I absolutely hate when people are so dismissive to tell you to "just pick it out." It's infuriating! Whether it's an allergen or dietary preferences, people seem to stupidly think that picking out the offending ingredient(s) somehow magically negates the fact that it was COOKED into the rest of the dish! The meats, juices, etc blend together! There is no "picking it out" to make it safe!!!
My ex did this with me once. I'm very allergic to chocolate. She made chocolate chip cookies and I said I couldn't eat any. She said that it was too bad, and she guesses that her ex-wife will be able to know what her cookies taste like but I never will. My jealousy got to me and I took a bite. Within 20 minutes I was ill. My mouth was covered with cold sores and I had a rash going down my neck to my chest and down my throat. She didn't feel bad. I was an idiot and stayed. They're back together.

My sister is allergic to eggs. She has been told that there is no such thing as an allergy to eggs and accused of being picky. Her mil once mixed egg white in the mashed potatoes to "prove" that my sister was not allergic to eggs. My sister ate a few mouthfuls of mashed potato and then had to run to the bathroom to vomit. She left the bathroom door ooen so that the other dinner guests could gear her vomiting! When she got back to the table, her mil admitted that she had "forgotten" that she had put egg in the mashed potato. I will never understand why people feel that they need to test whether the person is really allergic. OP's bf's family had no respect for OP and deliberately served a meal that OP could not eat. They could have killed her. OP's revenge was epic! Disappointing story. All she does is turn the tables on the family by cooking food they don’t like instead of food they have allergies with like they did to her. Not sure why it’s mentioned she has a bf if he’s not mentioned all that much. Not sure why she didn’t lay some sort of boundary of you won’t go to the house if they aren’t going to take her allergy into account or even just leaving the situation and the people who don’t care about her.
