First I watched the Luther series years ago over and over and fell for Luther like a pine cone out of a tree! haha...but yes, he's got it in every way and to see him back makes my days. But will he be the old Luther? This is where I'm a bit confused. Can't wait to find out since I just tuned in and there he is and me thinking it's a re-run. but not! However Luther explains himself or his character as a little twisted, as he was back in LUTHER, but I was so upset when they quit the series. I watched many snippets to find out why. Idris contradicted himself when he revealed how it wasn't his favorite story because it was a little too dark.

Netflix needs to pick this up from the bbc because the ending to season 5 and opening to the movie what happened did Alice survive how did he get out of jail time and back on the force before he was exposed in public there’s so much room for more Luther
I loved the series, plausible and belivable , a dodgy cop takes on the bad guys and wins. However the film sees the BBC turn Luther into a superhero without a cape. He takes on around 20 cons in his prison escape, towards the end he gets stabbed and still survives a deep see swim in icy waters ..and survives . It the film was going to be so far fetched then why couldnt of Alice morgan been brought back from the dead after her fall ?

If you’re from scandinavia the ending sucks…rest of the movie was good… Quick talk about the ending…a suit with no gloves or hat wearing fashion shoes on the mountains in Norway with a 3+ m of snow you wont be able to anything really quick…
Everybody involved with this project should be deeply embarrassed. No trace of the original series to be found here, just really lazy writing laden with worn out tropes, coincidences and unbelievable setups. The script was so ridiculous by the end it could work as a comedy I guess if you have no familiarity at all with the original series and the character assassination going on throughout.
The series was excellent, the film is s**t. At least the series just stretched facts, some of the film would be better off in a sci fi movie. Skipping over how Luther was sent to prison, in general population and everything just went his way- too far fetched. One minute they are trace phones, then they don’t. No explanation about the room full of people obtaining peoples secrets- of course that would happen. Next they have an armed DCI- in the Met, on a major crime team, she’s running a firearms job one minute, next she’s running through the streets with her hand gun! How did Luther leave the country without a false passport? Some retired Det Supt. Manages to convince authorities in Norway to deploy a helicopter and of course they knew they would need a couple of divers, just happened to see a hole in the ice, realised Luther must be in the lake and saved him. Interesting decision to leave him in all his wet clothes, in the back of the ambulance. There’s a lot more. Either Idris was under contract, or needed money, it wasn’t intelligent enough to have “Luther” in it
I don't get it of all the characters ignored of the Rings with the exception of the gentleman who plays the captain of the roheim ... Wind movie after movie after movie we see his face Gollum Gollum and hardly any of the other actors could get exceptional fine performance as good if not better than Golem Golem give me a f****** break I'm so sick and tired of seeing this guy's face on the screen and nobody else's is it typecasting except for the exception of Gollum Gollum don't get me wrong not saying this guy should not be getting actors Parts but Christ Almighty how about the rest Jesus Christ
You need to know it's terrible. Netflix needs to pay to bring back the original series, so you all can see it. Spoliers: It was so bad. As a huge fan of the original series it was quite a disappointment. The original series was a most see in it's day. The worst was the ending. How the hell were the police so late to arrive yet they knew they would need divers to save Luther and exactly where the hole in the ice was? Wouldn't it have been easier to have the oxygen tank in the defender to become accessible? And what about the two stab wounds to Luther's abdomen, they didn't seem to bother him at all! How the hell do you travel from London to the port of Dover to some place in Norway in one evening. That's like a 19 hour drive with ferries.
