    Quick suggestion: put a short line with a weight below the camera. You'll still feel the bottom but keep the camera out of the sand. I've also had success putting a trailing vane on the camera to keep it oriented while filming rivers and streams. Cheers

      Put a go-pro mount atop a 1 to 3 lb., flat Lead, scuba diving weight. It will usually sit up right in the sand, and not move in the waves. Angle the camera to view the fish.

      Quick suggestion: build a submarine and attach a 360 camera on it, fill it with enough fule to cruise around the ocean for a few hours, then post the footage for me to see. It might be very expensive but good luck.
      And this footage was great, thanks

    Nice "under the sea" footage. Shark appears to be a black tip but there looked to be some bulls too. Thanks for your hard work and effort to make us land based fisherman get off our butts and go 🎣...while the yard is in need of sprucing up. Remember...all work and no play makes for a dull memory. We need to give ourselves the ok to go fishing or hiking or whatever makes us happy. Plan fun in your day as much as you plan work and chores...keep it a balanced diet. You do this very well and it shows
    . Looking forward to your next adventure!

    The "Name This Species of Shark" around 10:34, and I'm no expert, but it appears to be a Sandbar Shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus). That high dorsal fin and pronounced dorsal ridge are characteristic.

      My first guess was a dusky. The dorsal looks like it's posterior to the pectoral, but it's hard to tell from that angle. The pec and the dorsal are very large like a sandbar though, so I'm seconding your guess on the sandbar.

I’ve come home to my house before and found food on my front doorstep from a neighbor whom I’d helped out the day before. I was very glad I didn’t need to go out and get anything that night. Definitely think one was looking alot like a Bull, the awesome close up of one really showing a longer nose and appeared larger than most black tips, and my feeling is that it was an Atlantic reef shark since didn't see a distinct black pattern on the top fins. Probably has several different names but just the bigger, farther traveling cousin of the typical little black tip.

      It’s crazy I’m from West “Philly” Philadelphia. I come from a terrible neighborhood. I was blessed and fortunate that I was really really good in football by highschool. My Uncle so happened to move to Alabama from Philly back in 2000. Alabama has some of the best high school/ college football programs so my Uncle Showed the coaches my tapes and they begged me to play for them. At that time ESPN was filming at the highschool. It was called Two a days. I was fortunate enough to get the chance to get out the hood. I was in Hoover, Alabama. I was So afraid and nervous to move down there because i expected the worse. Dirt roads, EXTREME Racism, all farming plantations, etc…. No it was Faaaar from my expectations. That was the BEST decision i could have ever made as a Teenager. It’s a TOTALLY different world from Philly, In a good way.. I met some of the best people down there, life long friends and memories. Sad part is I wound getting Two VERY serious injuries one year after another that the doctors told me i couldnt play football anymore bcuz it’s to Physical due to the multiple bone diseases I was diagnosed with. I said all that just to say I lived there for 2 yrs and never knew there were beaches out there until Years after i moved.I Def didn’t know about a pier in Alabama. Next time i go visit i’m most def going. I currently live back up North but i def have plans to eventually move back dow south. If not Alabama, back to Atlanta where i moved to for 1 1/2 yrs. after moving from Alabama. love the vids bro. keep working 🙏🏾💪🏾💪🏾

    As for the sharks, one was a bull, a sandbar, and I believe there's a lemon at the end. Almost thought Silke, but they prefer deeper waters and unless really hungry, are quite camera shy.
    Terrific video. Love your videos and terrific knowledge bombs you drop. I absolutely love sharks and I'd love to free dive with a great white. They're vastly misunderstood and finally we're seeing videos of people who dove with white sharks without worry or free. Respect the ocean and it'll respect you back.
    Sharks are puppy dogs. Bites are failed hug attempts.

    • @hanmac3348
      @hanmac3348 2 года назад

      I am fairly certain they were blacktips. Bull sharks usually are solitary and those didn't look as big or stocky as bulls. I was thinking sandbar or lemon as well but sandbar have taller dorsal fins and lemon sharks have much smaller dorsal fins. I was also thinking dusky but there are parts where u can briefly see the black on the fins like 9:52 10:36 and 11:05
      Maybe there were more than one species but it didn't seem like it. The visibility was also not great and it was a bit hard to determinethe size, but that's what I got from it lol. And blacktips travel in groups as well.

    • @BamaSaltwater
      @BamaSaltwater  2 года назад

      That's what I'm thinking as well. There's usually some spinners mixed in too. and I used to use sabikis all of the time (when the pier was whole)! Alabama also allows the use of the Ribbon Rigs as well.

    My wife and I harassed Bama while he was on the pier :)
    I caught some pompano and she caught some spade fish. The sharks were unbelievable, there were ALWAYS ten or more to be counted & all of them were big. I caught a 12” flounder (not big enough to keep) and when I threw him back a shark came out from under the pier and inhaled it like a bass eats a minnow.
    RIP lil flounder :(
