Hey dude, I built your overkill fusion reactor setup on a local creative testing world in a desert on 1.10.2. I have tested your setup on an injection rate of 98 (which seems to be the maximum) and I think I got the results. I noticed that you can generate over 9 MRf/t for a good while, but then the deuterium bar in the reactor says it's empty. No problems with the tritium though. Weirdly enough, the fusion reaction did not stop at all. I've waited for about 6 or so minecraft days and now the reactor seems to have stabilized at 7.95 MRf/t. And I know the mekanism storage is better, but I don't yet know how that fully works and i'll be sure to watch your video about that. So yeah, that's why I went with the vibrant capacitors. Also, the cable work I mentioned was just switching from mekanism's creative energy block to the enderio vibrant capacitors which got charged by the reactor. I spotted some ender energy conduits (I thought I was placing down ultimate universal cables while switching, but I found out I wasn't, after which I facepalmed), which is likely the reason why the machinery went out for a little while, because those cables can only hold like 20k RF/t which is obviously far too low for that many machines. Once I replaced them with ultimate universal cables and output on the cable from the capacitors was at normal configuration istead of pull configuration, everything worked fine. Keep up the good vids by the way! :)
Note, to prevent your laser amplifier from being overly drained during ignition if you're using a stone button setting a 15 tick delay with a 800 mRf discharge will work well.

oblyx I LOVE your videos! You have really helped me out a ton with Mekanism in my MCEternal world! I have a couple questions about the Thermal Evaporation Plants. 1) In the video, you mention they are "fully upgraded". What does that mean exactly? I'm worried I may be missing some upgrade options on mine. 2) What value did you set your Resistive Heaters to? I currently set mine to 200RF/t, but I'm not sure if that's overkill, not enough, just right? I know it probably depends, but my setup is in a desert like yours. 3) If I wanted to heat the Thermal Evaporation Plants with heat from the reactor, do I simply add another Reactor Port to the reactor and run a Thermodynamic Conductor line out to the Thermal Evaporation Valves? If yes, do the Thermodynamic Conductor lines lose heat over longer distances, i.e. If the reactor is 300 blocks away, will it still work? Thanks!
Glad they've helped. Fully upgraded means full height with advanced solar panels. You don't really need resistive heaters once you have the reactor, just use its heat. Yup, just use the heat pipes directly.
Is there a way to measure the exact statistics behind every part of this setup? This includes any or all of the following: -Fuel production/output rates in mB/t with full upgrades* -Optimal max-height thermal evaporator heat input -Fusion reactor heat generation per tick at any level of input rate (including maximum D-T fuel injection of...1k mB/t?) -Optimal max-size boiler heat input for maximum steam production -Entangloporter transfer rate limits, if applicable.
Hey! Awesome and helpful video but I still have some questions: 1. Are there any dangers from having your heat that high? Cuz you would think so but in your video it doesn't seem like that is the case And 2. Why would you need that much power? like how many machines wouldn't you need :P
1) nope, no danger 2) a base full of 5x ore duplication and digital miner are power hungry. Check out my Mekanism power storage video to see the induction matrix which is an awesome and massive power storage system in Mekanism. You'll want that reactor to fill that baby up.
You said in this video that you would make another video on hooking this up to an industrial turbine setup, any plans to do that? From reading up on all available resources, feed the beast wiki has a great breakdown of the potential power output and efficiency of various sizes of Industrial turbines, but for greatest steam production and power output this also requires piping heat from the Reactor to a Thermoelectric boiler that is matched both to the Reactor's injection rate and the resulting steam output that will drive the Industrial Turbine... and I cannot find any resources at all on how to match the Thermoelectric Boiler size to the Industrial Turbine size. If you tackled that setup it would be awesome!
Very clear tutorial, i just have a few questions. Do you have a video on water cooled reactors? Do they make more power? And what exactly does heat do? Can they blow up? sry -_- Edit: Do you have a video on Mekanism turbines?
For water-cooled reactors, just pump in water through a port, and steam out through another. Even with a medium turbine (5*5*7 iirc) you will produce multiple times the power of the reactor itself. At that point you'll have to switch to a Quantum entangloporter or other unlimited energy transfer devices because except for stellar alloy wires from enderIO I know no direct energy transfer methods to transport this much energy. Reactors don't go boom, but with an output port and heat pipes you can use the reactor heat to fuel your evaporation plants
Thanks for the helpfull video, but I still have a question: You went over the maximum on the heat, is it going to burn wood around the reactor or something like that?
oblyx: This laser is an absolute overkill, you DO NOT need to make a one this big me: ok i remade it. edit: the one i made is about half the size of the laser in the video
I haven’t even started my survival and this is one of the first things I’m going for after the bio-generator thing. As you can tell I aim too high too quick. Also the lasers can make a sick defense around your base! Edit: What is there in the game that you will need this power for? All I know is the digital miner but again I haven’t even started yet
@@oblyx Self sufficient, no hassle, massive power gen once setup though. Since watching this video this is what I aim to make for power gen as it's insane!
Great video, thank you! I appreciate and understand the desire for overkill on all the things :) I did want to point out that according to the documentation on the wiki, it takes between 600 and 800M RF to ignite the reactor. Not 2B. Did you ever leave the reactor running at full capacity and start to remove some of the fuel creation to determine how much you needed to maintain? I'd be curious what that looked like. I'm also curious if there are any long-term effects of running at such a higher temp. There isn't a meltdown mechanic built in yet, it seems. Curious if the pack owner will implement one in v10.
+Adam Rasmussen I've built many of these over the years on several different servers. It's no problem running hot. As far as fuel there are several sever side variables that control it that pack devs tend to tweak. So one pack a smaller setup may work over another pack. Especially HQM's that affect temp. But i haven't met a pack yet that that setup wouldn't work for. However I'm sure there are some. Aiden the primary dev for Mek hasn't announced such a change that I've seen. But if he does we adapt. To me the change is what makes modded fun.
So I've ran into a problem with my reactor just randomly shutting off. I have the same set up as you pretty much. No idea what the problem is because there is plenty fuel. I have the EXACT same set up as you besides the solar panels but i'm heating the thermal evaporation towers with restive heaters and their at max temp. The only thing I don't have is the power storage setup you have. All the power is just kinda of recharging my laser set up for jump starting the reactor. EDIT: Also, i'm in minecraft 1.12.3 and all I'm playing "All the mods 3" Modpack.
do you notice it happening at night more so than day? one of the machines is only solar powered. you have to make sure it processes enough material during the day and stores up enough to get all the way through the night.
No, I think I've diagnosed the problem. It seems to stop working when I leave the chunk. So what i've done is placed machines around it with anchor upgrades. I've only been able to test it for a little bit so I'll have to do further testing. Also, it could have been how I setup the tritium storage. Another thing it could have been was the injection rate. I read on some forum post that I needed to have one thermal evaporation tower of brine for every injection rate. The only issue I have with that is your video doesn't have a problem with injection rate. I've concluded that person must of had a different setup than yours. Today, I'm going to try and see if I can run the fusion reactor at max settings and see if it fails.
@@Tunnellord chunk loading would do it. You don't need that much brine but it does need to keep up. Heat plays a huge too in brine creation. That's why I chose desert. The other factor is keeping them supplied with enough water. Mekanism pumps are a bit slow. Just watch the console on the evaporators to know what they need. It will change as the day cycles.
Mekanism is one of the more interesting and useful tech mods, but there's crapton of stuff to do and learn. This fusion especially seems like one of the most compicated and work intensive generators out there. Even the draconic evolution (I think it was called that) fusions/super genrator was not this bad. It needed tons of stuff, but it was fairly simple in the end. I think when this is done with AE2 and extra cells that allows you to store gasses in AE system it could be pretty feasible to do, you can store all your gasses and monitor usage.
It's resource heavy for sure. I love building the Mek toys. They are so industrial with pipes everywhere. You feel accomplished when it's done and it looks outstanding in a factory build.
Wait, so what's the moral of the story? What if the heat is maxing out? Isn't it going to ever blow up or shut down? With your setup, why keep it at 4 Injection rate vs. 98 if you can sustain fuel?
That's an insane amount of power - rofl - and one hell of a stress test, I was expecting a boom, or meltdown of some description, or at least proximity to the reactor causing injury (even in creative - lol). I imagine a future version will introduce some such 'consequences' for pushing things too far. Quick question - does water cooling make much difference to performance?
Really good video, i just have uma question, what is the purpose of cooling the Reactor, and why should i build a steam generator when the Reactor alone generate´s alot of power
@@oblyx Oh I see, i was thinking the same because i did the setup just like your´s (good job by the way) and it works perfectly, now i got kindda "infinite energy", I just dont know what to do with that much power, any ideias ?? xD (Thank you for answering by the way)
hey oblyx im a big fan and i ve been using ur tutorial for all my big modpacks that i ve played in the past. i have one problem with the fusion reactor. i cant produce enought tritium to keep the reactor running all day, built the build extactly like u is there a way i can improve the tritium production?
are your machines and pipes fully upgraded? also are you pumping the reactor heat back into the thermal evaporators? those are generally the bottleneck.
I got this exact build in my survival world done. but I think water to the bring towers is holding me back, do you know the output of the infinite water source because if i turn it up to around 10 fuel rate i run out of brine it seems
if you are using the Mekanism pumps, you need a lot of them fully upgraded. i built this in survival on my Project Ozone Lite series. I think I ended up with 6-8 pumps fully upgraded to keep it going. I think the build was in 4 parts, starting here: ruclips.net/video/yo9mxNvIFBY/видео.html
ok no idea why he has 6 thermal evaporation plants unless something changed. I run 2, one for brine and 1 for lithium, then 3 condensentrators feeding 3 solar neutron activators for the tritium, and 6 electrolytic separators for the deuterium and I can run this at full 98 injection rate 24/7 feeding a turbine producing 25MJ/t of power. I have yet to even scratch the power output. 99% of the time my turbine shuts down because my induction matrix is full lol. good thing this one can't explode (already blew up a fission reactor making the polonium to build this one lol) mekasuit rocks :)
Will the Reactor Fail it overheats? Or does it only fail if it is not being supplied enough DT fuel? If I increase the tick rate by a lot do I just have to worry about DT fuel supply or do I have to worry about it overheating too?
wonderful video, but i have a question about deuterium i have this setup in a survival world, but if i turn the injection rate on my reactor to 98, the deuterium begins to drain. I have the same set up as you, 8 fully upgraded pumps connected to a fully upgraded electrolytic separator. i think it might be that the pumps are not collecting heavy water fast enough for the electrolytic separator. any idea on what's going on? im on 1.12.2 on the Yao Pack
@@oblyx thank you for the reply, but i seem to have figured out the issue. Once I place IC2 chunk loaders near my setup, it began working flawlessly. i have also doubled up my pumps for good measure. thank you
I just got this built in 1.15.2 and it started up great, but I cannot get it to OUTPUT any power, despite showing that it is producing power and the internal power buffer is completely full. The reactor ports I am connecting to are placed properly in the middle, the universal cables mate up, but will not turn green (draw power) regardless of whether I use the configurator on the cable to pull from the port or push to an empty ultimate energy cube or just leave it default/unconfigurated. Very frustrating to have put all that time in, fire it up and get it working, and then not be able to pull the power! Any help?
Have you tried using quantum entangloporters or Flux Networks? There used to be a bug (I had it happen to me in 1.12.2 more than 6 months ago, so I don't know if it still happens) where the energy cables just would stop working spontaneously, or would not work at all. What worked for me was using Flux Networks to remove the energy. Also, I believe you can configure the output port in the reactor itself (like, using the configurator on the multiblock structure), so maybe try it out too.
@@LordMatthew2204 Yep had to switch the Reactor Ports from the default input (blue) to output (red) with the configurator... which was not intuitive I must say, as you have to right click on the actual inner circle of the port and not just the block, which is blocked by the universal cable... what the hell?
hello, i somehow cant produce any tritium, the Brine just wont transport from the thermal evaporation towers into the pipes :/ and the heavy water just wont come out of the ultimate liquid tank :/
Make sure to use the configurator to set the direction of flow. I did a video on how to do it if you need help. ruclips.net/video/phicOmxaQxk/видео.html
I followed this tutorial to the t. My reactor has started, it has the seperate fuel injected, but it's not consuming the fuel no matter my injection rates. How do I fix this issue? Mind you I'm playing on 1.7.10.
@@oblyx I've tried putting in d-t but before that I have tritium and doeterium sepreatly on two ports but I put it in and I start it up to full plasma but it keeps dropping even with the input being raised
You've got to feed it fuel both tritium and deuterium. Then you need a hohlraum with D-T fuel in it. Put the hohlraum into the reactor. Then you need to hit the reactor with a laser with at least 800 million RF. If you need more help I build one from scratch in my Project Ozone Lite survival series. It starts here and I build it over 4 episodes. We fire it up in the 4th. ruclips.net/video/yo9mxNvIFBY/видео.html
@@oblyx Yeah I resolved the problem with the fuel and water, used a few quantium entangloporter for moving the D-T fuel from the overworld to the end, only thing I fear is logging out in another dimension and the reactor shuting down, even tho the I did use as many chunk anchors as I could
If you can't see the spinny bits in the middle but it's producing power then that would be a visual glitch most likely. Could be a version mismatch from things or something like optifine fiddling with what you see versus what's "real".
I've done it, and if I remember right I died. I think the only one that survived and only barely was the infinity armour. I don't remember, but I may have done it in the Project Ozone Lite series.

@@oblyx I hooked it all up and it’s working well. Thanks a lot!
Is there a way to measure the exact statistics behind every part of this setup? This includes any or all of the following:
-Fuel production/output rates in mB/t with full upgrades*
-Optimal max-height thermal evaporator heat input
-Fusion reactor heat generation per tick at any level of input rate (including maximum D-T fuel injection of...1k mB/t?)
-Optimal max-size boiler heat input for maximum steam production
-Entangloporter transfer rate limits, if applicable.
Mostly, use one of the computer mods.
Talk with Peak of War in my discord, he's an expert at computerized mekanism.
jesus turned water into wine but oblyx turns water into brine
Haha pretty much
Hey!
Awesome and helpful video but I still have some questions:
1. Are there any dangers from having your heat that high? Cuz you would think so but in your video it doesn't seem like that is the case
And 2. Why would you need that much power? like how many machines wouldn't you need :P
1) nope, no danger
2) a base full of 5x ore duplication and digital miner are power hungry.
It's on the very long list of things to do.
So it doesn’t matter how hot it gets as long as you don’t run out of fuel?
Very clear tutorial, i just have a few questions. Do you have a video on water cooled reactors? Do they make more power? And what exactly does heat do? Can they blow up? sry -_-
Edit: Do you have a video on Mekanism turbines?
Thank you. I haven't done a turbine video yet. The heat can be used to hear the resources needed to fuel the reactor. No go boom. They are safe.
@@oblyx tysm, sry about the endless questions
@@jzotov ain't no thang. Happy to help if I can.
Thanks for the helpfull video, but I still have a question: You went over the maximum on the heat, is it going to burn wood around the reactor or something like that?
nope. heat is just a tool that can be used for heating up things like the thermal evaporation tanks.
oblyx: This laser is an absolute overkill, you DO NOT need to make a one this big
me: ok i remade it.
edit: the one i made is about half the size of the laser in the video
sometimes you just need a little overkill in your life. :-)
It is fun to build. But darn resource heavy.
It will change as the day cycles.
so can the casing get as hot as you want, or is there a max heat?? and will it break once it hits a max heat? Thanks
Unless they've made a change I'm n not aware of it can get as hot as you want. There heat is used to power the turbine if you want to go that way.
It's more for the steam turbine
@@oblyx Ahhh... Gotcha. Thanks :-)
Nice vid
I didn't find a huge difference between cold and hot biomes for the evaporator... I don't think it matter that much.
I take these videos and make it a closed system in this case I use the heat to heat my thermal evaporaters
Exactly
so does this reactor actually blow up like the fission reactor or does it just rise to a ungodly temperature
No 💥 sadly. You can use the temperature for other things though.
Really good video, i just have uma question, what is the purpose of cooling the Reactor, and why should i build a steam generator when the Reactor alone generate´s alot of power
No purpose. You use the heat generated for other things.
It won't overheat. Just worry about fuel consumption. You can use the heat it generates to increase fuel production.
deuterium and tritium are gasses? Because if they're liquids than I think using thermal laminar pipes would be more efficient (if they are compatible)
Thermal pipes are for carrying heat.
wonderful video, but i have a question about deuterium
i have this setup in a survival world, but if i turn the injection rate on my reactor to 98, the deuterium begins to drain. I have the same set up as you, 8 fully upgraded pumps connected to a fully upgraded electrolytic separator. i think it might be that the pumps are not collecting heavy water fast enough for the electrolytic separator. any idea on what's going on? im on 1.12.2 on the Yao Pack
You'll be able to see in the up stream machines if you are getting enough water or not. You'll probably need more.
@@oblyx thank you for the reply, but i seem to have figured out the issue. Once I place IC2 chunk loaders near my setup, it began working flawlessly. i have also doubled up my pumps for good measure. thank you
@oblyx you state that your Electrolytic Separator was upgraded. What upgrades?
full. no point in doing speed without energy.
you reckon you cold use the heat from the reactor to heat up the brine generator?
You can.
does the reactor not melt down?, that was kinda dissapointing
The fusion reactor doesn't. However the new fission reactor does make with da boom.
Yup switch ports mode before cabling.
Love your vids intro gives me ocd
Haha thanks
I can now stay awake!

which mod do you use to see what block your looking at/ what tool can be used to mine it
i think it's "The One Probe"
Still haven’t figured out how I’m gonna power the lasers with the limited power generation I currently have.
I usually build the lasers first so they can be filling while I'm working on everything else. They are a pain to fill even with tons of power.
Just let it run overnight lol. Instead of upgrading through multiple tiers, I just had my basic energy generation fill the laser for 10 hours
Umm question is savanna hot biome?
it can go up 99.72M RF/T with dt fuel only
Is there a reason not to run it at the highest injection rate if you have a system like the one you built?
Just fuel and need.
@@oblyx Well then, I have a lot of crafting to do!

You've got to feed it fuel both tritium and deuterium. Then you need a hohlraum with D-T fuel in it. Put the hohlraum into the reactor.
