    Finally a video that answered all my questions about hiring and pay! Even though this is from 1 year ago I’m opening a nail salon after several years of not working on the nail tech area. Thank you so much

    Thanks for sharing this opportunity with the nail salon business owners. That is exactly what the nail tech wants to be treated equally crucial to the beauty industry.

    I'm opening a nail shop with my vietnamese wife. But It's been a long and hard journey. All vietnamese contractors are so busy, so I end up wasting more time in finding plumbers, electrician, and ventilation guys. There aren't many contractors who know what is exactly required for nail shops
    . How much an average gross a nail shop do with 2 to 3 people working there?

    Consult with your State Board of Cosmetology regarding questions on whether a license is required to perform any portion of a service in a salon. Every State has different requirements and you definitely don't want to get in a situation where you have unlicensed individuals working in your salon and the State doesn't permit it. Also, commission pay does not always equate to 1099 pay so consult with an employment attorney or CPA to discuss. It may seem like a headache, but if you incorrectly classify your employees as contractors when they are not, you run the risk of a lawsuit and the fines alone could put you out of business so be sure to do your due diligence on this topic!

    I’d love to know what state you live in and the price you charge for services. If you are doing pedicures for $50 I don’t see how a salon can survive giving 60% to the pedicurist, but in return I don’t see how the pedicurist could make a living if they didn’t get the 60%. Curious about this part. Thanks

    Hello
    I have a question I notice that a lot of of nail techs want commission so you saying to do 40/60 owner gets 40 percent and the nail tech get 60 percent from each client plus the tech kept the tip ?
    How can I keep tabs on the customers coming in to the nail tech due to not having someone to keep count of walk-in
    Thank you for the videos 😊

      You can't, so best believe ur workers will pocket sum money, which to me is fair game because you don't pay benefits yet treat your contractors like employees with no real legal standing. Magically the Department of Labor doesn't give a damn about all the endless labor law violations in the nail, hair salon and barber shop industry...

    I’m in Michigan I’m going for my boards test tomorrow I worked for almost 8 years doing nails. I graduated from Michigan College of beauty in 1995. I thought I would never go back to doing nails but I’m very excited to. I became a stay at home mom but now I’m ready to work part time again. Are you from Michigan? If you could let me know where your salon is I might want to come work for you or come visit.Thank you for the videos they are very good and helpful!!💅

    • @maryjkhan
      @maryjkhan  3 года назад +1

      So I did school but I know that you can get it through apprenticeship. I do feel that apprenticeship might give you more hands on experience compared to school. You do want to check on the price difference and make sure that you read any document you sign for apprenticeship.

    What is commission..is it the same as booth rent?

    • @maryjkhan
      @maryjkhan  2 года назад +2

      Commission is a percentage a nail tech makes on each service. Booth rental is a different. That's what the tech pays to rent a booth.
