I love these kind of tuts- Just straight ahead, and directly to the point.... You don't have to watch 40 minutes to get a 4 min. information. thanks alot :)
Also kinda funny 😆 I was soo seriously watching..and suddenly i started laughing how the table cloth is acting too dramatically..crazy..😂🤭..Helped though🤩💫🤓
This video was a great help. Was a little hard to follow as I could not find the Ncloth tool in the new Maya2023. If anyone else had this problem just search for it in the Help box at the top of the screen. This was a good way to quickly get some fabric on my models. Excellent tutorial
Been using Maya for about a year now. I've had experience with Simulations in Blender, so this video was a very good intro for anyone who's in that same boat as me. Showed me exactly where everything I need to know is.
For anyone having the issue where their nCloth keeps passing through the passive collider object at the edges, follow these steps: Select your nClothShape, make sure under the collisions tab that Collision Flag is set to Face. Then 3 sliders below that is the 'Thickness' option. Raise that a bit and your problem should be fixed. One additional measure you can do is to go to the nucleus and try increasing your Substeps from 3 to 4, 5 or 6. Don't go too high as this will affect performance and result in diminishing returns.
Hi Monica, many thanks for your efforts you have taught me something today. On another note in the video " to maintain the shape" 9:04 , there are 3 tools on the Poly Modelling shelf i think they perform the same functions just quicker. Correct me if i'm wrong I am a Maya noob!
Hi Alan, thank you for your comment. Which 3 tools are you writing about? I'm curious! I deleted the history so the connection for the cloth is removed and doesn't simulate. I'm wondering which ones you are mentioned so I can take a look. :)
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Hey Monica, thanks for the reply. These are the 3 Blue tool icons on the Poly Modeling tool shelf. Please do let me know as I don't seem to have seen anyone using these in tutorials. Keep up the great work, much appreciated.
Thanks for your tuto, it's always crystal clear! I have a question though, is there a specific subdivision on maya for cloth like HSDS modifier in 3ds Max, which improve the subdivision (triangles) for cloth purpose?
Thank you for yoru comment, Rajuuken. You can add more mesh after simulation (Mesh>Smooth), in Maya. But if the poly is too low, then the deformation won't be very strong. I hope that helps! :)
Thanks for the video. Picked up a few things. Disappointing is that this and none of the other tutorials I saw, shows how properly remove the simulation from a scene. I always end up with a duplicate of meshes. Does anyone know? Deleting history may be breaking connections, but as you can see, the scene still contains nCloth entities.
I have tried baking the animation and exporting to Unreal Engine, but it doesn't seem to recognize the deformations. Anyone have any luck with importing baked N-Cloth into Unreal without using the built-in physics in the engine? I don't think those are as realistic...
hello Monica, please when you have time make Bifrost tutorials for create more visual effects! I love VFX and you are the best making tutorials then I will be happy if you make some of them :)
I have a single problem and that is i have like 2 fps on very high end system. Something is wrong with my preferences but i cant find out. Your animation is so smooth, what wrong with mine? Drops super slowly dont know how to speed it up...pls reply! :)

How are these new effects? @@AcademicPhoenixPlus Thanks. I hope you're enjoying giving us these good tutorials. I hope you have no idea how helpful you are. I'm sincerely thankful to you for this tutorial from you: ''How to Create Repeating Textures in Maya''. Was very very informative. I know how to uv, but I hate it. What if you dont have an ncloth window and have been trying to add one but it seems to not exist and u can create an ncloth but not a passive collider
I would like to see how you thicken the cloth after applying this method to create wrinkles so I could texture it better :D
extrude

did you find an answer? It feels like it's lagging but actually the animation takes long like over 900 frames for some reason.

why is my animation laggy ? I have a good computer .

whats the difference between friction and stickiness?

hey guys i tried this out but when the cloth lands it appears black in some places? not sure why this is happening. can someone help please :(
its because your blanket is too high poly. those black things you see are the blanket folding in on itself
Thank you :))

hey , 1 question, can dynamic or ncloth be cache in animation?
Yes it can, Zheng! It's under nCache in the FX menu. :)

The dynamics evaluator must disable the evaluation manager due to these unsupported nodes: fluidShape3 fluidEmitter1 rigidSolver
Disable the 'dynamics' evaluator, or remove the nodes, to resume using the evaluation manager.
your scales in the time attribute need adjusting.
