    Enjoyed watching this. Zoe Kravitz is a beauty! It baffles me that with all the access to dermatologists and estheticians that celebrities have, they still under-apply sunscreen. You would think they have a derm advising them about sun protection being key!!! Everything else is useless without it.

      Smoking plain tobacco isn't that much worse than the 4 sodas & processed snacks most ppl eat. Our bodies can easily filter out so many toxins, how bad can a few cigs be when factored in with high quality food & over all nutrition? I'm sure it doesn't make sense to most people who are gonna read this, McDonald's 3 times every week with 24 cans of soda is prob part of their diet they consider healthy.

      @Abena Addai Yes essential oils are bad for your skin! Although a lot of people can tolerate fragranced products (thank you skin barrier) fragrance and essential oils are mainly comprised of phenols, aromatic ketones, aldehydes, terpenes, aromatic alcohols, etc. which are all allergens and skin irritants.

    • @LOVELYHAIRR

      @Abena Addai no essential oils are not bad for you if you’re getting them from a perfectly sourced verified organic place don’t listen to these people they don’t know what the hell there’s a stigma with essential oils because it’s natural it’s from the freaking soil it is sun sourced and people are after essential oils were there they’re in candles skin care there’s just hate on essential oils because it is nature-based just like there’s hate on people who are vegan because they prefer to eat some sort of food rather than food from a walking living breathing carcass

      @@halleanjou6390 Please enlighten me then. Are you saying essential oils aren't made of those compounds? Because solely based on that statement you're already incorrect, because they are in fact made of many of those things. Also you're implying one of the largest sources of irritant contact dermatitis is somehow good for your skin, or? It's literally plant extracts (which can already be irritating) concentrated down and put in a carrier oil. Some of the chemical compounds may have minor benefits to the skin, but it's not a pure substance and also contains a bunch of irritants and by-products from the plant that have no benefit or actually have detriment to the skin.

    • @CJM279
      @CJM279 3 года назад +10

      @@chloecamp8714 I went to school for nutrition, but I don’t claim to know everything. Your body DOES detoxify on its own, however you can do certain things to SUPPORT your body in that process, such as drinking enough water, eating fruits and vegetables, plenty of fiber, and more. But you cannot eat a diet that will detoxify your body just from eating it because your body is already doing that. And the detox diet Zoe mentioned isn’t necessary in order to help your body with that because you can eat healthy year-round rather than do a fruit and vegetable only meal plan for one week out of the year or whatever she said 😅. As for people with disease, the diet still isn’t going to completely (or at all) fix whatever health condition they have such as liver disease, but it could help. Like, you can’t eat a certain way and detoxify since your liver isn’t working properly, so those people suffer from their body not working at optimal function. I never said the liver ALWAYS WORKS. Just like any other body part.

    I think there are some positive things to say about people who go for the “clean” beauty brands because I believe there are a lot of good intentions to use products that are less harmful to the environment as well. I appreciate people’s willingness and intent to do that, but I don’t appreciate brands who monetize on that to put people in a false sense of being “safer”. To use more natural ingredients does not always mean they are better for the planet. Oil, led and viper venom are naturally occurring in nature but I wouldn’t put that on my face. It’s annoying me that so many brands are greenwashing to attract people with good intentions

But to your point about ‘consistency’, I think a lot of people know their environment and many of their products can have some toxic effects, so they are changing what they can in their life. People often just want to switch out some skincare and house cleaning products to maybe lighten the load. Just because I can’t move out to the country doesn’t mean I won’t make some changes here and there. That doesn’t make me inconsistent, it just means I do what I can. Let me live, Susan! 😂❤️

    If you are eating a "cleaner" diet meaning eating more whole foods and avoiding processed and packaged foods with no "toxins" like smoking and alcohol, then I think personal body sweat doesn't smell as much if you were eating the "SAD" diet (American Standard Diet) then I think sweat will have more of an "odor" that stinks. This has been my personal experience using natural deodorants on the SAD diet vs. a whole foods diet and my body odor. We are all different, and our work, environment, lifestyle, relationships, stresses, hormones, and chemical balance all play a role in what products work and don't work.
    *Also, getting plenty of water, sleep, activity, and less stress throughout the week is a part of that cleaner lifestyle.

      @@isabellalara8823 normally products like that aren't properly tested. Sunscreen is a drug and therefore requires testing and a drug label (as well as active ingredients) and often those sun butters/balms/etc are made with "all natural" ingredients and don't actually contain UV filters.

    I kinda disagree with the natural deodorant argument. Personally, it works for me and many family members and friends love it. It does stop odor and I always smell very good. Although, it does not work for everyone and it’s VERY hard to find one good:) I think it works for her so that’s why she uses it and that it’s natural. She’s not just slathering vanilla cream under pits, because it most likely works for her. I just don’t aluminum period. I rather not put that on my body knowing it could be harmful in very high dosages and that the rumors could or could not be true.

    I struggle with the phrasing “should technically be safe for you”… because, talc powder was considered a really big part of health and beauty but is discovered to cause cancer and other problems over time. If NYC is dirty, why add more junk to yourself if you can control certain things. I’m on the fence honestly, so I partially agree with you. Everything is trying to kill us at the end or the day so I guess just live it up haha

    I commented this on the Vogue video, but I hated her implying how aluminum could cause breast cancer. 1. There is no concrete, scientific evidence correlating aluminum to cancer. The worst part is companies now profit off of this fear mongering and celebrities endorse the rhetoric by this very means. She said this to over a million impressionable people. Instead of taking the time to research, she chose to spread false information. 2. How is she going to be concerned about aluminum when she smokes cigs...Which ARE proven to cause lung cancer...I love Zoë, I do, but this video left a poor taste in my mouth.

      This has ben debunked. Sumscreen ingredients haven't shown significant damage for marine life. Just use whatever sunscreen works best for you. That's the right one. And if you're truly worried and want to help with the environmental crisis you can vote for better representatives, pressure authorities, donate and volunteer, participate with local initiatives, stay informed, etc. That's more useful than worrying about what single ingredient in your sunscreen is "toxic".

    I’m super late to this video, but I wanted to comment about the aluminum in deodorant debate. Whether or not you’re concerned about the health issues, aluminum is the reason why your deodorant can yellow your white shirts, which is a huge issue for me. I started using the Dove 0% aluminum deodorant, and even though it most definitely does not last the 48 hours it claims to, it does control odor for me for at least the day. So for me, it works better than any of the natural deodorants I’ve tried and it has less waxes that are difficult to get off (and were clogging my razor, etc.).
