- Hildegard Knef - This girl's in love with you 1969
Original 'This Guy's in Love with You' by Herp Alpert 1968
You say this girl
This girl's in love with you
Yes I'm in love
Who looks at you
The way I do
When you smile
I can tell
We know each other
Very well
How can
I show you
I'm glad
I've got to know you
Cause I've heard some talk
They say you think
I'm fine
Yes I'm in love
And what I'll do
To make you mine
Tell me now
Is it so
Don't let me be
The last to know
My hands are shakin'
Don't let
My heart keep breakin'
Cause I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love
In love with this girl
If not I'll just die
(Instrumental)
Tell me now
Is it so
Don't let me be
The last to know
My hands are shakin'
Don't let
My heart keep breakin'
Cause I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love
In love with this girl
If not I'll just die

Hilde is a Genius, Hollywood would have destroyed her...Hildegarde got to remain true to who she was and what she was...was STYLE, Artistry.....INTEGRITY and a good friend to those who were in her life VIVA KNEF!
smoky and distinctive. she was lucky to get out of hollywood. they would not have let her do this. thanks from ireland. x
Fine Song, Hilde!
Aloha from Hawaii!
She sings with a deep voice but she has depth and feeling and transmits both. Nice to hear her sing.
My God!! Where have I been I love this!!!
So beautiful and tingling
Einfach nur grossartig!
I was with my Dad in Berlin in late 60's early 70's. He was with Philips of Netherlands and was making videos for their record label using new technology, way before MTV. I remember seeing Hildegarde Knef in studio, she brought her daughter with her who was about 6 at time. She sang Happy Birthday to someone in her crew. Till this day I remember that, I can't even remember the video. She sang it so unique, never heard anything like it. I was about 12 at the time. I didn't understand a word in German but I loved to hear her just talk. She could make even German sound nice!
abfabinri German sounds GREAT and nice - why the EVEN :-)

That's so awesome
Ich liebe ihre minimalistische Art. Ganz wunderbar, danke für den Upload! :-)

Fritz
Vielen dank fur diese video-what an absolutely sublime performance- there cannot be a better version of this song from anyone. Beautiful girl, beautiful voice.
Elle avait du chic et du chien, le sens du tempo, une voix suave, sensuelle et rocailleuse à la fois.
Cette voix et ce caractère de battante, et cette force intérieure
Quel plaisir de l'écouter encore et encore. Merci Hildegard!
GEWELDIG HILDEGARD JE WAS EEN WERELDSTER
OOK IN 2020 NOG GOUD
WUNDERBAR GRAZIE
Hilde danke !!!!
O wie wunderbar. Es ist Sonntagmorgen. Beginnender Herbst bei schönem, trockenen Wetter. Und dann das Lied. Hildegard. YEAH! Herzlichen Dank, Fritz einen 😘😘😘Und dass der Text dabei ist, ist Luxus 😃

Awesome
i'm in love with this Neff/Knef...
Hilfe danke !!
I just discovered this song on the "Hildegard Knef & Orchester Kurt Edelhagen - Knef Concert (1968)" recording while riding the train. Let's just say I had it on loop for at least an hour :) In comparison you can tell in this version she's been singing it for a year. I knew there was something Bacharach-esque about it and it was really interesting to get home and see how huge this song was. With all the covers by some of the biggest names out there, Ella, Dione, Aretha, Dusty in MY opinion...Hilde owns it, she really brings it home. Please check out the version I mentioned, it's quite different from this and has lovely nuances of innocence and sincerity that really brings it home. I'm now a fan.
Astonishing! She takes a comparatively mundane song and transforms it into something sublimely memorable. Miss Knef was a true survivor as anyone aware of her wartime experiences and subsequent battles with ill health can confirm. A remarkable artiste and an equally remarkable woman.
"comparatively mundane song" .......and that's why i thumbed you down.
Almighty Shux That's ok.Some people like Bacharach & David and some people don't. Thank goodness we don't all like the same things. The world would be a much duller place.
Mundane song! this is one of the greatest songs ever written. I think she kind of slaughters it too.
Unusually compelling -
Who in the hell is backing her up on this? They are perfection!!
Divina,indimenticabile,sensualissima,adorabile, fantastica voce!!!Ti ameremo sempre.
She sounds like Marlene Dietrich.
hi iarla baby SORRY for Hollywood to let her go. Maybe she would have changed it and less studios had to close...
@ AA Traurig...
She was my father's girlfriend in 1957. He took me with him to Berlin when we stayed with her. She didn't like the fact that my father brought me with him and she sure let me feel it. I did not like her.
