Ecellant on how to take the solonoid apart-other vids don't show that- but I would have liked to have seen how you cleaned it and what you cleaned it with..
Hi Gary, thank you for the video. I believe my reverse solenoid is malfunctioning but I wanted to ask where you would purchase new components from. Is the dealer the only option or do you know any other reputable sources? Thank you
Thanks for making the video. What is your success rate on cleaning epc solenoid's??? Me personally I rarely find it necessary to disassemble the solenoid's,,what I do is as I disassemble the solenoid body,, I soak every solenoid in a gator-ade bottle that I cut in half and fill with solvent,,this helps to loosen the contamination,,I let them soak the whole time I'm rebuilding the transmission,,, then i wash each one by hand in my parts washer,,if it shakes and rattles it's generally ok,,, I will then vigorously shoot air into the back,,side openings of the snout then finally from the front,,if I have a stuck solenoid I drop it onto a piece of cardboard until it rattles,,then I blow air through it more, Note when I drop it onto the cardboard I only let the back of the solenoid hit the cardboard,,,I do this repeatedly until the valve rattles.. I also have a fuel injector pulser,,,that I hook to them as I shoot air into it..it turns the solenoid off and on. No matter the amount of fine metal from converter blowing up I've had good luck with cleaning and reusing!! Also if disassembling the solenoid,,he left out that you can take the plastic cap off,,,then under that is another threaded end that goes into the stem,,,you can take that apart there for further cleaning
Wow, thanks for the tips, i always change the EPC solenoid. sometimes when i just tried cleaning the solenoids, didn't like the way it shifted, so i got into the routine of washing them out, making sure the valve moves and i have had pretty good luck with that
I have a question?...i can't unplug the main connector of my 5r110w transmission to pull off the whole valve's body, ready tokoff the bolt ones connect outside of transsmision...i need to replace the gasket
So I have a f250 with this trans . I dropped the trans due to a RMS. When I put back together I was getting a temp sensor code for high voltage , after investigation I found the when putting the harness on one of the gold male prongs on the internal harness was bent ! I did my best to bend the prong back straight and boom no sensor code . BUT ! Now After the trans gets to temp I get solenoid d and c codes and the trans doesn’t shift properly from 1-2 and revers acts up as well . Soooo would you think maybe that I need a new internal harness ? Or do you think maybe when that prong bent and read high voltage it could have maybe shorted the solenoids ?? I’m at a loss here any input would be greatly appreciated sir !
Hello Gary I have a question,I go a 2008 ford f-350 6.4 turbo diesel super duty 4x4 transmission 5R110w problem it works 1,2,3 gear but it jumps the 4 gear ⚙️ and go from 3 to 5 gear any advice you can give me it will be much appreciated please thank you and advance
the 5r110w is supposed to skip 4th... or 5th... depending on the temperature of the fluid. It will shift 1,2,3,5,6 or 1,2,3,4,6. It always skips either 4th or 5th depending on the temperature.
hello good evening. as indeed there was a pack of burnt cloches. I replaced them and now the problem I have is that when I put drive or reverse the pressure drops to 1 Kpa, and the computer tells me that the overdrive selenoid B is stuck off, do you think there is an internal problem in the transmission due to something I put wrong or the problem will be the valve body?
@@lopezautoservicellc Something may have happened to the pump or pressure reg valve which is located inside the pump. Do you feel any engagement in drive or reverse?
@@GaryFerraro Yeah. When I put it in drive or reverse you feel the change in sound in the transmission. but there is no pressure on the line. That pump is the same as it was before lowering the transmission, and what the truck didn't have was reverse but it ran fine and made changes well, when I lowered the transmission what I had was a pack of Cloches stuck, I replaced it and now this is happening to me
@@GaryFerraro Friend, what is the difference between a 5R110 transmission and a 5T110W, I know that the W comes for diesel trucks, but they are exactly the same on the outside, is there a problem with putting a 5R110 transmission in a diesel truck?

You skipped the most important part, how to clean the solenoid.
I took it apart to wash it out and make sure the valve is free, that's pretty much what needs to be done
@Gary Ferraro what did you wash with?

The trans you have is a DCT470?
Hallo can help me, I need to know if my 5R110w, makes the changes visible or how the cars or simply are impersectible.
Do you have any codes present for the transmission? what is the year of the vehicle?
Is it possible to clean these solenoids with it in the chassis just dropping the pan and filter ?
No. The solenoids have to be taken apart to be cleaned. Valvebody has to come out
@@GaryFerraro ok wasn’t sure if I had to drop the valve body or not. I can’t thank you enough I appreciate your help

What's the blue lube you use on the solenoids
That is Trans Gel, when the transmission heats up, the grease melts, good stuff.

No, Born, raised in New York
