I loved the nurses baskets. You had some great ideas that I hadn’t thought of! Baby 2 is due at the beginning of November and I was trying to think of some ideas for a nurse basket to take with me also! My number one recommendation during labor and delivery (and post birth) is don’t be afraid to speak your mind and don’t let any of the staff tell you that you have to do something that you’re not comfortable with. It seems very obvious and common sense, but in the moment, it’s easy to to just say yes to everything because it’s your first time or you think they know best, but they don’t know you or your husband and you should speak up when it’s something you’re not comfortable with.

Wow I’ve never been this early! You’re so selfless for thinking about OTHERS when YOU are giving birth!!! I look up to you girl and I’m so happy you’re doing well! I’ve been praying for those babies everyday!!
I'm so excited for you guys. My twins will be 12 this summer. I was lucky enough to make it to 37wks after months of bedrest(the first time I went into labor was 22wks). Baby A was my daughter Bentley 5lbs 10oz and Baby B my son Bryan aka Lewis was 6lbs 7oz. I was able to have them naturally without any drugs. Lewis had to spend 30hrs in the NICU, but we all got to go home day 3. The best advice I ever got was to keep them on the same schedule. If one wakes up wake the other, if one needs changed change them both, if one eats feed the other etc. I have 5 children and the twins were numbers 3 and 4. Honestly they were the easiest and I'd do twins over and over again before a singleton. Lol BEST WISHES!!!!

I'd include some information on there on your preferences for the newborn procedures. The ones they do right after birth are vitamin k, erythromycin eye ointment and the hepatitis b shot. In my experience around here, they usually wait an hour at least for you to snuggle your babies before doing the shots (provided they are stable and don't need extra support).
Then, there are other pain management offerings for you to try, if you want to prolong the epidural for whatever reason. Nitrous oxide (only offered at some hospitals) and IV narcotics.

The nurse baskets are amazing!! That is so kind. You are such a kind, amazing person and those lil ferns are so lucky to have you and alec. You are doing an amazing job growing those lil babes! God is looking out for you!
So excited for your birth, and so soon! I’m a NICU nurse who’s read through many birth plans, and I think yours is great. Very go with the flow and not at all too wordy.
Our hospital has plastic drapes they can use during CSections upon request, and many people don’t know about them. It’s essentially a clear drape closest to you, with a sterile blue drape in front of it. This way when they’re just getting started everything is covered but right before baby comes out they bring down the blue drape so that you can see them come out almost immediately through the clear plastic drape. Just a suggestion that maybe you could ask if that was a possibility!

I’ve been researching/making my birth plan for my twins coming in a few months. It’s overwhelming as heck. Some things that were suggested that we’re considering putting on there:
-Skin to skin ASAP if possible
-Husband to be there for ALL newborn procedures while I’m still getting stitched up.
-Also idk if you care or if your hospital is a teaching hospital... But if you only want the necessary people in there or you don’t mind if there’s medical students/extra nurses/whoever else.

Totally agree about teaching hospital!!! Where I delivered was, and I was up for having students learn by watching :). They def got to see some unusual learning stuff off me 😂 and my doc was great about showing them what she was doing and why. Not everyone is comfortable with so many people though, so be sure to communicate if you're not and that's completely fine!! :)
I'm 33 weeks and wasn't sure what to put on my birth plan or birth preferences list. This video really helped me and I'm going to look back on it and even some of the comments from other followers to help me make my list! Thank you!

Good birth plan and also agree with having them in room with you vs regular nursery which tends to look like a whole lot of swaddled babies in bassinets. Your eyes will be on them more closely
I never had a birth plan but it sounds like a good idea. Not caring about the lighting and music is funny. ❤️ good luck with everything!
Girl, let them take those babies for you to sleep a little! I didn't have twins, but I was thinking the same as you like.. no give me my baby. But I wasnt able to sleep AT ALL the entire time I was in the hospital. And then for the next 3 months I also didn't sleep. Take that little bit of help if you can! I can't speak for twins, I just know how difficult one baby was for me. I have been following you for months and months! So happy your littles are growing! Sounds like you have a good team set in place. My two cents (definitely don't have to take it lol) sleep for mama is so important! Nurses will likely bring a baby in when they need to eat anyway so you'll get a solid 45 min if that. Just don't be afraid to let them take them for a little bit. It really is helpful
We don’t have nurseries in the UK. Baby never ever leaves mum unless they need the NICU. Go with the flow def. I’ve had 6 births and all have been different and you just have to relax and go with it.
You are well prepared. Since this is our 4th pregnancy. Snacks bars are always the best. If it gets really busy for them they wouldn't have time to take a breaks lunch and so on. But power snack bars are quick way to give them that boost. You definitely don't want a nurse who's over tired and hungry on top of it. Believe me I been there not fun. I can't wait to see your twins.
If you get admitted before the birth and have time ask to speak to a lactation consultant even BEFORE the birth! The faster you get baby on breast or start pumping the more milk you will have in the long run. The first hour is critical. If it's c-section let them know you want them to bringvyou a pump ASAP. Maybe you should already find a lactation consultant in the area so that you have who to call when you get home from the hospital if you need it.
Also pumping before they are born can trigger labor , so if she is hoping for natural it could help with that as well!
@@skylermay2855 yes. I will recommend to moms they can hand expression colostrum during the end of pregnancy and store it to have a stash of colostrum to bring to the hospital i would not recommend before 37 weeks in a high risk pregnancy.

Not sure if every hospital is different but I heard general rule of thumb is hospital staff are not allowed to accept gifts?
Definitely a case by case basis. Some hospitals do allow staff to receive gifts ❤️
They can accept small gifts like that

I would highly suggest rewriting your birth plan. Taking out the wordy parts and making it all just bullet points of what you want for vaginal and c section I’d make it double sided one side vaginal one side c section. Mine was literally
-name
-dob
-emergency contact
-#of live births and pregnancy
-complications in previous pregnancy
-wants for labor all single bullets
-wants for delivery
- wants for baby
For ex it was like
-no offering pain meds
- natural tearing
-free movement
- NO coaches pushing
- announce sex myslef (we were team green)
-cut cord myself (my husband’s active duty wasn’t there )
Etc. my doula said that’s the best way to do it and the nurses complimented it’s easy readability.
Hi, NICU nurse who’s read boat loads of birth plans here. Hers is short and sweet, trust me. I’ve had 6-8 page documents notarized before! I don’t think this one will be too much of a problem.
