I love that 10 years on from the birth of things, we have gone from taping gopros to airframes, through all the evolution of servo, Alexmos and modern brushless gimbals, back to strapping cameras to airframes and trying to find ways to damp out the vibrations! 😄 I also love that pilot skill has come back into it.

I think that the motors are something to work on. following kabab's motor size chart there's a ratio that comes out between the stator diameter and height. (stator diameter / stator height) should be between 3.5 and 5. If you go lower than 3.5 you get an inefficient motor because it heats up, if you go over 5 you get a motor that flies bad, if you go way higher, around 7 or 9 you start to have desyncs. Keeping the 2812 stator volume while having a ratio between 3.5 and 5 gives motor sizes like 3507.5, which has a ratio of 4.6, very similar to kabab's new motor (of which I'm not going to tell the size). If I was about to ask a manufacturer to make me a new motor for this kind of build I would ask for a 3507.5 1200kv. A little higher kvs than the 2812 in the video but you can work your kvs with scaling and finding what you think is the most appropriate. NB: this are assumptions based on someone else's work, not mine, I'm just thinking with his numbers. Let's talk about it in a polite way :)

HOWEVER ... don't think that I didn't notice you didn't do any of your fancy rolls and flips while LOS hovering that thing . . . ;-)
Edit: OK, so I spoke too soon, and you did do your fancy rolls while flying LOS outside. I hereby acknowledge that I was wrong in calling you out and that you have upheld your standing as an elite pilot in the upper echelon of the FPV world, even when there are thousands of dollars of camera gear at stake. And I hereby promise to never doubt your skills again, unless doing so provides a small amount of humour in a RUclips comment.

The advantage of the Thicc is I've actually had props come unscrewed in flight with a 3 pound payload and it flew home fine. I hate to admit 8 props is just too many to remember when tightening them down. :) So there's some motor/ESC failure tolerance there that the quad doesn't have. And, funny you thought rectilinear is "unnatural". I LOVED it. Superview is way unnatural to me.

Impressive show of payload capabilities in terms of potential IMO but I am still new and learning and maybe way wrong and off. Like you stated this particular build was for entertainment I wonder where the benchmarks are in order to start thinking about surpassing existing capabilities. One thing I noticed that I am sure you did as well was at 11:15ish there was a twitch or stutter looking like it was pulling down right and then back to center, it was fast and curious if it was a camera thing or actually entire unit thing. The foam thingy like you were saying could be it but because of where the craft was at the time (straight line of flight not a turn or flip or anything crazy) I thought maybe a motor? I thought to share in case it was a warning so to speak in the footage of something perhaps more than just the prime foam mount which turned out pretty nice btw not trying to sound critical.lol. Ty again sir for the content.

Hello Hello From Canada!! That quad is crazyzz in the best way!!! I saw you first in the Rotor Riot visit that made everyone cringe and step back after the POP when you plugged in the cells. LOL I nearly pissed myself laughing, because I thought they would have been ready for anything, but it freaked them out. Have you tested with other props like 5-blades? Going with the different configuration may help to get rid of that slight lag you described being like turbo lag. The Spitfire for example got more power and more power to the point that 2, 3 and 4 blades couldn't utilize the power potential. You have motors and a cell configuration that may spin the 3 blade so fast that it looses thrust. The Spitfire used 5 blades to use the massive power first to take off faster on shorter air strips, but also pass the motors high RPMs to higher thrust speed once flying. I think you have supersonic motors spinning a subsonic prop, to fast to get the initial torque for crisper response. I am so glad I found your channel though. It is hard to find anyone pushing the envelope like you have with your "???". I am new to your channel so I do not know if you have come up with a name for this little beast yet. Keep up the awesome content my friend and I can't wait to see more insane stuff you come up with.

But I watched one of your vids where you tested those TrueRC Patch antennas for long range and penatration and Im wondering if those would work on the fatshark goggles or if those are specifically for DJI, if not what antennas would you recommend to use, btw im using a taranis 9XD radio if that matters. Hey, nice idea! Have you considered using the Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens for this? I guess you use the Laowa because of it's center of gravity, weight and wide focal length, but I seriously think you might have better results with the canon. It's super lightweight, too. Great video and amazing concept! :D Gives me hope for having a cine camera on a smaller bird one day. ADVICE/IDEA: look up the Z-cam E2-M4 camera for this setup - it is cheap, takes same lenses as you use on the BMPCC (m4/3) stock, but you can also buy canon, etc mounts for future proofing. I've shot indie films on both - the Zcam is EASILY heavier than the BMPCC as its metal not plastic - BUT it's a tiny cube shape, so perhaps you might find it easier to mount/fly as the weight i imagine would be more evenly distributed?? Just an idea! :D Keep being awesomesauce xxx

    Really cool!
I'm just wondering how you stabilize footage from the pocket 4k? There isn't a specific software for that right?
