I met Darren McGavin in 1981. He was the guest star on a TV show where I worked. One day during lunch break he came to the production office, asked to use a typewriter and typed away for several minutes on several sheets of paper. When he finished he said, "I had to type up a new lease for my tenant." McGavin was a smart, down to earth, personable man.

Hitchcock was on a US chat show, maybe Dick Cavett, I don't recall. The host asked Why did you come to America? Hitchcock: It was part of a cultural exchange program. Host: Well what did the US send in exchange?" Hitchcock: Nobody knows; they're afraid to open it.
