Oh, I'm drooling even more than I usually do!
I like the cover of Tuxedomoon "Half-Mute" (about 2:37). That's great.
Albert Collins! Gatemouth! Great way to start that off!
And "Houston Ghetto Blues" with the amazing Hop Wilson. Oh, that man's sound! I see that's on P-Vine Records. That's a Tokyo label. I know that I have at least one P-Vine album (a Homesick James album). I remember that I found that by mail order somehow way back in the day. I think that I may have ordered it from Japan. I had read about Homesick, who was Elmore's cousin and recorded with him, and I wanted so badly to get a Homesick album! It's a great album, although not up to Elmore standards.
I have long loved Magic Slim. I did get to see him live in 2003. I got him to sign a copy of his CD "Black Tornado," which is one of the best blues albums around--and, for that mattter, just a world-class album altogether. He shook my hand after he signed the CD. His hand basically wrapped a couple of times around mine. Slim was a good-sized man!
Robert Nighthawk was just brilliant. He had a nasal, yet liquid tone and beautiful phrasing. He liked to mix straight eights and triple quarter notes over a shuffle rhythm (a technique that Elmore and Hound Dog also used). His phrasing gave a beautiful movement to his lines. (I've tried doing that when playing with other musicians, and they can never keep the rhythm going. Frustrating.)
Kings of the Blues! Tonite! Elmore James! Now those are words that I live by!
And I don't know a couple of those foils. I need to go through carefully and follow up!

Excellent Teardrop Explodes oddities album. Julian Cope a bit of a mad genius.

Thank you for this. It is 7 weeks until I will be in Tokyo. This looks like a great crate digging opportunity.

My pleasure! It’s a record store stop for vinyl shoppers arriving to or leaving from Tokyo; you’ll likely see shoppers with suitcases on wheels at recoFan. Glad to be a resource to you. Good luck in Tokyo!

I see so little American Blues albums on my travels. It's a genre I really like that is woefully under- represented in my collection. Nice Psychic TV album lurking in the Industrial section.

That group of boxes at RECOfan was some of the most extraordinary ones in one place. After awhile you get used to the repeats but that grouping was very special.

There's less than a hand full of these artists I know and less than that I've listened to. Looks like a cool shop though.

Teardrop explodes never charted well and were (maybe sadly) a two album band, that 3rd album was the compilation of the 'musical differences' end!
05:23 I used to have that New order PFD VHS. Don't these places ever have an early 80s UK Indie bin??

RECOfan had an 80’s UK Indies section but I can’t remember why I opted not to go through it. RECOfan was the first of a 1day/six store video visit in Shibuya of which the last was the HMV stores with Rich and Takashi (video posted). With RnR Garden (video posted) and a HipHop store (short video coming soon) in-between. When I saw that fantastic blues section at RECOfan, I knew @UncleDansVintageVinyl would love it, and so few YT VC channels cover American Blues, so I focused there. What you don’t know is that I'm about to edit some footage of 70’s & 80’s UK punk & Indie and New Wave 45’s at a store in Shinjuku named NAT which I will likely post in late July-August. And I have been green lighted to film at the stalwart Vinyl in Shinjuku where Henry Rollins and Jimmy Page were photographed shopping back in the day.

@@ricefieldrecords I don't care where Henry Rollins and Jimmy Page get their groceries, I just want a full UK 80s Indie album bins from now on ok. I want a pan around outside, a walk in following some nice people and then I wanna be taken to lunch midway through.
PS Why didn't you cover the good bathroom facilities at this store!!
