- I had a lot of fun with this project. It is made with birdseye maple, bubinga and east indian rosewood. I really love how these woods compliment each other. I did have some challenges with the zigzag feature ring. It didn't exactly come out perfect. But, that's ok. I'm having fun.
I hope you enjoy my videos. If you haven't yet, please subscribe. Thank you for watching! --Dan
Great, I enjoyed the entire video. Can't wait until I can try it. Thanks
A pleasure to watch. Stewart, south west Australia.

Another gorgeous bowl, your are the king of segmented bowls, Thanks for sharing Dan.
Great! Wonderfull!!!
It's a great looking bowl with a beautiful design. Thanks for the video.
As a 83 year old beginner wood turner, I am just amazed. Kinda like golf. Don’t really know how difficult it is unless you have tried it. Thanks for your post.
Another beautiful piece! Good job Dan
Sir I hope some day I'm as good! You do great work!
Great work! That will be a treasured heirloom for somebody, I'm sure.
Another absolutely outstanding bowl. Your designs and execution are amazing. I don't know how you do it. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful!
Dan the second time I am watching this and it is even more stunning and outstanding as the first time. Just magnificent and spectacular
Dan wow you are an amazing person every bowl or vase or whatever you make is fantastic and stunning and awesome.
Wow that it down right awesome, very nice!
Very labor intensive, but what a gorgeous piece it turned into. Another amazing piece of art. Your choice of music makes the video even more relaxing.
Wow. Your work with all the angles and gluing is amazing, so much work done before it even gets too the lathe, I never realized.
You always know how to create the perfect finish, it looks like glass, just gorgeous!
Complimenti bellissimo lavoro grande artista👍👍👍👍🇮🇹
Just stunning...I love it!
Hi Dan, Amazing. Very well explained in how to make the feature ring. Take care Dan. Cheers, Huw
Thanks 👍
I like it, fantastic job.
Billy Tingle a real pleasure to watch such craftmanship just found out your location, I'm 40 miles away and found this after talking with Robbin Grays wife.
Hi Billy! Thanks for watching!
Beutyfull master levingston
That looks incredible, Dan, and a great finish too! I'm going to be learning a lot from your vids!
Thanks David! I had a lot of fun on that project, but I didn't exactly get the pieces right in the feature ring. Funny story, I became a grandfather last year and I put him in this bowl when he was about four months old and took a picture. It was a riot! Too funny.
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft LOL Dan, that's hilarious! You could have fooled me though, about the feature ring. Nice work. Maybe someday, I'll be up to your level...
so great... it's another work of art Dan, Congrats!
So pretty. Love your stuff x
Красатень неописуемая👍👍👍😊😚
Another beautiful piece of art Dan. As you say, "I'm having fun". Sometimes, when we get immersed into making something as technical as what you have just made, it's easy to lose sight of the fun aspect. Like you, woodturning for me, is all fun.
Thanks for compiling, posting and sharing. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Regards and best wishes. T.
beautiful
Awesome Piece
Beautiful!!
Great work
Bonjour dan, encore une fois félicitation, ç est un super travail de qualité, je me régale merci
I from Brasil. Is amazing. Congratulation....
you're very meticulous. love the bowl
That really is amazing.
I love this bowl. What angle is the zigzag cut on. I can’t figure it out. It’s beautiful! Thank you
Franklin Hall
I think I used 20 degrees.
Trabalho muito lindo parabéns.
Brilliant
How do you visualise what you are going to make and how to cut and know how much wood you are going to need to end up with such a fantastic bowl👌👌👌
I use a software program called Woodturner Pro, which helps me determine the cutting dimensions and wood requirements. Thank you for watching.
Sei veramente un artista è un professionista complimenti
Beautiful work!! Do you have your items for sale?
Hi Diana, thank you for watching. Most of my wood art I donate to charity silent auctions. But, if you see any of my creations on RUclips that you'd like to purchase, let me know, and I can recreate for you.
The top shape and design are too different than the bottom, but I love the middle.
Actually, when I was making this I was thinking the same thing and I almost reduced in by one ring. Thanks for watching.
Bellissima.
Instead of using a press for the rings use a flat chuck to hold the rings to finish on the lathe on both sides. then mount the flat chuck on the tailstock and push each ring up and glue.
Hi Tom, thanks for watching. I've tired both methods. I prefer using the weight.
👏👏👏👏👏🖐️
Dan, I'm enjoying your work and your videos. What is the hand sanding device you use? It looks like a sponge ball. Thanks
Hi Josh, thanks for watching. It's called a bumble bee sander. They are available at Woodcraft.
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Thanks for the info & replies.
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft I checked Woodcraft and Amazon and found no bumble bee sander. Any other leads? It seemed like a good idea. Tx

@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Thanks!
Just lovely. I love Indian Rosewood, to bad it is so expensive. Bubinga is also known as African Rosewood isn’t it?
Hi Chanda, I'm not sure about that but both woods are known as tone-woods and always look great together. I love both.
Beautiful bowl sir. I've been looking at the Nova lathes, in particular the exact one you have, I was thinking about the 1624 being that later on I could upgrade to the DVR motor. What do you think of yours.
It's funny that you mentioned my lathe. I just now, within the last ten minutes, received my DVR motor upgrade via UPS! LOL! Too funny! Ok, I love my Nova lathe. It is solid and highly reliable. However, I wanted to be able to change the speed much more easily. I urge you to consider the Nova Saturn DVR lathe, which is on sale right now at Woodcraft. There will be times that you will want to quickly change the speed and with the standard 1624 II, it is a pain. But, other than that, I have enjoyed it very much....and even more so very soon with my new DVR motor upgrade. Now then, if you hit the lottery between now and when you're ready to buy, you will want to buy the Robust lathe....and then invite me over to use it. LOL!
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft yeah I was also looking at the Saturn, which is not a bad price for what you get, I just haven't seen to many people with this brand, so thanks for your input!! And for sure, If I won the lottery, I wouldn't be the guy buying fancy cars and vacation homes I'd have the fancy wood shop LOL, and definitely a Robust. Thanks again.
Where did you get your segment sled, did you make it or did you get it from Rockler
I bought it from Rockler.
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft thanks, although I may build my own. It's good to know.

Hi, I'm Latin American; and I was wondering what kind of finishing is putting it at the end? please
Hola, gracias por mirar. Uso un sellador de lijado de celulosa seguido de una pasta de lijado (Yorkshire Grit) y, finalmente, un poco de cera de alto brillo (Hampshire Sheen). Espero que esto te ayude.
"Tis clear in watching this that a guy can't have too many clamps!
This is true. I'm pretty sure it's in the Bible somewhere.
Well, I wouldn't go that far, but Noah didn't have gorilla glue in the old days either, so he must have had something that held pieces of wood together.
im kurdsh good gop you hand goldn
