Very helpful video! It was my first time doing a project with interfacing and a zipper. Smooth sailing until the end when I had to flip it inside out. I thought I had messed up so I started seam ripping. Realized that I did it all right but I forgot to unzip the zipper at that one step. Luckily I only seam ripped one edge before realizing and was able to sew that back up quick and unzip the zipper somehow. It looks and works great!
Had a go at making one this evening. Always apprehensive about zips, but daughter needed a case for school, and it was a pretty good attempt. Took me 2 or so hours as I've never made a pox pencil case before, and I surprised myself, and delighted with the result. Thank you 😊
Very helpful, i don’t have a sewing machine and it worked just as if i had one! Very simple and if you’re wondering how much time it took ,5-6 hours, for my first big project it worked just fine, maybe a little wonky but nonetheless is amazing, i recommended not using elastic cloth (similar to shirts)!! And as a beginner it taught to use different kind of sewing techniques and if i messed up ( being such a simple design) I could start again without problems, thank you so much!!

Excellent video!Easy to follow! Thank you! How does the size of the boxed corners affect the height of the bag? If I want a larger pencil case with a finished size of 9 ” L, 4” W and 4” T with boxed corners for 2:38. Is there some kind of a formula to use?
Thank you. I've done my pencil case easily following your guides. However, How thick is the interfacing you use in this video? My interfacing seems too soft and thin, the form in finish looks not good.
Thank you for your comment😘💕 To make this pouch, I use a woven fusible interfacing. The interfacing is not too thick but it's hand feeling is hard. Since the front fabric (poplin cotton fabric) is soft, I choose a hard interfacing to support the front fabric😆
Great instructions. I used medium Pellon on standard cotton fabric but the case seems a little mushy. Maybe I should interface the lining as well so it stands firm like yours does.
Thank you so much for your comment😘💖💖🌹 Ironing an interfacing onto the lining is a good way to make the pouch stiffer😊👍 You can also try ironing a hard fusible interfacing onto the front fabric, as the hard interfacing can give the pouch its shape😄🌈
Two comments to help clarify your instructions. 1 The little ‘tabs’ at both ends of the zip are too narrow. I had to recut pieces 5cm x 5cm in order for them to look neat and cover the zip. 2 It would be helpful to state that the zip is inserted at the bottom of your pattern where you’ve allowed 3.5cm to account for this.
Thank you so much for providing additional information😘💖💖🌹🌈 I apologize for any confusion caused by the content🙇♀️🙇♀️ Allow me to clarify that the zipper should be sewn on the top side of the pattern (the side that with 3cm corner)😊
Thank you so much for your question😘💖💖🌹 To make this pouch, I used a woven fusible interfacing. Its hand feeling is hard, which helps give the shape to the pouch😊🌈

That worked like a charm. Just spent 3 hours following along and the result is real good... but shorter than your version albeit having followed it to the letter. Was seam allowed added? Cause I treated it as included. Maybe this is why it is shorter. Anyhow, thanks for the tutorial.

Hi. I was wondering about the measurements. At the top it shows 3cm and the bottom 3.5cm is this why I noticed a couple of comments about it being wonky? I have just cut out and will make all corners the same. Lovely video and fabric. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your comment😘💖💖💐💐 I am so glad that you try to make the pencil pouch😍 For the pattern, the zipper should be sewn on the top side of the pattern (the 3cm corner side) because each side of the corner should be approximately 3.5cm after adding the zipper😊💕

It is not necessary but I think the pouch will wrinkle easily and can not keep a box shape if do not use interfacing in this case.😂 The woven fusible interfacing is used to iron on the front fabric and a cotton is used for lining to make the pouch in this video.😄Hope my answer can help you.😊💖

I just cut the continuous zipper into 24cm length when make this pouch.😋 For other choice, I think that the 20cm closed end zipper can instead of the 24cm continuous zipper. Because the total length of 20cm closed end zipper often is 24cm.🤗 Hope my answer can help you.😊💖 For your second question, since I haven't used 9 inches zipper to make this pouch before, so I can't answer this question. @@sherryhandmade thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I was able to make a pouch from an 8" zipper. I had to sew the ends closed to meet the 24cm length. I appreciate your instructional video greatly. Thank you so much!!
Lovely video. Thank you! I am curious though about your zipper. It is 24 cm long, but how wide is it? My zip is 2.7 cm wide. Maybe yours is wider? I found out that when I sew the zip at 1 cm seam allowance, as you and others recommend, the stitching is too close to the zipper's teeth and I cannot move the slider up or down. Why are the upper "squares" 3x3.5cm and the bottom ones 3.5x3.5? Where should I sew the zipper? In the 3.5 part or in the 3 part?
Sorry, I'm a beginner hahaha
The 0.5cm is for the zipper. The width of zipper (not include seam allowance) is 0.5cm. So, the zipper should sew in the 3 part.😊😊
Don't worry about it.😄Hope you enjoy the time of sewing.💕💕

There are 0.5cm for the zipper. The corner 3cm plus the width of zipper (not include seam allowance) 0.5cm, total is 3.5cm.😄
