I tell you what might be a good idea on that, Dropping the sump and cleaning out all the sludge. I know it's a diesel and oil will always be black, but you don't know how often that engine had been serviced! Just a thought! I drive a diesel and have always bought low mileage ones, but with every service, I do on it, I always run the engine with a Liquid Moli, engine flush. (Please Note, Other brands are available). With my last car, A Ford Focus, 1.5 Tdci, I bought it at 22,000 miles and when it was time to renew, which was 3 yrs, 118,000 miles, It never once needed any top up between services.
Hi Chris & Rob, This locks on the van are what we call slam locks. So more for multi drop and courier drivers. So once door shuts the handle is disabled. So the key is required to pop the doors. It stops people from walking up and opening door if couriers arms are full and can’t lock it them selves. Just make sure you don’t leave keys in the back and shutting all doors. It’s a common occurrence for me to have to go open them. Cracking vid as always
Already into January and we’ve got and interesting van fix guys 😀 Looks like no dosh 💰 for Chris but some nice trinkets in the back fir the work shop 😊 Hopefully just a blown turbo good service and timing belt and she’ll be as sweet as a nut 👍🏻 Result 🤩
Definitely change the oil feed and return line it a known problem that they get blocked on them, van's Keep up the good work, guys, save one or three cars at a time 💪
You guys before installing the turbo, should remove and clean the dpf. Had a turbo failure in a Corsa D with the same engine. A clogged dpf can create high back pressure.
I just bought one of these last week a 17 plate double side doors eleci windows basic stereo non eleci mirrors with 120000 miles steel wheels 1 years mot for £3000 good wee runner needs a couple of bits done to it coolant leak and a stiff gear linkage
We had one in work and it had stuck piston rings causing oil to blow in to the exhaust manifold and through the turbo it was I big job but fun to do 👍👍
If you ever get diesel with a knackered turbo remember to clean intercooler out. If you start it up and engine revs out the only way to stop it is to put it in 4th with breaks on and stall it..
Guys I love the way you always put ‘us’ front & centre of the action while problem solving. First thought from Rob is always what is the camera view! Big respect to you both 👏👏👏
Interesting Challenge. Check the oil isnt diluted with diesel from a leaky injector. Some turbos have their own oil filter on the inlet, could have got blocked with debris also. no harm taking the sump off either to check the oil pickup. Best of luck guys.
Is it a 1 owner vehicle? If it is then judging by the plates it’s an alphabet lease vehicle - we get it at work where we strip so far and they decide to send it to auction!
Looks like someone attempted to change glow plugs they are tricky to get out & well known for breaking in the head.probably removed turbo to attempt the removal of the seized glow plug.good luck with this one.
The vans are not as exciting like that BMW, but you know the market to buy and sell, they are relatively cheap and easy to fix so nice profit makers for you. The body and interior on this one will apparently only need a 20 Pound clean up, it is very clean in and out. Hopefully the replacement of the turbo and some related parts will do the trick. I would be concerned with the muddled up glow plug, I expect you will find a good way to get it out and replace it too. Looks like it will be a quick turn around assuming no other issues.
Should have drilled the glow plug out then re-tap the hole. Glow plugs expand when they aren’t all working and get stuck all the time in diesels and this is the only way to get them out.
A bit of an odd one if it was just a broken turbo but it does run. On the other hand if it was used for business often people can't do without a van for too long so they go and buy another one. Great video Rob and Chris and I will wish you a Happy New Year Gents. 👍👍
I think that van has been to a garage and found out the turbo was toast and knowing some garages they contacted vauxhall and told the owner how much it would cost to put right and the owner would not pay the amount so garage had to get van sold to recover their time
They realised they had made a mistake buying Fiats pretty quickly. With the constant short hops the posties do, the DPF needed constant regeneration. Pretty much every other day. Fortunately with these, the driver can do a manual regeneration. Turning circle bigger than an ocean liner also. My local sorting office had six of the Doblos and 40 Peugeot Partners.
Easy fix for you lads. I think whoever tried to do the glow plugs though they had broken it off in the head told the customer it would need a new engine and the owner just got rid because it needed a turbo and new engine.
Rollback? I've had MoT stations record the odometer as MILES when it should have been Km. Only noticed after the event and you have to jump through hoops to get it fixed so not worth the effort.
Happy New Year Guys, just a thought, as a Corsa owner myself I would check for water egress in the drivers foot well. Easy enough just lift the access for the chassis stamp and carefully slide you fingers under the carpet. The Corsa had a problem with the brake servo seal to the bulkhead. The company used 'cheap' mastic by the look of it and it tends to crack over time allowing water to run into the cab. It's worth checking for before you reassemble the engine.
Is there any particular reason you are not doing the numbers on the BMW as you always do them. We have been told the end result but no numbers. Very unusual this from a great channel.
Happy new year Guys . & who gives up on a vehicle just because a turbo has gone ? Whenever that turbo leak happened maybe the driver new what to do and stalled the engine rather than letting it blow up
Happy New Year To you both. Great video on first principles investigation of engine failures/faults. Got some interesting stuff lined up for us too can’t wait to crack on 👍🇬🇧😎
Happy New Year Chaps. Looking forward to another great year of content and thanks for the past 4 years or so I’ve been watching now. Hopefully there’s a nice profit it that one, looking that way at the moment👍
I prefer "Kroil" to WD40 for a releasing fluid. I would run the engine up to temp. And spray with the glowplug with "Koolfreeze" hopefully this differential expansion will make it easier to remove, then tap out the thread if necessary 😊
I’ve always loved the dynamic of you two. Mutual respect with a healthy amount of laughter 👏🏻👏🏻

Just hung a secondhand door on my car , thank you for giving me the confidence to try things like this , the door cost me £30 from a breakers 😊

Am always struck by the efforts Rob & Chris go to to clearly explain things. Brilliant channel.

Loved this episode, enjoyed listening to the reasoning and thinking of you guys working. Just keep the camera rolling while you work!
You guys before installing the turbo, should remove and clean the dpf. Had a turbo failure in a Corsa D with the same engine. A clogged dpf can create high back pressure.
I love the detail you spend on all your motors. Be it a £30k bmw or a £400 van.
My mechanic said only remove glow plugs when the engine is hot. I think the wise move would be to forget that glow plug until the engine is running.
They do come out easier when hot.
I'd take the intercooler out and flush it through, it could well be full of oil and crude especially important if the turbo self destructed
A nice demonstration of analytical troubleshooting there guy's 👌👍
Oil pump is the timing chain cover it runs of the crank shaft
great video,sorry for your loss rob&claire x

May have missed it but did you check the oil drain from the turbo for blockages ?
Might be an idea to take dpf off and clean it if it has one all that oil in exhaust will kill a dpf
A woman will never understand a Man and an Engine ,Its an amazing thing

Very true. Rob & Chris are great communicators. The way they go through the thought process is interesting, and generous.
Gotta love you guys for your kindness, dedication and good nature. Looks like the owner had a go at fixing the turbo and the dog ate it!
Interesting Challenge. Check the oil isnt diluted with diesel from a leaky injector. Some turbos have their own oil filter on the inlet, could have got blocked with debris also. no harm taking the sump off either to check the oil pickup. Best of luck guys.
It is a badge engineered Fiat Doblo.
I see lots of retailers saying the van market is dropping like a brick. Btw, VHl Combo also comes in a 1.5L diesel as well as 2 x 1.3l’s.
Happy new year guys
Learning all the time now I know what a banjo bolt is.
Guy's . When you have 4.6 k viewers who give you the thumbs up you know you've made it to the top ! Congratulations

Funny, I bought a ticket for the same reason and it is not something I normally do, even if it was MA. Good luck to Ian and his wife.
Good video as always chaps, so sorry to hear about your dog rob, chin up 👍🏻
Happy new year to both of you and all your other subscribers. We are like an extended family
Great content guys love your enthusiasm and energy for every single vehicle great work guys
Chris has done well with his copart bids. Well done guys.
Please check the dpf! It will be blocked and back pressure will be the cause. Great buy tho 👌
Should have drilled the glow plug out then re-tap the hole. Glow plugs expand when they aren’t all working and get stuck all the time in diesels and this is the only way to get them out.
Chris is so knowledgeable . Great video.
Great video, as always, Rob and Chris , my condolences Rob and Claire on the sad loss of your family pet, i feel for you.

My local Post Office sorting office bought about twenty five Doblo versions of this van back in 2012. I saw them delivered. They still look like new.
That’s weird most of the vans near me are beaten to bits
Plenty of hydro locked vehicles coming your way guys!!
Easy fix for you lads. I think whoever tried to do the glow plugs though they had broken it off in the head told the customer it would need a new engine and the owner just got rid because it needed a turbo and new engine.
Happy new year guys.
Hi guy’s nice to see you both back rob I am sorry to hear about your dog pal
I know it didn't swing over much while testing but would around 300psi be the minimum spec for a diesel engine?
I think that DeWalt multitool is missing a part, maybe Chris can fix that too 😅
Chris is wizard, and you also know your stuff Rob, look forward to the next one
Put camera down into cylinders to check for oil, just in case.
Rollback? I've had MoT stations record the odometer as MILES when it should have been Km. Only noticed after the event and you have to jump through hoops to get it fixed so not worth the effort.
I wonder what’s on that dash cam SD card - maybe some clues as to what happened to that van.

Earlier model bud
Glad you got something that proves you human, love it easy fix .👍👍👍
Loved it boys. Will the intercooler be full of oil?
Hello Rob and Chris, Happy New Year, sorry to hear about Charlie. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Maybe garage said it was knackered charged them for a turbo which they returned whilst customer put in co part
Who did you sell the classic Range Rover project to?
Hello Rob and Chris,it's a runner minus the turbo, fingers crossed a few things and a turbo it will be sorted, brilliant video guys.

Is there any particular reason you are not doing the numbers on the BMW as you always do them. We have been told the end result but no numbers. Very unusual this from a great channel.
Hopefully a quick fix guy's, You both have a good eye for a bargain, brilliant watching you both.👍
Hi rob and Chris good luck with the wee van, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
U getting through these vans lately .Great video.
Happy new year Guys . & who gives up on a vehicle just because a turbo has gone ? Whenever that turbo leak happened maybe the driver new what to do and stalled the engine rather than letting it blow up

Happy new year lads looking forward to seeing the next one one the combo van 👍
Interested if you can get the dtuck glow plug out. I can understand the M4 winner saying it's not the car for him, I would be the same.
Nice boots lads. About time Rob.
It's a wait and see, hopefully just the turbo required. I look forward to following
on the next video, thanks, guys
Gorgeous van. I have the older one 09 plate 1.7 CDTI Isuzu engine. Happy New Year lads.

Not the weather to work on the truck. Nice handy van was that a£1 you threw at opposite door Rob when you asked Chris" Found any change yet"😅
Rob threw the black tape from the reg plate.
also I think the oil pump is part of the chain cover
Happy New Year to you both 🎉

I'm curious when you buy a vehicle from the auction, don't they run a vehicle check?
Happy new year guys..brilliant channel as always👍🇬🇧
Sorry about your loss Rob.
Best salvage channel on the planet.
Without question. They make a great team.
So true.
They must sell these around the world its a dodge here in the states, should make you lads a few quid👍
I prefer "Kroil" to WD40 for a releasing fluid. I would run the engine up to temp. And spray with the glowplug with "Koolfreeze" hopefully this differential expansion will make it easier to remove, then tap out the thread if necessary 😊
happy new year lads, try to get decent monney for the pentioners
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS !!
Another fantastic year looms.

Fantastic video as always guys.
