Thanks for the well researched and informative video. I focus on ten high end brands of designer silk ties. The cover photo tie presentation (rolled) can help improve the sell through and increase the sale price. I average $50-$75 for my ties. I include in the description that all ties are stored in a plastic tie sleeve, rolled and shipped in a box. Ferragamo, Pal ZILERI and Tiffany silk neck ties have sold well for me.

Ive been doing ties for a couple years now. They sell well.....in fact id say 50% of what i list go same day or wihtin the week for sure. Zegna is a good tie that can be easily found. Although the older ones wont reach past $20 or so. Same with alot of designer gucci, versace, Armani and other. Most are hardly worth listing unless its a nice solid color, repp stripes, classic designs. Wide 4" and wider ties are out right now. Skinnies are out for the most part escept for the square knit ties. Wool,Silk,cashmere. Brand doesnt really matter with those they will sell. Your top sellers are hermes of course. Kiton, chavat paris, brioni. Trumps are selling well for 20-30. But yea its a fun niche, and ive noticed more people getting into becaue i can hardly find anything! Lol....i have found many fake ties including hermes, versace, and even a zegna fake. You can still sell them for 20 or 30 as long as you disclose your not sure of authenticity, but still a well made silk tie
Thanks for the recent experience input! Just be careful on the items that aren’t authentic- some platforms will shut you down even with a disclaimer.

A few days ago you put neckties on my radar. I went thrifting today and remembered ties. I honestly had barely started watching your other video. I found 2 Kiton Napoli ties for $.95 a piece!!! I just comped them because they said Napoli. I visited Naples last spring and actually went into a beautiful men’s clothing store at the famous Galleria Umberto. Anytime I find made in Italy I want to squeal 😂!
I will say that the ties are substantial. They are a heavy silk, tight woven with a texture, it keeps them very stiff and crisp looking. They are 61” so pretty long. The 7 fold on the back is very interesting and beautiful. Really a very nice expensive looking tie. Apparently new they can run up to $300.00. I don’t think even the average Italian Man let alone an American can afford that! i suppoae the tie is akin to a womans handbag in terms of accessories so good for us resellers there's men who shop eBay for ties!!

Nope, ties are not "in" and not selling unless its luxury. When I tried to sell ties to consignments they won't accept them. "they don't sell." People are more casual and guys are going to work w/o ties.
Unless its a high-end designer, not worth it.

Just thought of another question possibly for your next video on ties. How do you store your ties after you’ve listed them? Currently I only have about 15 ties listed and they are all in Ziploc bags with a SKU number but I was wondering if there is a better alternative.

I used Ziploc baggies and under-the-bed storage totes. I had 3 totes. The ties were sorted by the designer.
I roll up and put in a ziploc also.

I think EBay automatically conjoins search terms such as "neck tie" to also search for "necktie." So maybe not a big issue, but I could be wrong.
Probably not a big deal, true. A quick search shows a different number of results between “neck tie” and “necktie”. Putting your listing in the right category is probably the most help.
Kiton is a Japanese brand and sell well.
How to you clean any spots on the ties? Any ways to clean them
You’d be surprised what a baby wipe will clean. I suppose if it was worth enough I’d use the dry cleaner. I’ve tried also to get better at spotting the stains before buying

Zegna is pronounced Zen-ya. I'm surprised at the prices for them, they are relatively easy to find, even the higher end line. Neckties are a crap shoot most of the time, it seems like a fickle category. I've had ties from high end designers listed for years that never sold so I finally ended them. Wonder where I put them, lol.
Yup for sure! Sometimes a lower end brand with a better theme will sell better than high end. It’s not a niche I spend a whole lot of time on but I like checking out what’s offered. Found some great vintage ones we’ll talk about next.

Good question! I try not to buy them....lol. But if I do end up with them...like I've picked up some that were SO COOL and old...I've procrastinated on listing them and I still have them.
If they're super collectible, I'd probably lot them up as a TLC lot and let the collectors who know what they're doing take care of them.
I don't have a steamer yet but that might be an option!
