For interpreting the transition/hover symbology - the cyclic stick directly moves the acceleration cue (small circle), with a small delay built in. The acceleration cue, in turn, directly moves the velocity line, again with a small delay. For hovering over your bob-up marker, treat the cyclic stick as a mouse stick and the acceleration cue as a mouse cursor, and place the cursor in the target. as long as you keep the acceleration cue in the bob-up target, the helicopter will move towards/remain inside the selected point.
Excellent video. Very helpful. Most of the other videos are focusing on subject which assume the viewer already knows a bunch of things about the aircraft.
Like most I was heavy handed coming from fixed wing and my "simulator" hover training was my instructor handed me a plate with a rubber ball. After a few hours of balancing that ball on the plate it actually helped me visualize and feel what little movement is needed. Don't set any dead zone. I also iirc set the x&y curves to 70% which feels like a real H-500E to me. Then gradually decrease it as you practice.
Hugely helpful! I was struggling with the trim functions especially and you explained the keybinds and method very well. I hope you'll do more...subscribed! 👍
Holy hell man this video has helped me immensely. I can get off the ground and trim up to forward flight where before I was only able to fly if air started. Learned ole ham fisting the controls doesn’t help either. Thanks for another awesome video!
Must admit, the Apache has been a struggle flying for me. She does not feel heavy like I would get from using the controls in the KA-50 black shark. A bit of applying too much control get the Ah-64 out of control which oftentimes ends in crash. Your video put a lot of light in those dark areas of flying the aircraft. Thanks a lot for the time and effort.
I can’t thankyou enough for your videos. They’re the warm hug we all need. It’s the module of dreams and it’s so nice to be able to learn it through you and Casmo
@@OverkillSimulations he is but so are you and your approach and viewpoint is so refreshing and humble yet has all of what we need. Stay safe and thank you
Thanks OverKill, really enjoyed and learned a lot from this video. I would say that for me, it was no waste of time, and I look at it as a great investment in time I look forward to other DCS AH-64D Apache videos that you do, off to see if you have already done others. Subscribed now and notifications etc
What I found is that if u put the rudder on a rotary axis it will stay there and is so much easier to control....u will need almost no trim...because it will trim the rudder with the rotary axis. And u don't need to turn the sensitivity down...wich makes the apache much more agile and you can turn a 180 fromm fullforward flight back into the other direction by pulling back ...full rudder right ..and full forward...but my stick has only one slider....but maybe you can try it and use it
Attitude hold has 3 functions. Not sure if it works in dcs. But attitude is actually a position hold under 6 kts. A velocity hold up to 40kt. And only an attitude hold greater than 40 kts
Central Position Trimmer should always be the default setting. I don't know why we always have to change that. It would save so much frustration for trimming, especially for new players that don't know to look in the options. The toe brakes also always need to be inverted it seems with every module, and I don't know why they don't also change that.
Another great video just what we need to get started. Can you post exactly what are your Hotas assignments are for thrustmaster warthog, I don’t what to purchase another joy stick and throttle, thanks
Hi Sir, great video. Learned alot from yourvideos. Very clear and conscise. I hv a question, nobody is talking abt the stabalizer and what it does. Im kinda lost with this function/s. Would you know what's the purpose of it? Thank you
Thanks for the Tips, HMD is fine by me and TDC,,,,so THAT's what it is. Makes sense now. Would love to see how you've set up on the warthog for weapons when you get there, I'm struggling with too many things for the Apache Collective...which the warthog just does not have lol
Great stuff, I’m turning off all symbology for landing and takeoff, way to distracting. Having spent years flying helicopters in DCS this one is slightly different
Bring up the control view with R Ctrl+enter to help manually reset it, the Apache has no reset trim button. The more you fly it you'll realize it doesn't need one.
@@OverkillSimulations I couldn't see it on my phone!!! It got cut off. Watching on my PC now. Thank you! Other than Wags many people don't show this and it has left me very confused. Thanks! Also great video that has helped me get up in the air.

That's genius
You gave me the best tip when you said the Apache was available. I somehow missed it.

Very useful vid, others have been impenetrable nonsense but this actually made it all quite straight forward. Nice one.
Thanks a lot for this video. Very helpful. Now able to start up, taxi and use trims.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for. Keep up the great work!

You bet!!
This was great. Thanks for all the trim info. It helps.
This is going to help me a lot. Thanks for your content.
Very helpful tricks in there. Really helped me out. Good work!

Really thanks .. finally a clear and understoodable explaination for who never fly a chopper ! have my sub

what button are you using to trim? and on that subject, what do you press to un trim the aircraft?

thank you sir that was a great help to kinda get familiar with the bird so i can go from there (learning navigation, weapons yada yada. much love!

Yeah as a newbie I think a bit of curve would make sense as default too as most of us are on regular sticks.
Love this heli!!

Give me a few more days. I'm still constantly moving things around

Thank you. You good. I just make big holes on the ground with my landings. ;)
What kind of curves do you use in the cyclic, rudder and collective?
GREAT Vid!!! Keep them coming!:)

Do you have the RUclips channel of the pilot of AH-64 that you mentioned in your vid?
Great video brother…👍😎
Check out CasmoTV it’s brilliant content 👍🏻
I really dug this video :)
easy way to remember that thing in your face, call it the i-hud or eye hud
Great video mate, this is exactly what I needed. I'll run through your playlist now. Sub'd, bell'd and liked.
Great Video to help with the Ah64. Can any one help me on which button is the TDC overkill is talking about on the TM hotas throttle
Little mouse right throttle about where your middle finger would rest
It’s a lot to cover isnt it? Hard to compress so much info into a short video.
Great video thanks
Your work is awesome in this and in other modules. Can you share your RS mapper profiles?
Give me a few more days. I'm still moving things around a lot

They said the altitude hold will be added later thats why it doesnt work
Whenever I try to fly mine it try’s to go into an uncontrollable spin
which track ir you using?
04:30 Wags confirmed alt hold for trimmer not yet implemented
Maybe do one on shooting targets next time and using all the payloads. Thanks. Ill def watchit
Guns coming next!
Woooohooo. Cant wait to be a competent noob
How come your eye hmd, doesn't have that outline?
In the begining of the video I demonstrate how to turn the monocle off, that's what that setting does :) Hope that made sense.
Hello is a Curve on the Pitch axis X and Y?
Y would be pitch
@@OverkillSimulations yes x roll and y pitch! Has you a curve an the axis? Example 20
Wags said that altitute hold is not implemented yet.
Danke ☺️
thankyou very helpfull
no reset trim and autohover?
No. You can hover easily once you trim properly
@Hawker75 yes, however not possible in multicrew
Bring up the control view with R Ctrl+enter to help manually reset it, the Apache has no reset trim button. The more you fly it you'll realize it doesn't need one.
@@rajm1976 Not really, plus the apache has an auto hover irl
@@rajm1976 Not even possible when your the pilot
If you got any question on what things are actually called in real life let me know. DCS gets a few things wrong with apache compared to real life.
Casmo btw.
Am I the only that thinks most tutorials like this should show the control inputs graphic?
Huh?? I did??

Alt hold only works below 1400 als
At the time of this video it wasn't implemented lol. That was my bad
@@OverkillSimulations lol i just learned it today so no worries
alt hold is not functional yet, wags put this out on his latest video
