There is a definite move back to farming selling straight to consumers, far more environmentally friendly ...reusable containers, and farmer gets more value for product...Great to see it
That was a great watch, better than ear to the ground IMO . Your a natural at interviewing people and asking the right questions without interruption. Loved the little clip of the dog at the start. I noticed he mention ice cream and that a family member worked in that business already. Surely they could add that do there own business in the future 🤔
I'm a non farmer and would love to buy straight from the farm, i can speak for a lot of people aswell..beef & milk the farmer gets more money and the costumer is getting the real mccoy.
We are very fortunate to have a Milk Vending machine recently opened up in Doagh 2 miles from us, the milk quality is fantastic, our year old grandson was home for Christmas from Scotland he loved the milk, it makes great porridge and is lovely in coffee.
The milk and shakes are great. My daughter lives in Clane and uses a local dairy farm. When she comes to visit us in Dublin, she brings milk, milkshakes, and eggs. Its actually a lot cheaper when you re-use your own cleaned bottles. Excellant service and so clean. The grand kids would rather visit it than fas t food.
Yu may glow with working outside but I'm glowing inside watching yuz people ....aghh the simple life 👍 I know I was born and worked on our farm ... I'm city dweller now but never forget how good it was... atb from UK...👍👍👍👏👏👏
Great video. We have a local family dairy close to us here in western Pennsylvania that processes their own milk. They have a storefront, they bottle their own milk, make special flavors and make their own ice cream. It is great to see farms finding ways to cut out the middle man and market directly to the consumers.
An absolutely brilliant set up and a lovely well kept farm. I didn’t even know they existed till today and them only 40 minutes or so from me. Well done the Smith family on their incredible achievements and well done Adrian and Nicole on this super video. I’ll definitely be visiting this farm in the very near future
That is awesome! I wish we had something like that in the states, i even wish i still had a milk man, i drink or go through at least 3 gallons every2 weeks by myself! Love milk in glass bottles, it just taste better.🥰
What a progressive farmer. Maybe this is the future for Irish farming. We hear so much negativity around farming, so it’s nice to see a good news story. Thanks for a great video Adrian and Nicole.
Really impressed with that. Great to see something bit different. Credit to them. If can drive a bit more revenue then fantastic even if only makes them the same there is a greener note with re using bottles etc. great stuff.
It's like we are back in the 80s and before when you returned or refilled glass bottles to the milkman/pharmacy/juice lorry and not like now everything in plastic containers that get thrown away
Absolutely fantastic video today sir. You and your daughter make a great team. What goes around comes around. I grew up with a milkman that came Monday through Friday. A vegetable farm down the road and a meat farm within a mile. Every thing was fresh and tasted a whole lot better than what is sold in groceries today. This was before Disney ruined Florida. I'm so glad that it's coming back. The States need to look at what Ireland is doing.
that's a fine dairy setup and a powerful work ethic.overall. Great to see a new business thriving and even more so as a family operation. Obviously every dairy farmer in the country cant get into this but its innovation and secondary revenue streams like this that will protect family farms for the future.
Thanks adrian and nicole for taking us on that farm tour. You did a class job on the interview. Best wishes to the Smith family in the future. Their farm is an absolute credit to them no more than your own setup. Wishing them every success in the future.
Cracking video I would have thought there would be a lot more than 16 of these in Ireland. Great looking farm and also an amazing venture to make a few more euros to help the farm
Savage farm setup!! GREAT idea with the self service milk bottling shop!! A dairy farm near me is doing this also AND it’s fantastic tasting Plus better for us!! Great to support local too!! Farmers have a coffee machine too as well as some local produce!!!
Cracking video Adrian, really enjoyed the interview and tour round the farm, if your farm for any reason don’t work out I’m sure you can have a career in tv ❤
There's a farm near skryne co meath doing it for the last number of years.. its great. Even though I work on a dairy farm we do go and get bottles of milk some times wen we are passing .. they are an awesome job
You getting ideas 😉😁 afternoon sir.. 😊 thanks for the tour ... our friend in orkney have an impressive dairy Howe farm.. lost of tec. Hope you didnt go home with an empty trailer now cause thats just wrong 😅😊 stay safe 🏴
Another interesting video Adrian, it is great to see how other farms are developing over these hard times, farmer put a lot of thought and effort into the new enterprise, cows looked very content 🍻
Great set up. Anything that’s brings the money directly back to the farmer is a great thing in my eyes. Best of luck to the Smith family hope it goes from strength to strength!🤞🏻 The Smyth family farm in Louth (Wholey Cow) Andrew mentioned is a short run from my house. Full fat milk the best tasting about, nothing to touch it!👌🏻
Good man Adrian, wat a lovely walk through the farm, & some time lm up there l call in for few milk 🥛 shake, thanks again, Happy New year 🎉 ,kieran from Laghey donegal town
We live in Southwest Scotland. There are 2 farm who do the milk from their farm. 1 The Wee Aird Stranaer. 2 Balnab Farm Whithorn. We get milk from Balnab Farm. Enjoyed the farm tour as we are not farmers but surrounded by farms and are curious of what goes on behind shed doors.
Mr smith is a nice fella and runs a neat operation by the looks of it, fair play to him for taking the initiative to start his bottled milk business. Good video Adrian, You’ll be replacing ear to the ground on Rte in no time 😂
I actually couldn’t work out where you were from 🙈, you have the accent but I was previously told you were from down the country which true me off completely . I’d of called in to say hello if I’d of known that! But I will the next time for sure now that I do
@@IFarmWeFarm well I live in mayo my homeplace in there beside smiths my dad is an ag advisor in cavan tom canning I moved to mayo to take over his homeplace
What an interesting video this has been, and giving back the direct selling to the customer with milk, in reusable bottles with the farm advertising on them, fantastic job well done to all concerned.
Took the first minute to tune into the accent , I’m sure Irish people get more Irish when the get together 😂 Great video , it still blows my mind the amount of technology that is involved . I know there will be super farms around the world that have 1000’s of cattle and one human with a ton more still but this level of farming there is so much going on to know. Modern farmers are not given enough limelight as to what is involved . Computers , food standards , economics, before you even get started on the animal / land side of things
Enjoyed the farm tour and seeing another operation that has the milkshake machines. I watch Tom Pemberton's channel and besides the farm store they also have the milkshake machines. I'll have to see if any local farms here on my side of the pond do the same thing. There's not a lot of dairy farms in my suburban South Carolina area but you never know! When I was a kid growing up in South Central Pennsylvania back in the 70's we had dairy farms all around us. We got our milk from our local dairy, Ashcombe Farms, with the big glass gallon and half gallon containers. Had a milk box on our porch for when we had it delivered. 😊 We'd go to the farm store too and the milk parlor was right beside the store, and you could see through a big window when the cows were gettibg milked. The farms used Holsteins for dairy pretty exclusively - never saw Jerseys or other breeds much, but that was a loooong time ago now! 😄🐄❤
Really interesting to se what other farms do to make money, that can be ploughed back into the farm. Like how they are also using modern technology to save time, I watch Tom Pembertom on U-Tube and he now uses the collars, such a good idea when you have a large herd for not only seeing what the cows are producing but checking on their welfare as well. You too could have a milk machine, but think your girls will probably drink away any profits. 😂😂🤣
Sorry Adrian, i struggled a bit with this one. As a non farmer with an interest i think maybe more explanation of the gear would have been useful. Excellent in any case & i always look fwd to you next vlog.
Great video. Great to see farmers innovating and using modern technology to generate profits directly from their customers (without the middle man). How long will it be before some of these vending machines are set up in urban areas? Are there any in Hackney?
Thank you Adrian! So many great ideas at this family's dairy farm! Check out Andrew's RUclips channel 'Once a Day Farmer' for lots of hands-on knowledge about the Collars. Also Adrian, Andrew mentioned your channel in one of his videos, more than a year ago. That's how I found your channel. You have the world's best agricultural channel, Adrian. Other farming guys that have over a million subscribers aren't half as fine as you! From your fan in Minnesota.
I enjoyed that Adrian.I watch Tom Pemberton in england and he has a similar setup alongside his farm shop except his is raw milk but not sure if the milk shakes are made of raw milk.I know he has many customers who like the raw milk.
There is a definite move back to farming selling straight to consumers, far more environmentally friendly ...reusable containers, and farmer gets more value for product...Great to see it
Food security is massive. We shouldn't take it for granted. God bless the farmers of Ireland 👍
Of the UK also, the world aswell??

Loved the little clip of the dog at the start. I noticed he mention ice cream and that a family member worked in that business already. Surely they could add that do there own business in the future 🤔
Yes I think their own ice cream would be a great idea, even a little coffee shop with some local produce down the line
What a lovely guy . So is his farm so organised and clean .

Very interesting video thank you
Farm to retail is huge here in the states. Every third ad or so is an ad from a farm selling beef, pork, or chicken. Good show Adrian!

Very interesting Adrian. Tom Pemberton has similar set up in his yard. There most be money in it. What kind of time frame around payback I wonder?
It would be interesting to hear what percentage % of his daily output,is sold from their farm directly ??? 😎
WELL IT'S CUTTING THE MIDDLE MAN OUT I WISH ALL FARMERS DAIRY FARMERS WOULD DO IT ❤

Tom had to start pasteurising the milk because of the tb and I am sure he said during the tb videos they are still doing it
Can you do this with the Moynihan farm? You got many of us hooked on watching Karen’s RUclips channel.
