- Hello everyone, this is my first time sharing my video clips with all of you, especially my Sony FX30 SLog3 video files to help you decide if it's the right camera for you. Hi! I downloaded your files and checked their metadata, this files aren't actually 4.2.2 chroma subsampling. It seems they have been reencoded from another software because they are showing extra info that shouldn't. Also, the files were renamed.
To properly test the footage you should upload the exact file that came from the camera without any trimming or postprocess in any third-party software. That way people can have a real representation of the footage.

Hello @WorldAlternativeMusic, I haven't tried it and I don't own one. I only have the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, as well as a 28mm Canon FD f/2.8 lens with an Urth adapter to fit the FX30.
@@BernieHipos i just want to make sure which is better. I watched couple of comparison videos but still not convince.
@@WorldAlternativeMusic, no worries at all! It's always good to compare and see what works best for you. I find the Sigma great since it's the right price for me, not only that, it's small and light too, and the autofocus is fast as well. I love the overall image I get out of it, with of course paired that with the Sony FX30. As for Sony, there are lenses available that are in the same price range as Sigma 18-50mm but will start at f/4 aperture instead of f/2.8, and for me, that's a deal breaker. I could be wrong though since I haven't tried a Sony lens before, maybe at f/4 it could still be good in low light.

Hey, thank you so much for this files, i found another guy who have some Slog3 files but he made the files 10 fps long so they are shorter than my short ... : )) He said if they were longer they wouldn't be free but i dont see why, so thanks a bunch. Do you expose to the right with Slog3? What LUT have you used for this video with you in the studio? Do you grade some more after adding the LUTs? I dont own yet a camera that can shot Slog and i want to practice with some LUTs and do some grading too.
@aexoerov5477, you're very welcome and I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm so glad you found my free S-Log3 files, and you get to try them out. Yes, I expose to the right up to +2.0 sometimes, depending on whether it's indoors or outdoors. For outdoor shots though, and as much as possible, I stay to zero because some LUTs tend to expose the footage a bit more, and kind of hard to get the proper exposure back, but for some shots definitely exposing to the right is key to get better results. For my talking head videos, it's at +2.0. I use Phantom LUTs and nothing else. All I do is adjust the contrast and sometimes exposure to get the final look I want. Sometimes, I stack the neutral LUT and another LUT on top of it for finishing. It varies actually, but using any of the Phantom LUTs will give you great results. Yes, practicing is key and I really hope that you'll get your hands on a camera that can film in S-Log3 the soonest since S-Log3 is awesome and my go-to when filming. @@BernieHipos thanks for your reply, i also subscribed! I dont have the Phantom LUTs but i will experiment with some other LUTs, do you ever used the Lemming Pro LUT or just the Phantom ones? And if you are kind, can you tell me in what gama do you work and output? Im a little confused cause i seen workflows in DaVinci and i see they use gama 2.4 for the rec709 projects but for example my TV is set at gamma 2.2 and the videos from RUclips on my TV just looks fine. I dont know what gamma its my monitor on but if i grade with gamma 2.4 and afterwards watch those videos on a TV that is set to gamma 2.2 wouldn't be the footage a little washed out? Maybe im asking some non sense but im a total noob and i had this question in mind.
@@AexoeroV, no worries at all! And thanks so much for the sub! 🙏🏽 I appreciate it! As for gamma, I don't change a thing. All I do is film in S-Log3 and use the S-Gamut3.Cine color space, and on Final Cut Pro, which is my editing software, the files are still rec709. They are the original files straight out of the camera and no transcoding was done during the import process. To color grade, I use Cinema Grade and Phantom LUTs. I've never tried the Lemming Pro LUTs, but I have used other LUTs before. My favorite though is Phantom LUTs and my go-to for S-Log3 clips. You know perfect timing since I'm working on a video talking about my S-Log3 color grading workflow. So yeah, can't wait to post it. And I hope once it's posted you'll find it useful. I just played around with the EI value, adjusting from 2500 all the way to 10000 in some of the shots that were too dark.
