    I am not often commenting but considering the recent news, I wished I would have told you that before you passed away. Your passion as well as your behavior and enthusiasm made me buy again a Red Sea Max Nano peninsula. I have learned so much from your videos and I wished I would have commented that before. May you rest in peace, you will not be forgotten. ❤

    I really like that tank. It made me buy a used RS Max Nano myself as a new reefer. I think a lot of tanks are too full with too many different corals. I will pick a few I really like and just watch them grow. (hopefully)

      Or you can buy a bunch, have some die and grow the ones you keep. I stopped buying coral about a year ago, only way I buy a coral is if it’s a nice micro lord I don’t have. I’ve lost a 2 frogspawn frags, a couple hammers and so forth. I still have a bunch, but coral will always die. He will say it in his videos as well. The Duncan in this tank he’s showing died, so buy a nice amount of corals you want. It’s likely not all will survive, my Duncan’s were my first coral. They’re huge, each where single polyps and now have 6+ each

    i recently restarted my reef with simplicity in mind this time round. this nano reef build series has been such an eye opener on how we can seemingly over complicate things and can become distracted with all the cool reef gear and technology available to us. awesome work jake!

  • @ManiacalMangoes

    Love the low maintenance aspect of it and non fancy equipment. You see everyone and their brother saying get a wave maker! Do weekly water changes! Get a fancy doser! Etc. None of that seems necessary when you have a reasonable bio load and are only keeping a few LPS and soft corals. I’m planning something very similar in my new peninsula 25 gallon

    • @ManiacalMangoes
      @ManiacalMangoes 3 года назад

      Also appreciate the tolerance of the problem algaes and aptasia . People similarly act like if you get those you’re a huge failure or something and you’re showing, hey if you get it, it’s manageable

  • @Cosigner22

    I'm returning to the hobby after a 10 year hiatus. I own a Waterbox Peninsula 15 with mixed coral and have had it running for maybe 4 months with great success. I subscribe to the "help it crawl and when it walks don't touch it" method. I do a .33% water change every Sunday and outside of temperature and salinity I almost never test the water. I think people spend too much time chasing numbers instead of letting their tank do it's thing. One love!
