Why talking away the joy of beating up your guitar ? I understand that poeple don't want to wait 10 years for their guitar too look like that but there are other ways. I bought a brand new Gibson Les Paul two years ago and man, the joy when you let it slide on the stairs "by accident" or use it to play soft ball. I even used it as a table to rest my feet on it or even to eat. One good thing is to let it rest behind a door so when you open it, it hits the guitar each time a little bit. I even used it as a paddle. Water and humidity is good for your guitar, the most important thing to relic it is the fungus. Rotten wood is the best tone wood you'll ever get.

Pete... the ding in the neck can be easily 'fixed'. It probably won't get it out completely, but most of it. Cover the ding with a moist wash cloth... a thick cloth or fold it once or twice. Then put a iron on it for 10 second and take the iron off and let it cool down a little... repeat this process, although it depends on the kind of wood how many times you have to repeat this. But eventually the compressed wood from the ding will soak up the moisture from the heat and it will start expanding and the ding comes out.

I love guitars that have had the relic treatment. Some people love it, some hate it.
They feel sooo good to play plus you don't have to worry about dinging it! Some people say you should earn the wear but i don't have time for that, especially if I want a heavy relic that will take 50 years worth of playing. I'll be too old or dead to enjoy it ha ha

I might be a shredder metal guy, but I still want pete even demo-ing the shredder stuff. Hell, I want to see what Pete does with Rabea's Baritone. He's spectacular.

I might have already commented on this video in the past, I am not sure😂. Pete‘s playing between 26:40-27:50 is lovely. It is so tasty I cant believe it. I listened to it at least 100 times. The sound of this guitars is unreal.

Very few things in life can compete with the absolute joy of visiting a guitar shop and discovering "the one." Some take 40 years to have that moment. Oh sure, we've all stumbled on guitars that felt great and were immediately desirable but all of them take a backseat when you ultimately find that one guitar that you swear was made just for you. I'm happy to see that Pete found his Excalibur.

I used to not understand why relics existed until I played a relic strat with an anodized pick guard and immediately understood exactly why some people love relics. It’s a feel thing, like playing through a tube amp, you can’t really describe it easily to people who haven’t experienced it before.

A week late to the conversation, but the Andertons RUclips channel probably isn't making them an excessive amount of money. With 95 million total views, at approximately $2000 revenue per million (the paid amount could be *much* less), that's maybe $190,000 (£135,000) across 10 years. When you consider the production costs of these videos including staff, the Andertons shop itself must have made many, many times the profits. But they're two sides of the same coin, I buy my gear from Andertons *because* the RUclips channel sold me on the Andertons brand (plus they'll usually price match any other retailer...).
