What is Dowager's Hump or Buffalo Hump? Dowager's Hump is also known as hyperkyphosis or kyphosis. It's an excessive curvature of the spine and appears as a large bump at the base of the neck.
What this video to learn more about Dowager's Hump correction with deep massage and manual therapy techniques. For MAT courses, certification options, workshops, and much more, visit erikdalton.com/
This hyperkyphosis of the upper thoracic spine makes the head jut forward, putting stress on the cervical or neck muscles. For every inch of forward-head posture, it can increase the head's weight on the spine by an additional 10 lbs.

Aloha Erik! This is wonderful and incredibly informative, taking massage techniques to another level for those with dowager's hump. I for one liked the cadaver visuals as it addes to my visual understanding of the tissues under my hands. Thanks so much!!

I came to see you many years ago. You helped with fatty tissue starting then, along with pain in other areas. Now I have developed that hump and need help. I heard you have retired, and have a part time home in another place. Who do you recommend here in OKC now so I can get help again? Thank you, and I hope you are doing well.

while your rubbing on his neck standing and look at how his rear end is sticking out in a posterior fixation. when he goes to the sitting position and the tension on the meninges are loosened enough to stop the tension in the cord all the way up to the brain stem.see your lookin at the surface muscles. as the spine goes from flexion to extension the tension on the meninges changes. that is why some people have more symptoms standing or vice versa sitting
