So far one of the best moments in the game for me - still cant believe this game exists, and it’s beyond all of my expectations. Square Enix really delivered!
It's not that's its boring. Remake had a tighter focus. The open world imo just adds too much bloat. They could easily have made all 3 parts into one epic game removing the bloat and making a more focused story but w/e. Nowadays devs think adding a giant map to complete things on means adding replay value 🤣
Honestly what’s getting me are the mini games. I’m not even at gold saucer yet. And I’m just done playing them lol. At this point I’m just like “siiigh another mini game…” But… this part was awesome.. just beat this boss and explored Costa Del Sol.
They managed to kick up the notch by making the theme even more nightmarish and alien-like through adding some psycho strings. Props to the music department!
I did this fight last night and both my brother and I had the exact same thought. We love that show and I couldn't stop grinning when I heard this theme, I love it so much
I'm really happy that the team working on these games are emphasizing the real cosmic horror and sheer "otherness" that Jenova is. No matter what form it takes, you immediately know how deep the stakes are.
This scene remade made it make much more sense compared to the original. The clones were carrying jenovas arm, and they fuse with it (mini reunion), this increasing its mass. From there, it took a form she seems fit. In the original game it was made clear that Sephiroth was controlling Jenova and anyone carrying its cells, but it could be very much the opposite taking into account the speed presented here. It could be just Jenova taking Sephiroth's image all the time because he is who Cloud fears and hates due to him basically destroying his hometown. After tsuntont Cloud it tales a form close to its original look, although its hard to know since she's basically a virus that consumes mass and replicates, apart from having powerful psychic power. I hope the whole trilogy gives Jenova the proper spotlight as the actual big big bad of the story.
I like the wing on the old PSX model for Jenova-Birth are now the arms of the clones as Jenova is reconstituting their bodies to suit itself. Much like its inspiration The Thing.
One of the best boss intro cutscenes I've seen. It's competing with some of my favourites from FromSoft ware games. The hype getting into the fight was real
Speakong of Fromsoft. I remember when I saw the hands in the second phase. I jokingly called her "Jenova the Grafted". Also, I feel like Astel has some SERIOUS Jenova vibes. Alien with a skull face that laid waste to an ancient civilization.... Yeah, major Jenova vibes.
I think the transition from a nightmare boss to a beach resort could have been better. Like as soon as you kill jenova the captain is just like okay everybody get a good nights rest lmao
Just beat this boss, several things. 1) I am happy and nervous about the way Jenova has been handled in the Remake trilogy so far. She seems to be a lot more important this time around, but that also makes me nervous that the sting of her possibly still being Sephiroth's minion worse. 2) Another slam dunk with the Jenova theme remixes. 3) Finally, a quality boss fight. Not that the others were bad (except Terror of the Deep, that was bad for a variety of reasons) but they have all been way too easy (which I could deal with if not for the next part) and way too short. They all just died too quickly before the mechanics could get interesting. But this fight, none of those issues. Hoping this is the turning point for boss quality in the game.
@@DecimatedSoul I killed them too fast to get a proper impression from either of them, espeially poor Midgardsormr. Barely got to see his mechanics or hear his phase 3 theme.
Phenomenal game. I just left kalm and the games perfect. Hearing the overworld theme gave me goosebumps. They absolutely nailed the ship fight with Jenova
They say she’s a monster…that she can peer inside you…into the very depths of your soul. That she can become those you fear. Those you hate. Those you love. And they call her…….JENOVA. I love this game
Jenova was my favorite boss (all forms) in the original. And Remake/Rebirth both gave us awesome fights against it. I'm in chapter 7 and I'm hyped asf for the next fights against it now.
Sephiroth introducing Jenova was badass. What a beautiful remake to this scene from the 99 version. Thank you square enix and thanks to you the fans for making this dream come true

Everyone talking about the theme it’s hard but sephiroths monologue and the music behind it goes unnecessarily hard I had goosebumps
Yup, i felt the same way

Same. I’m like living a childhood dream right now. It’s wild! 😁

2:47-3:20 Holly crap! This rendition of J-E-N-O-V-A goes even harder than the one from the third phase of Jenova Dreamweaver's boss fight
They managed to kick up the notch by making the theme even more nightmarish and alien-like through adding some psycho strings. Props to the music department!
Don't know why, but it feels like something out of Demon Slayer when I listen to it.
I disagree. I like the Remake version way better because phase 3 is way closer to the OG OST. BUT, this one is still great!
At one point I paused it to listen to it 😊
Now that was some scary shit!
This music slaps. It was like jonova mixed with farescape opening at the starts. Loved it.
Literally, my thoughts when the singing started. One if my favorite shows

Jenova is an incredible antagonist. Holy Christ
Combination of Lavos & a Xenomorph Queen.

So far the highlight of my playthrough. At first it was junon but after sepiroths speech and the music going so hard I found my new favourite moment
It gave me goosebumps for so long

I mean they are on a boat just in the middle of the ocean what else are they supposed to do.
Yeah i think theres some bits so far where the pacing is nonsense

This version of Jenova gives off sum nightmarish resident evil vibes holy shit. lol
Straight out cosmic horror
It's fitting, considering what Jenova is.
I realized that Yuffie run away because the color was similar to Nero, that activate her trauma.
Thought about The Witcher immediately hearing his track. It's like if a Witcher track was done in Final Fantasy VII.
First thought as well
Fuck yeah, those vocals really did the job ❤
I love how they're fully leaning into the cosmic horror of Heaven's Dark Harbinger

the reveal of this jenova was a cinematic masterpiece
the music giving re:zero vibes i love it. what a take on the original !
