Great idea priming the oil pump then cranking the engine. Maby a good practice for all of them. so, you know all is healthy in the oiling, And no leaks. When I was working all new engines were primed & turned over without spark plugs before ever firing it up. Thank you for all the good videos. Keep them coming!
Note you may also have a vacuum pump to replace on the 2l ecoblue engine, as the wet belt fibres find their way into it, from floating across the top of the head. after being flicked off the top pulleys.
That 2.0 liter oil in belt just a disaster waiting to happen, perhaps not just as bad but the 1.2 petrol puretech and even the echotec must not be far behind actually surprised Barum dont have a flood of them, know some car dealers that wont even take one as a trade in?
How many times does the 60% off deal arrive the week after the big purchase! It is a fact of life, as is getting rid of something and a week later finding out you need it. The joy is knowing you are not the only one this happens to.
Lee, it would be of great interest to everyone who has this ecoblue engine in their van to see the FULL resuts of your inspection in DETAIL, Im sure if you titled the videos with ecoblue and transit, that it would bring a lot of views to your channel.
All wet belt designs are an aweful idea but the reason most fail are the oil change intervals. Chage your oil every 10000 or even 5000 miles and change the belt every 6 years on the ecoblue and they will last. Not a difficult job either, just a little time consuming. Nothing compared to a 1.0 ecoboom
I used to sell vans to a bloke who did 250-300 miles a day 6 days a week couriering taking internal mail from Cheshire to north wales and Anglesey then on to Birmingham everyday and back . He would do 80k miles a year and would buy a van every year and if his van played up would get it gone and buy another . He would buy Astra Isuzus off me and do 75-80k in my old van and bring it back a year later and them astras would be now on 160k-180k . And the reason I’m saying this is because they’d do it , regular servicing and maintenance plus decent tyres and I’d get a good van back . How times have changed 😂
@@chiefrocka8604 the 1.7 Isuzu a pretty good engine if not ran out of water...got an Astra 2004 1.7 still going ok at 350.000km..it even survived the crew i fix vans and diggers for in France....
The company I used to work for had 30 vans at our depot.. All transits with wet belt engines.. When I left I think at least half have had new engines, all less than 100k...
Glad your better, maybe you should video all the engines when you test the oil pressure to have proof that there are no leaks when it leaves your works?
Isaac gone for a week and a half? Lee needs to plan some good punishment jobs for when he returns as employee training. Leaving for more than a day or two is not acceptable and needs to be discouraged.
As a grommet when it comes to Engines , why do sometimes you use liners and sometimes rebore and oversized pistons ? Don't take the pi$$ as I'm an electrical engineer not mechanical 😅
A liner gives you a std bore size and the best chance of the head gasket doing its job if the gap between the cylinders is very tight. If there's plenty room then some engines can be rebored up to 3mm bigger diameter . In the 1970's I did some design work for a mk1 escort engine , basically a pinto block with liners to reduce the bore size down significantly , 3 thou grooves for stainless steel seeling rings inside the std gasket . This around 1700 engine would run 20 psi boost for short periods ( ie blast past anything else for 10 seconds )with quite crude ancillarys . But the owner was not happy with modest power and went the 2000 cc way and had blow ups every meeting.

Great seeing you fit and well Lee, Isaac does a wonderful job covering for you, looking forward to hearing more about his car 👍. Bob M. South Wales
"What size is it, Lee?"
"6 inches by 82mm, mate"
versatility
Easily swap between imperial and metric without thinking. Sign of good grasp of numbers. Unlike myself always struggled with numbers.
I grew up with both too, so my measurement "scale" goes to whichever is closer. Runs 1/4", 10mm, 1/2", 15mm, 3/4" and so on.....
As an engineer, you should design a chain or gear conversion for those stupid wet belt Fords.
Brilliant idea. Barum could sell thousands of them to the trade, or direct to customers, or just fit them in house as part of an overhaul package..
We used to have 6 cylinder Holden three speed manuals with column shift. “Three on the Tree” they were known as.
My mates went bang at 28k in July. They put another engine in but their customer service was abysmal and thats being polite
The Civic gear lever on the dash seams odd but works really well. Nice position
That`s how I test Alternators with a drill and socket.
Worst engine aka The Kier Starmer of Motor Vehicle Engines 😂
Would that be Kweir Stammer?
Could be worse , Truss or Johnson!

I came here to say the same. 😂

I feel like a championship white EP3 would make for a fine shop car/daily, with your logo on it in orange and some orange features.
like an ex girlfriend that Issac. gives ya a bug and then buggers off on ya!

Where will you put the E30 when it arrives?.
He's hoping to sell the kit car, then the ramp (called a twin-post lift in 'merica) is free.
Hi Lee. What's happening with the kit car?
Bare in mind that alusil piston rings are different material than iron bore ones, might bite the iron
Bear not bare..
Could Metal Shaper Tom make your pillar parts?
We have 4 ford transits and everyone has had a new engine, not 1 got to 90k without a major engine failure, shite engine
No 1.9 TDi eh. Even the Maser Ferrari 4.2 reliable well beyond 100m

Clean up all the milling gak until the machines and the floor are spotless. Use a toothbrush and get to it, recruit!
I believe Ford are doing a major recall on these engines specifically because of their shit design. I wonder what happened to all the good designers?
Ford hasn't had good engineers, especially doing cam phasers for decades. Now belts in oil. Idiots.
They are yes.......to replace any blown engines with another JUST THE SAME
