- I am very sad that they removed Dust2 from the active map pool. It's been my favorite map in any video game since the early 2000s. I hope they re-release it quickly since I think Anubis in the pro scene will be quite dull. :(

I feel like everyone is forgetting that and thinking it was always in the tournament pool. It simply wasn't. Yes, it is the most iconic map. But maps like Inferno and Nuke and at this point also Mirage are also very iconic, yet they were at some point out of the map pool (except Mirage).
Obviously, Dust II is probably not getting a remake anytime soon (it's still pretty new), but they may have other reasons to remove it from the active duty. Maybe they removed it to experiment with some stuff (flipping the doors, making them more wallbangable or adjusting some angles, etc.) before they add it back in. Or they maybe finally listened and want to rotate the maps a bit, switching out one map for another one after every major. It's very possible that after the next major, if Anubis has proven itself, it will stay, while Dust II comes back and pushes out a different map (maybe finally Mirage?).

It's a shame that dust 2 was removed from the active pool, instead of other map. Dust 2 is such an iconic and classic map.

The rise of the prices of the souvenir packages of Dust 2 are going to be insane. I remember when I had a couple of those many years ago. On the other hand, the Awp magazine is unjustified. As for the m4a1 s nerf, it's OK because most people have been complaining about it.
With this new awp update, it feels like the awp is lighter. It feels like the 1.6 awp

The awp nerf doesn't change anything except that you cant spam with it through smokes or whatever. When is the last time you saw an awp player reload the weapon. Also the AWP never gets caught off guard because you just take an angle then run back and take another angle, therefore the awp can reload when it wants to.
I mean it stops anybody who’s inexperienced with the Awp from using it aggressively I suppose. Somebody who can hit shots still can kill a whole team with one mag in theory. But stops aggressive awpers who don’t have the best aim. Which I suppose is a good thing. Makes it even more of a higher risk to awp aggressively rather than guaranteeing a few cheese kills

If you think about it, they replaced the modern Egypt aesthetic with the old Egypt aesthetic.
And I won't lie, I'm hella biased towards the "Anubis" map only for its theme, I even used to have all the Egyptian-themed weapon skins so that should say a lot. I'm actually excited to see if they add the "Anubis" map-specific skin collection. Or hopefully, they update the map's layout, I don't think there's a way Valve would just let a map in pro scene without tweaking it first.

The awp mag change was coming, they shouldn't have killed dust2, and the m4a1s makes sense since the meta has been CT sided recently.

1. Mirage
2. Inferno
3. Dust II
Yeah in Comp. And you can still play dust 2 comp. It is however removed for the pro scene. And its the least played map for pro scene since 3 tournaments ago.
Why is everyone acting like Dust 2 got completely removed from the game? 😂 This change only affects pro players and introduces a completely new map with new ways to play and approach the game. Like if you still want to play Dust2 you can no one is gonna stop you.

Been playing for years, This update is great, Sorry AWP nerf makes sense, as AUTO is more expensive/M4a1-s was OP dispite being the cheapest CT Rifle. And anubis is a 7/10 map
Man finally, i hate how much of an effect the AWP has had on every single gamemode in CSGO, and this nerf doesn’t even feel that significant, as you still can ace without a reload, it’s just harder

CAUTION A DIFFERENT VIEW: I think y'all should be OPEN-MINDED about this change, and honestly I think more maps should've been replaced. Like obviously there will be improvements and I think 5 months before the Major is enough for feedback and changes. This reminds me of how dota 2 frequently buff/nerf/ and adds new heroes into the map pool, IT REALLY FRESHENS EVERYTHING UP.

I don't like Dust II as a map, but man, It's a history of Counter Strike, It's the most popular in CS 1.6 and second popular in CS:GO, and now It's been switched to the map on which some pro players didn't even play, all of the pro teams now gotta learn the callouts, grenades and defaults. We'll see what will happen in the future, but this is the second map I don't like in a current map pool (the first one is Ancient br)
The awp nerf really pissed me off. As a normal player at the average level, it's common to miss at least 1 shot per 2 shots fired so it makes the 3k capabilites non-existent if you either miss or have fired shots previously

Even if they did remove dust II they should have replaced it with cache or something. I mean it does not really matter for mm, but for pro play it will change stuff. I think they did this because Dust II was not played that much at the last major.

I like Anubis it's a beautiful render and once you know the map it's not that different to any other map but yes I don't get why Dust2 is being removed that's one of my favourite maps too and I even loved Dust1 even though that was more CT biased than Office.

Im suprised about peoples reaction for removing dust 2. Everytime I play competitive with map vote there are about 70-80% of people who tries to vote out dust 2 and if it gets selected even leaves the game. Like my impression when playing was that people are tired of dust 2 but now everyone crying that it’s not in active pool. I guess it’s true that you strat to value things only after loosing them

@@jimmy5516 Thats a miss chief, whole reason why D2 is even as popular as it is, is because there are barely any strats, people just play it as a deathmatch map. There are people who queue nothing but D2 and get supreme who end matches with 2 flashbangs when they aren't playing their stale map

Honestly, no idea why so many people complain. Dust II is not gone, you can still play it and they will never remove it, as it's the most popular and most iconic map. Dust II is just out of the professional map pool, which it by the way already was a few years back, when the map was getting a remake. CS:GO survived it back then and so did we, no reason why we and the game can't survive it now. Besides, not just Dust II, but every other map ever played on pro level (except Mirage) was at some point removed from the tournament pool. Including such iconic maps like Inferno, Nuke or Train.
As for the reasons behind it being removed, I see two options.
The first one is that they want to make some minor changes to the map. Not a complete remake (since the map is working well and it's still pretty new), but some smaller adjustments (for example changing some angles, adjusting cover in certain spots or making doors more wallbangable). They obviously don't want to ship such changes when the map is in the tournament pool, they need more casual players (as well as pros in PUG games) to test them, so they can fine tune everything and fix every bug.
The second option would be that they finally listened to suggestions from the community and decided to rotate the map pool after every major. Therefore, if Anubis can prove itself, it will stay after the next major, with Dust II possibly returning and pushing out a different map (perhaps finally Mirage to get a remake?). The pushed out map will once again return after another major and push out a different map.
If you ask me, no matter which option it is (and it may be both at the same time), it is definitely a good thing.
As for Anubis, time will tell if it's good enough or not. It certainly is an interesting map and it's very popular in the community. Even many pros have claimed to like it a lot. It obviously went through a bunch of changes since the original 2020 release, so it should be good to have a go.
As for the weapon nerfs, M4A1-S is fine, it was overused and it's probably not such a big nerf anyway. Seems like Valve are trying to find the right balance so both M4A1-S and M4A4 are used, so this is a good step.
As for the AWP, not sure if nerf was required. But here it is and it's not really that huge. It will affect people who miss a lot, but this change is obviously aimed at the players who tend to hit more often (and if you miss a lot, AWP is simply not the gun you should be using), especially the pros.
AWP is used in a certain way, and you hardly ever require shooting more than 5 bullets in a row. Players take a shot and then reposition, often to a different part of the map, giving them the time to reload. If you miss a shot, you're either killed straight away or when you atempt to peek again.
The only situation where you may require more than 5 bullets is when defending a site. But then again, you're usually not given the space to fire all 5 shots, and even if you miss some and get a chance to shoot again, you're mostly not facing all 5 players at once (some may be already dead or they're not taking part in the rush), so it's not like it stops you from killing them all.
The biggest problem would probably be if you got rushed when you've already fired a few shots and didn't have time to reload, that's when you may run out of bullets. I'm pretty sure pros will start to count AWP shots to rush in when the AWPer can't defend himself, while AWPers will reload more often and maybe even actively try to spam less, so they're not caught by a rush when they only have 1 bullet.
The AWP is now useful to spam the R button.
I don't really play the game anymore or really watch what is going on, but I love this move because it's so crazy. Dust 2 is overplayed at this point and just removing it from active duty is a crazy move, but funny. Will definitely shake things up if they keep up with this decision and don't get pressured into reverting the decision.

Last pro match on train was 2020. 2 years ago, where it got removed and ancient god added. After that we haven't had any changes. so i like that it's not a map that we have seen before in the last 5 years. though i do agree that maps like tuscan, cache or cbble would have been a better fit

Removing dust 2 is probably the most based thing ive ever seen in my life. All these people saying that „it was so good“ are capping out of their fucking minds because it was one of the most dogshit maps in the game. Valve has restored my faith in humanity with this one.

The pro's run this game, and they also see where these changes should be made a lot more than even the average global or level 10. This update is actually one of the better ones they've had in a while. Get rid of the stale map while also adding competitive balance. That's how updates should be
My first expericence with anubis is getting smurfs from Supreme in enemy team and getting absolutely wrecked 16:0. Never touching this map again

The AWP change is really nice.
One miss is a wipe potential lost, making competetive play more interesting.
But in casual play "drop awp" is now a less safe eco play though.

Dust2 got replaced because it was the least played map in the pro scene. During the entirety of Rio major it got played about 3-4 times so it only makes sense that Dust2 had to go sooner or later

- Dust2 was terrible and had no tactical depth
- M4A1-s was clearly OP, but shouldn't be nerfed to death (argument to use one or the other now)
- AWP has been OP for years, and a smaller mag is actually a great way to nerf it without ruining the weapon

Also they're about to remove Dust 2 from faceit because it's removed in pro matches. Same as cobblestone. We were begging valve for years and years to solve cheaters problems and all we got is a bunch of shit skins and shit updates. @@outlaw9073 Train was removed from active duty 2 years ago yet has been on faceit all this time. Most faceit players have a mm rank, so yes I would say 90% of players play mm. It's good that they remove d2 anyways, its sucks and has been stale for many years

Finally an AWP nerf. I really dislike one shot snipers in games like this, as it’s easily abused, and doesn’t take much skill to point and click.
Awp should renamed from “AWP” to AWM because the AWM has 5 bullets unlike the AWP

Actually, they could also have added Anubis w/o removing Dust 2. Very rarely played Anubis as well, but looks quite similar to Dust 2, but only from the textures. The map design is somehow weird :D ahha
