with all her force, move that lock in either direction. I, an average sized male (5'10 176 lbs), can simply grip the edge of the door with one hand and use a finger or two to move the lock. Same with my slightly larger father.
What this woman did was impressive given her age and size, but she was fighting off a guy 3 sheets to the wind who likely had no idea where he was, what he was doing or what was happening. Were the encounter against an alert minded, able-bodied male with malicious intent, this story would almost certainly have had a different outcome.

I used to be an outdoors man, hunting, fishing, year round camping, canoeing, motorcycle road racing (sanctioned), so much more. I was extremely physically fit. Then, at about 45, illness struck. I can not exercise any longer, I can barely walk.
