    Awesome ground floor already. Well done! One MINOR point is the top 1x1 round brick on the right should be a LBG normal 1x1 brick for symmetry. Details details! :) Can't wait for more...

    • @SmallBrickCity
      @SmallBrickCity  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks a lot! I never noticed that. It has to be a round brick, otherwise the garage door cannot close. However, that top brick should be light grey, not dark grey for visual symmetry. Thanks!!! It will be reflected in later parts as the next few parts have already been filmed.

    This is a neat concept and a nice start to the build.
    Knowing you, you've probably done the next video already, but I would like to suggest hinging the door on the right side so that you have more room to fold it and it doesn't encroach on to the next building. That might give you more room to open it fully so the fire truck can zoom out rather than having to navigate round the door!
    Or you could make it into two halves that both fold back on either side. If they were equal each half would have to be 6 studs wide which is a bit awkward as LEGO don't make a window frame that's 3 studs wide so you couldn't have two folds of 3 studs, you could have a fold of 4 studs and a fold of 2 studs. Or you could make one door 8 studs wide with 2 folds and one door that's 4 studs wide.
    Another idea is that you often see large industrial doors with a pedestrian door built in, so that a person can go in without opening the whole door; you could easily include a person-door into one of the panels so that a minifig can get in from the front before unlocking and opening the whole folding door.

      Hi Max, I tried different configurations and personally like the accordion fold. There is enough space for the truck to pass through safely as I was generous with the width. I did a 2/3 plus 1/3 left/ right opening but still think the accordion fold is the neatest and most novel. But yes, if anyone builds this in future, they can adjust the way the doors open as they like :) And yes, the next part is already filmed and ready to go tomorrow :)

    Good idea to draw out a rough footprint before starting - very helpful (and good illustration on how to use the notebook ;-) ). I like your garage door - interesting folding design - and the round bricks are a good solution! Great idea! It's a good start and I'm looking forward to the next step! Thanks for sharing your creativity and keep up the good work :-)

    • @SmallBrickCity
      @SmallBrickCity  5 лет назад

      That makes perfect sense and it just never occurred to me since I am so used to doors opening to the left. I have tried and so adjustments had to be made in the building technique and I have to shift the ventilator but it does work better so the doors do not open to the building on the left. The changes will be reflected in a later part in the series since a few parts have already been filmed. Thanks!

    Hi, I like your garage door. You could mount the door on the left (1/3) and on the right (2/3). That would make it more stable.

    • @SmallBrickCity
      @SmallBrickCity  5 лет назад +1

      It is actually quite stable once built up, as in when the top bar, plates and tiles are in place. I did explore that configuration but I like this accordion fold better.

    What sets do you recommend as “parts packs” for custom modulars besides the sanctum?

    • @SmallBrickCity
      @SmallBrickCity  5 лет назад +1

      Hmmm... that is tough as it really depends what colours you are looking for. Almost any building with lots of the same pieces would work, if the colours suit you. It also depends how much you want to spend. Assembly Square would give you an amazing assortment of parts.

    I like that the garage door isn't the usual rolling garage door seen in every City fire station set but something different altogether. Is that a green or teal brick separator? The white balance makes it difficult to tell, but I have a teal one from the Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi set.

    • @SmallBrickCity
