    The big question is what is the best knee board for the new device not the specs of the iPad which most people can find on the web. Many of the existing knee boards have been designed for the old mini which connects to the kneeboard where there was no touch area ( bottom and top ). Those areas have now gone. I notice that you are just using a standard case which is really not going to cut it in a busy cockpit. What is the kneeboard option that people are using?

    Good luck on getting your PPL. Forflight is good to have loaded with your flight plan all set but don’t use it unless you really have to when doing your solo’s for licence. Try to navigate yourself using the Sectional chart and landmarks as much as you can so it will prepare you for your check ride.

    I received an iPad Air, 5th generation, 256, Wi-Fi & cellular for xmas, and wanted to know your thought between that ipad and the iPad mini, and also your thought on using it for flying. I have been using an older full size ipad now for flying and not sure if i should go to the mini or just stay with the slightly larger one. I do use the ipad for everything, work, pleasure, etc, and not just for flying, so to keep that in thought with opinion. Really appreciate your thoughts on this, Thanks Mike.

      A few friends of mine use an iPad Air and like the larger screen size. If I could permanently mount it, I’d go for larger screen size. Since I am mounting it, I like the size of the mini better.
      Sorry for the delayed response.

    • @edima3589
      @edima3589 10 месяцев назад

      I feel this is one of the most important topics for iPad mini use in the cockpit. I use the mini-4 and overheating can become the biggest safety concern when becomming more and more dependent on iPad use in the cockpit (e.g. copying ATIS, IFR flight plan filing, amending, etc.). There are no good third party case options that address this issue well. I've had instances where I'm on the ramp, under the wing trying to cool off my iPad so I could get my IFR flight plan filed. To all GA pilots, be careful in hot weather! IpAD dependency can become a safety inflight issue if you become too dependent on it!!

    Is cellular required for foreflight on the mini 6?

    • @josephs3973
      @josephs3973 Год назад

      Wi-Fi only models do not have a GPS radio since it comes integrated with the cellular chipset. Foreflight will work but you won't get a precise position on the map. As an option, instead of having a cellular enabled iPad, you could buy a Sentry device. It's more money but you also get ADB-S and carbon monoxide monitor in the same device. One advantage of having the cellular chipset (and a data plan) is that you can refresh your weather data on the go.
