Hi, nice job. This might be a good idea for future show, you can replace that cork gasket with a genuine VW upgrade of 026198025C (you can put this number into eBay and find it). This is a kit including a 1 piece rubber gasket and new studs to suit. This kit is used on the mk3 onwards 1.6 and 1.8 petrol engines. I found this out from a friendly VW parts person when I was a mechanic back in the day and it also works on the 1.6D and 1.6TD mk2 golfs, etc. It may be twice the price but you only need to do it once. Hope this makes your life easier
