Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity. Please join in as I embark again, for just another day on space station 13.

SS13 is a very special game. Only in SS13 can you eat a cheeseburger so big that it gives you a heart attack, then suplex Macho Man, and then fart on a bible and explode.

Also, hot take: SG:U was largely subpar take on BSG formula in SG setting. And, IMO, both were already over saturated in the sci-fi series scene (remember, back when serial fiction was a niche?).
SG:U did suffer from trying to do the BSG formula too close to said show. If they has waited about ten years then it would have had a chance.
Also SG:U also kind of broke the ideal of the SG set up, SG is about a group of people thrown together generally who work together towards a common cause to fight an overpowering evil. SG:U was just all about this group of individuals who seemed hellbent on fucking each other over, mostly for no good reason.....
IMO the guy who killed Nar'sie with two bags of holding beats it by a tiny margin.

Tgstation engineer here, the most I've done with TEGs is setting it up in engineering lobby with 3 freezers one side and 3 heaters the other and getting 22MW. This is also black magic to me
I was chef that round. I have a bad habit of making way too much food and leaving it everywhere
Citadel sometimes has a problem with hydroponics getting arrested, thus the chef cannot cook anything.

Hey man, love the channel! I am one of those "grey tide" noobs, though I haven't jumped in to the game yet. Your channel is inspiring me to get in and learn this mess
"Grey tider" more seems to refer to people who run around fucking shit up and stealing things while not actually trying to learn a job or be helpful outside of what they think will make them "more robust" but is really just powergaming shittily.
Take Tex's advice and either go on Goon and take one of the colorful civvie jobs and RP it up, or just go to a department and try to learn the job. If you can get access to a job (such as botany or barman) then go for that and try to learn that job. I forget if other stations have this feature cus I've not played on any others in the two days I've been back in SS13, but Goon has a Mentorhelp command which you can ping and ask questions or advice from to point you in the right direction.
I came for the macho man fight, learned of the engine works and stayed to see if tex tells the story of how his ex ended up hating dnd.
There's something... soothing.. about tex's voice... It's slightly asmr ish... i'm definitely not gay or anything.
Everyone is gay for the Tex man, so don't try deny it.

this game looks pretty awesome. I'm wondering if someone will try to remake it for vr. The idea sounds pretty interesting, if done right.
That was some good this Tex. Keep it up man. Also question. I try to get into SS 13 here and there but can't really find a good job for me. Either they're not really something I like doing or complicated as hell and I just end up flubbing it. Is there any suggestions you may have about finding a job I may like?
go to goonstation, join late, get one of the civilian jobs, learn to roleplay and the basics. Be a tourist, be a health inspector, be a coach and teach people the importance of hustle. Then, just open the wiki and take a stab at a job. When you get stuck, hit f1 and get a mentor. Don't be afraid of dying.
I would recommend being a botanist or barman on Goon, besides Tex's recommendations above. I prefer chef, personally, and I'm still pretty new in terms of experience.
I'd recommend the Goon RP server specifically. People on there are pretty user-friendly and the server gets a slow enough traffic that you don't get as much chaos fucking your shit up making it even harder to learn the mere basics of a job.
I'm sure if you asked on the Goon Discord that someone might be willing to come on with you and show you how to do a job too.

Hydroponics is not as complex to get just the basics down. You can practice with the garden on most TG based servers.
Also, Citadel station might be a 'furry containment server' but every cartoon animal person there calls security when a human named Timothy Teakettle laughs. Trust us, not only does Timothy hate bees, he makes tomatoes that cause plasma floods. I have witnessed it when it happened. Every round he either makes something that will fight off war ops, or Timothy has to be cloned before security can throw him in the brig.

My only lead was the steam group saying to watch your video on how to join the discord but I am sad to report that I cannot seem to find it.

I miss the classical TEG aspect of engineering. It's something other servers fail to get. Singulo, solars, anit-matter and supermatter is great, but you need to get the basics down.
that and TEG is actually deep and requires knowledge to exploit. It isn't set-it-and-forget-it
