I am working on an install now and ran out of wire, I ran to a local shop and grabbed some 4 gauge and 8 gauge. It was JL Audio and it was nice wire $3 and $2/ft.
Thank you for great content, audio, video, editing & hard work. It ain't easy. My advice is to go buy 1/0 or 2/0 welding wire cable locally in bulk. 1. You can shop for lowest prices 2. You can see it, feel it first hand your not guessing what your getting in the mail 3. You might have to pay taxes but you save on shipping & you don't have to wait for it
Welding wire has always been my go to since it's easier to get around here. Plus I have a buddy that runs a welding/gas business and he can get me just about anything.
Definitely appreciate this one Rob. People should know the NVX wire and D4S wires are the same. Unless you’re looking for flexible cable just grab some 4/0 welding cable folks
Thanks for compiling this useful data, Hifi. When leveraging weight against cost per foot (with current costs from the spreadsheet), the Temco 2/0 and 1/O Welding cable offerings smokes 'em all. If I were to opt for the best value for tinned, I would look at Full Tilt and Knukonceptz. I got turned on to Knukonceptz by Mark from Car Audio Fab, so I am already heavily vested in that brand. Them fools at JL smoking far too much high grade to be at $14 per foot. Brand name recognition in this instance is so not worth it... 🤣
I’m always going to say welding cable is the best. It’s rated for hot, cold, abrasion and using it myself dragging welding leads through rain, mud, snow, water for over 10 years drilling water wells with same leads the entire time and literally only repaired connections like once tells me all I need to know. I don’t know of any car audio cable that would make it a week without having holes rubbed through them all over and probably wouldn’t survive vibration and just riding on the rig wrapped up.
I bought a JL Audio dual amp 1/0 kit back in 07. If I remember correctly it was $260. It came with distribution block, fuse, all the bits and pieces and the wire was tinned with the red outer layer being pealable to a clear under jacket. Even then I thought it was way too expensive when I bought it. $700 for 50 feet of copper wire, even $550 is just boarder line extortion.
Rockford fasgate wire is tinned they just use a proprietary liquid crystal instead of silver. I also believe that the amount of strands matter drastically with dc voltage.
I buy from sky high because they sell on ebay by the foot no matter what kind wire you need and or want ....and so far the quality of all the wire I have bought from them has been top notch.....and shipping has been on time ( if not early than estimated) and hassle free ...I do need to do a big 3 soon and plan on getting that from you
I go with knu concepts but really it's because they're close to me. I can order Monday afternoon and it will be delivered Wednesday by 8am and the product is good.
@@HifiVega conductor size, shielding, twisted or not, drain wire or simply two conductor, RCA connector size, feel & perceived quality, flexibility, maybe a resistance test, you might even be able to pick up noise when "ran" along side a power wire using an o-scope... Just some ideas if you're seriously considering it
Have you seen the new belva single din with 5 volt preouts for $60 , if it's got a ok eq and crossovers built in , it would be a great budget banger head unit. Maybe a review ?
Idk Y people bash China or questions where raw materials come from ? There's no such thing as purity. Materials are recycled everywhere in the world. Do you honestly think steel made Pittsburgh PA is better than China. US actually buys more raw materials from China than vice a versa.

I can appreciate you simply stating not to buy kicker, especially knowing you sorta have relations with kicker
I love Kicker as a company and the people that work there, but I make videos for the community and I’ll always stay true to that
Keep it real pimpin! ;]

Surprised they had it that cheap!
@@HifiVega I called a few local shops, they had the cheapest 4 awg in town.

Temco shipped my 1/0 for free. I also got a little better price contacting them directly vs going through Amazon.

Lots of great options out there still even with rising prices.
@@HifiVega Indeed. If you in the need of buying a roll, you really shouldn't wait. Not sure when the market will normalize...

Always good vids!
Thanks!
Great video appreciate the work that went into this and the multiple comparisons!

Skyhigh has very fast shipping for sure! When you need that big 3 I got chu 😉

Their 4gauge has the most strands, to my knowledge
Great video
Gigi do some rca cable testing I’m curious on knu koncept Krystal vs sky high premium vs d4s as knu has better price point?
You should do this with RCA cables. That'd be dope!🤔 but fr everyone I know uses this cheat sheet 👏
A RCA compression would be cool, but I dunno what all ways I could compare them besides noise.

@@HifiVega what are some good RCA cables? Skar? Amazon basic?
Why tinned over welding copper?
In a moist environment the tinned copper will mot corrode as quickly and will hold up better

Hey, when your doing your weighing for the copper weight, is that the grams/ft?
Nice video my friend
Heck yeah!!
My guy coming through early!
You need to do a comparison of USA made Vs Chinese made Copper.
It would be hard to do without sending them to a lab to test the copper purity
Idk Y people bash China or questions where raw materials come from ?

the world. Do you honestly think steel made Pittsburgh PA is better than China. US actually buys more raw materials from China than vice a versa.
What I ment was
Do a comparison between China wire VS USA Wire companies.
I am sure a few companies like GP use USA copper.
Copper is copper
Wow JL is a flat out rip off
