- Grateful to get the invite to fish opening weekend (day 2) at the Palmdale Fin and Feather. We were chasing big trout and while my friends got some monsters, I missed my one chance at a trophy! Thank you to Anthony and Shaun for the invite and for teaching me some valuable techniques. I had an absolute blast and am SUPER grateful!

I'm juiced for trout season, great content.
Thank you Dante...I'm looking to go hard the next couple of months. Hopefully we can both have some toads to show for the grind!
I know they are still fun to catch
Cool video!!
Always appreciate your support Derick, thank you!
A lot of trout (aficionados) will tell you 2 lb test all day long....but So Cal has been planting monster size trout from Calaveras and Mt. Lassen. I changed from .15mm 2lb izor to .15mm 5lb test Runcle fluorocarbon coated line. I haven't lost a big fish since!
Nice video, I got my pb there at fin and feather 6.4 lb last weekend!! Tight lines...
Wow that’s super smart - same diameter, greater breaking strength even with the extra stretch from izor. I’ll def keep that in mind. Big congrats on that pb bro, fin and feather is ridiculous!!
I was to the right of you!! Didn’t get a single bite, saw you guys killing it
Oh awesome man, small world! It was definitely a grind man but we were lucky to get a few. Thanks for commenting!
You should try fishing in lake arrowhead. It is a really private lake but when I’ve fished there I’ve only caught fish bigger than 15 inches with a Thomas buoyant.
Thanks for the heads up, maybe one day I'll make it up there!
hwaiting!
Yes sir!!! Ahhhh, this day was such a fun experience.
Dammmm bro that big one tho atleast you did good brother👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Love your freshwater fishing adventures
Thanks Mo! Do you hear that? The sand is calling!! lol
@@BenjieKimFishing hahaha, it’s not only calling, it’s crying for you
Great job, atleast you got a nice day there normally windy. Finesse buddy.
Thank you. It was a fun day and a privilege to have the chance to fish there. Maybe one day I'll be able to fish there again!
What kind of jigging rod was Anthony using?
Is the fish still contaminated
Hey there, I hadn't heard of any contamination. This vid was from last year (or 2 years ago maybe?) so I can't remember if something was going on then. I haven't heard of any issues for this year.
u have a link to that pheonix rod?
Unfortunately, no link as Phenix doesn't sell them on Amazon. Sav-On Tackle or any of your local shops should have them. If not, I believe you might be able to order direct from phenixrods.com
I hope that helps 🤙
Good job man nice fishing 🎣
I appreciate that, thank you so much!
I would love to go fishing with you man 💯
Appreciate the positive stoke Edgar! I'll be hitting the sand hard soon, maybe I'll see ya out there!
@@BenjieKimFishing well hope to see you out there man
It’s a dump, the people that run it don’t like fishermen 3 rd . Class all the way !
Can't tell you the number of times I've driven past that place and wondered what the fishing was like. The first time I saw it (back in the 1960s), my dad only said, "It's a private lake". It's awesome! (sorry you lost that hog)
haha yea man, I've driven past there many times and never new what it was. Now I know!
Not too bad for an ocean fisherman, haha! Nice job Benji!
lol, thank you bro! Fresh or salt, big or small, I want em all!! 🤙
@@BenjieKimFishing yes sir I couldn't agree more and you're welcome! I bought two Lucky Craft lures cuz of you and I'm looking to put them to use here soon!
those were monsters!
That lake is ridiculous...the amount of big trout they stick in there is crazy!
People that I know go to fin and feather to make awesome videos! I'm not jealous! I swear!
haha! I am blessed and grateful to have had the chance to fish there with some really good fishermen!
@@BenjieKimFishing yes you are! Keep up the good work! I love your videos! I have plans later this week to do a little striper fishing. Gonna try my hand at cast netting for shad. Hopefully I get some good footage, and I will post the video sometime next week.
Fun video! 🤙🏽
Thanks Tan! I'm looking forward to pounding the sand!
Man, losing that big one was a heartbreaker! But at least even those give you a story to tell. The ones you got were very nice looking eaters, though, no question about that. I don't know why, but trout with a lot of well-defined spots like those just look more tasty to me. Where do they source their trout?
I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed as I've been trying to catch a nicer size one this whole trout season. Haha, but that's ok, that's fishing for ya.
I wasn't sure where they source, but I looked into it a bit and looks like they get them from Mt. Lassen.
I could hear your heart break right at the time the line broke.😭 Since you were soaking Power Bait my guess is the trout's teeth chaffed the line enough to cause the break. My PB is 5.5 lbs at Diamond Valley in Hemet. Caught two over 5 that day. Love your vids
haha, yea not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed. But its all good, that's fishing for ya. Anthony said the exact same thing as you, the teeth may have chaffed. Wouldn't have taken much as I was using 2 lb.
I WISH I could say I have a 5.5! I love Diamond Valley, one of my favorite lakes to fish, but we exclusively chase the green bass there.
Thank you for your support!
