  • This basic crochet Christmas stocking pattern is dressed up with a pretty fair isle design. In the video, I'll show you how to crochet this stocking from the bottom up starting with the toe, foot and short row heel. Then moving on to the leg, I'll give a quick introduction to fair isle crochet and finish it off with the textured cuff and sturdy hanger. This video is not a substitute for the written pattern.

    Thank you for sharing this pattern! This is the second crochet project I'm doing ever, since learning just over two weeks ago. I couldn't do it from just the written instructions alone, so this video is a big help!

    I love this! And I love that I can do Fair Isle now! I bought your pattern from your website and made three of the Nordic Snowflake Stockings before I finally decided to check out the video (making five for our family members). I couldn't remember if I was supposed to put a stitch right next to the chain one, at the end of the round, or not, or where I was truly supposed to put the first stitch. I've been crocheting half my life and can't remember anything lol. It was driving me nuts! Thanks for your video and I can't wait to try more of your patterns. To other crocheters who like written directions too: I recommend getting the PDF so you can print it. It's so much better than staring at your phone while you're trying to make something!

    Excellent tutorial. I agree that the music is intrusive though.

    Thank you, wonderful video!!! I've been wanting to make stockings for the whole family (including our pups 😊) and figured I'd better get going for next year. Im more of a knitter so learning as I go, but so far so good. This is the best video I've watched so far!

    Thank you, love this pattern. First time I've tried this type of "Fair Isle" colour work in crochet and found it easier than I expected. Going to make these for my grandchildren ❤️

    I'm in love with Fair Isle. Learned to knit just so I could do fair isle but I'm a much more comfortable crocheter. Love these stockings. You're so creative. Thank you for sharing your pattern.

    Great work!! Im going to start one tomorrow!! Not sure if you're audio is working correctly because it sounds like you're saying "acrosst" instead of "across". Thanks again

    adore this!
    But there is no T in across! you mentioned kids and school so I figured you would want that pointed out. Most of my kids have to be retrained out of that when they leave home schooling and enter a real class room

      @TheUnraveledMitten  Год назад +1

      I never realized I did that until I started making videos. I know there's no t in across, adding it is a regional thing, as far as I can tell, and is fairly common where I live. Just my Michigan accent coming through I guess.

    The pattern shows 4 snowflakes? It is more than the 48 stitches? Do I cut the pattern in half?

    Just a quick question, why did you not finish showing the part after the toe. You did the couple rows of changing the color but not how to do that little fair aisle part. You just went straight to the heel. This is my first pattern but now I don’t know how you did that part.

    • @TheUnraveledMitten
      @TheUnraveledMitten  Год назад

      If you skip ahead after the heel, I tell you how to read the fair isle charts. Also, please note the video isn't a substitute for the written pattern. You will still need that.

      @@TheUnraveledMitten i bought the pattern, and i found the written instructions for the charts, ive made about 6 of these so far for all the littles in the family. I do find it a little confusing to have to keep going back and forth thru the pattern to do the different parts but i finally figured it out, thank you

    if we want to make an XL sized stocking could I used 2 strands of a sport weight yarn and a larger hook
    ? Thank you for such a beautiful pattern!! :)

    • @TheUnraveledMitten
      @TheUnraveledMitten  Год назад

      I think a double strand of sport weight will not be enough to make it bigger. Possibly 2 strands of dk would. 2 strands of worsted definitely would.
