This quick video just saved me from so much headache! seeing that windows 10 will reach its end of life in a year, I was anxious to fix the secure boot pre-requisite that my system did not meet. After following multiple videos and reading through a whole forum thread, a quick search that brought up this video saved my day! keep up the great work.
I really wish I could put more than one like under this video. It was so hard to me to find a correct instructions for my system, due to some particular properties which are different for my system. I really appreciate that you cover all of possible cases in cmd, thank you so much bro, bless you !!!
Last solution around 3:28 finally helped me after hours, haven't seen many videos that hit the nail on the head like this. Thank you so much bro, trying to convert after my windows had corrupted and need reinstalling was getting confusing.
This is great. I found the error info logged in the setupact file (3:00 mark). In my case, one of the partitions was too close to end of drive. I created free space at the end of the drive and then conversion worked perfectly.
Você foi a única pessoa que falou que o disco (MBR para GPT) NÃO pode ter mais de 3 partições ... o meu tinha 4 por isto dava o falho de validação . Agora 100 % ok para instalar W11. Muito Obrigado amigo ! .
If they'd pointed to the log file in cmd, I'd have known my first partition was too close to the beginning of the disk an hour ago. Thank you for pointing that part out (where the log file is.)
Hi man, thanks so much for this. It was nice and easy to follow 😁👍 I see that you're still replying to comments so I just have a quick question to ask. After everything is done and the drive is now GPT, do I still need the the new volume (V:) that was made. if I dont need it then can i just delete it?
My disk have 4 partitions both are recoveries types, one 557mb and other 776mb (offset 464gb and 465gb) and the primary is for the system (2438mb, offset 1024kb) what should i do?
You have to remove the partition that you are using as storage. Don't remove system, recovery or windows partitions. Watch this video: ruclips.net/video/tYUBiWO0P9o/видео.html
great video, thanks a bunch - just wondering, now I've created that V partition, do I have to keep it? Or can I get rid of it without it affecting anything?
Mine says "check that you are running in a process with elevated privileges" and when i check task manager it says that cmd is not elevated, what's the solution?
Thank you so much, i saw some people ask if we can now delete the V drive but you say we cant because the BCD file is in there. would it be possible to just move the BCD drive somewhere else? Also my system created an F: drive called "System Reserved", what do i do with this?
If you want to delete the V drive and create new one, then there is no problem in that. In old windows editions with MBR systems, the BCD can be stored inside windows partition. But why you are want to delete it? *System Reserved partition* in EFI systems (with size about 16 mb) should not be deleted, because it contains important info related to the disk and system.
When I tried to change MBR to GPT my computer says "bad_module_info has stopped working." I just built this new computer. New RAM, Ryzen CPU, and new ASUS motherboard. I am using my previous computer's SSD, which has Windows 10 When I put the MBR2GPT /Convert /Allowfullos command at the prompt I get validating layout, disk sector size is: 512. Disk layout validation failed for disk 0 I have two partitions on the drive, both are named "primary." Can you advise this old man? Please.
Thank you for ending my suffering. I was so defeated that I became genuinely shocked and elated to find success here. As far as I have seen in forums and videos nobody has demonstrated that extra v drive and doing the /Fuck ALL command. Is there anyway to get rid of or consolidate that 500 MB partition though?
What do I do if I cloned my windows 7 onto a gpt drive I split into two separate partitions to dual boot? It show disk 2 as gpt even though the cloned partition is still mbr
Hello! Thank you for the detail fixes, however, instead of the error that you get on 3:15, I get an error saying: ValidateLayout: Unrecognized partition found, index What could I do next to fix this issue?
Maybe you have a partition that was created on Linux OS or using another tool that is not supported in windows OS. So, you may need to use a third party tool to remove that partition after copying your files to another partition or to external storage.
I have 4 partitions named EFI System Partition, Recovery Partition, Basic Data Partition and the Windows C Drive. As you mentioned, mbr2gpt has to have at max 3 partitions, but I have 4 and none of them are user partitions. What to do now ? Which one to delete ?
You have to move your important files from the *Basic Data Partition* to the C or to external storage, after that, delete it (i.e. *Basic Data Partition* ). But the EFI partition is strange, since this partition name is assigned only in GPT systems!
@@ValiumMediaTech Somehow when I re-ran mbr2gpt command again, it went well and the only error I got was winre failed to do something and asked me to manually disable and enable it, which I did. Rebooted and saw that my storage is now GUID. Also opened BIOS and it seemed to have detected the changes and enabled secure boot by itself. All went well. Now waiting for W11 update
Thanks for the video, but everything I try fails. Initially when I ran mbr2gpt it said not enough space(only the drive is being used), Disk 0(C drive) has 5.27 GB unallocated at the end. It validates okay but fails. So I created a simple vol V: but it failed activation, I transferred the boot files to it but then it failed validation . I going in circles here, any other suggestions. Can I create the required space by deleting files from the drive?
@@ValiumMediaTech Hi, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the other vid but don't really see anything new that I haven't tried from this video. The drive validates okay(3 partitions with 5.27gb unallocated at the end) but still says can't create space. I tried shrinking the OS partition by 500 like you did but it doesn't do anything I can see. When I change the unallocated to drive V I can't activate it. Then it shows it can't validate. When I put it back to the way it was, it will validate okay again but still fails for convert. Any other suggestions to try? thanks for your time.

what happen if partition 4 become (Unallocated) instead (Free Space)?
please answer aaaaaaa. my partition D already gone
bruh you dont even said things that should do when someone had their pc (Unallocated) instead (Free space)....
on their partition d. now i lose em all. fk
Sorry for the late reply, but (Unallocated) indicated that the mentioned disk part is not formatted and doesn't contain any data inside it. So you have to format it before you can use it.
I followed your steps. Now validate successfully.
Then try to convert but showing error Cannot find room for the EFI system partition. Please give solution.
Make sure you have enough free disk space on the C partition.
@@ValiumMediaTech yes C drive partition 150 gb and free space 76 gb
@@ggchannel8967 Try to expand the C partition to include all unallocated disk space.
@@ValiumMediaTech thank you very much , this step helpful and can convert successfully 🙏.
I tried last one year finally you help me to convert.
Thank you.

If this error appears when executing MBR2GPT, make sure to include /AllowFullOS in the command to fix that.

@@chiku6581 So boot into Windows Pre Installation and convert your disk from there.
Watch this video to see how to boot into WinRE:

@@msdmsd6510 You too, try to boot into WinRE and convert the disk from there.
I dont have new volume when I go to delete partition 4
If you mean there is no " *New Volume* " label on your computer, that is normal.
If you mean something else, please explain your question, or upload an image to this website paste.pics and then post its link here.

yes but when i reset my pc and try to go into windows i get an error
May be Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is disabled or corrupted in your computer, so you have to create a bootable USB in your mobile and then boot from that USB.

Thank you m8! You are the best
Thank you too!
This is brilliant but still doesn't work for me.
I was able to create boot files but still can't validate or convert the disk.
There is windows on c drive and a small partition 50mb on D drive with system
I have 5 disks connected but have been able to select the right disk using your method
I have sporadically tried to fix this for years now. I think the only way is to disconnect all other drives and wipe c drive and start again fresh
If anyone can help me avoid this it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
thannk you so much !!

Make sure all partitions has an assigned letters, especially the one n which the windows is installed.
What if disk have 5 partitions
delete 2 partitions.
