- Big day today so sorry it’s late, concrete pour is in and we have had one busy busy day!!
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve

I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

Just found your channel after Olly mentioned you and I’m so glad he did. You are nuts but in a good way 😂. Loving the build and I’m sure the contractors love working with you as I’m sure they get a good laugh. It’s going to look well when it’s all finished.

Good evening was wondering where you got the thing to do the pattern on the concrete from we are in the process of installing our son as a young farmer, he wants to milk cows and jersey cows Same
As you except we have purchased a mobile parlour so it will follow cows for 9 mths of the year but rest will
Be housed so we will need to do a collection yard next to shed and thought that pattern may help the cows not slip . Thanks your followers in France

I know you will be pleased to hear this..........the amount of paperwork/record keeping will increase a lot with milk production ..........i don't know if your farm assured now or not but you have to be farm assured to sell milk and boy is there work with that
So when I come to get my mineral buckets I'll find you on your viewing gallery then surveying your dairy empire 😅

Hi Charlotte, you are an expert at rolling the pattern on the concrete now, it could be a side job if you need extra cash. I would keep the red hair until after the build so all the male workers realise you are the female supervisor not another worker. We had 2 aviation updates today, they seem to be a bit light on lately. It would be a shame if you took the rock wall down on the driveway. It's has character and history and says to me "a traditional old English farm". Can't you chop the other side bank back and remove the large trees. I know you would love to plant another hedge along there. Thanks for more big shed built content. Chris from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.

The whole wall will be taken down by the end of the month it’s too narrow in that part
@@charlotteashleyfarm Hello. Is your farm on the Pennine way. If so you could get a Grant to move the wall back away from the road. You may be able to get a Grant. I would enquire about it. It's far better to keep the wall. You may have to apply to take in down anyway.
