After a roller coaster of warm and cold weather on the northern gulf coast, GCN finally found a favorable weather window holding all the components that pointed towards a good night of shark fishing! A few hours after getting baits out, they had one rod have a small shark pick up the bait. After a close inspection, they knew the shark had dropped the bait, but moments later, the rod next to them would go off and their life as it was would never be the same.

If you mean drag wise this is 60 pounds of drag at strike haha. This girl was RUNNING- be sure to checkout other videos. We be sure to use high drag and get em in fast. Just some big fish don't like to do that immediately 😒

What I do for some extra security is to splice on hollow core one size bigger than the mainline on the entire length that gets yaked out, therefore only very little or no mono, the heavier braid is strong enough for all impact force, as long as you're drags are smooth you don't need mono
That would be a very long splice! haha braid doesn't take abrasion compared to mono. Interesting approach though!

we live in south Texas , and that is one of the reasons we use a 6feet at the bottom of the fishing rack. so that it is harder for the line to rub on the sand .
Our bars our not as bad as yours for sure! Just unlucky

@@GulfCoastNation I personally never gone to pins , even though I know where it is at , we go to South Padre Island , pins is in north padre island. And yes pins has way better bigger sharks than south Padre.

That was a great video. Every fisherman out there has felt a similar disappointment. Fishing is a numbers game - the more you fish the better your odds of landing that giant. Keep putting baits out there and you’ll land plenty of big boys on video. Keep taking us along for the ride :-).

Ugh that fucking hurts. Seen it happen to a buddy, something smacked half of a cownose ray (roughly 15lb chunk) as soon as he set the hook it ran him down to the water and proceeded to spool 500yds of line. Literally ran the spool dry. He still wont talk about it 😂🤣😂 happened maybe 3-4 yrs ago

Gulf Coast Nation I actually have a question. I know nothing about shark fishing. Is there some kind of quick release for the rod while in the harness? That shark would’ve pulled me right in. 🤣
Haha there is not! You are strapped in! BUT when we take clients out, we always have someone in front!! We have had some lady anglers catch some giant sharks! Everyone needs a spotter though!

what lb line you use, whats ur drag at strike
This reel is spooled with 1000 yards of 200lb 12 strand hollow core braid and has a topshot of 200lb mono.
We set our 130 size reels to have 65 pounds of drag at strike. Definitely need a spotter!
How much is that rod with rollers n without rollers ??
Not sure on pricing- we had it built by Micheal Holt. We didn't have it priced without rollers

What lb line was that on? A little to much heat on him.
It was 200 pound braid to 200 pound mono! Not too much heat! We have put more pressure than that on a shark before! Had a swim through by another shark! It happens!

Haha that shark was WAAAYYYYY out there the entire fight! Since the spool was so low it is hard to say exactly but somewhere around 50-60 pounds we would guess!
Dylan definitely wasn't able to hold it all on his own until he was laid all the back! Haha
Oh my god...Nice catch and all, but seriously, no joke, I think you just caught a ghost on camera guys! It looks like someone is running on the beach at 6:30 and 6:35....HOLY SMOKES IT LOOKS LIKE 2 PEOPLE CHASING EACH OTHER!!!!! Look at the white apparition running from your sand spike on the right to the left of the screen!! OMG!!!
Edit: After rewatching it appears there are more than 5 apparitions...holy smokes!!!!!!

Gulf Coast Nation 100% !!! My wife suggested that it was sand, so we slowed it down to .25 speed and watching her jaw drop was amazing haha 😂 OH! I caught my first good sized shark tonight. It was a 5’5 Bignose Shark and it weighed around 75-85 lbs
Had this happen on my biggest tiger 20ft off the beach. She bit straight through the steel cable :(
