    I have a Cameo 4, it's my first ever cutter and I LOVE it, when I have the Bluetooth issue, I tap the button off for a couple seconds , turn it back on and it reconnects easily.

  • @xConundrumx
    @xConundrumx 2 года назад +26

    As for the BT problem, it is a bluetooth dongle. On the underside of the cutter is a little compartment with a lid held in by a single screw. In that compartment is the dongle in a bog standard USB connector. You can open the compartment, take out the default dongle and get just about any other generic BT 4.0 (maybe even BT 5.0) dongle and put that in there. Seems like the ones that come with the cutter are just a bit iffy.

    I returned my cricut 3 and got a cameo 4 plus, already liking it way better. Cricut doesn’t let u use other brand roles since it only takes 13 inch so that was the deal breaker.

    Have you adjusted the rollers to hold your vinyl to keep it from moving? My guess is you did not move in the rollers to hold your vinyl and that is why it isn't cutting straight. Just a thought. It really is worth it to upgrade to the Designer software so that you can cut any svg!

  • @helenparker1870
    @helenparker1870 Год назад +2

    At least they let you use other software with the machine, Make the Cut, Sure Cuts a Lot 5, can be used if you do not like the Silhouette Studio software. You can also buy a plug in for Illustrator and CorelDraw from Silhouette. I factored in the price of the software with the machine and it still came out cheaper than the Scan n Cut or Cricut machines ( both of these machines use proprietary software and you need to be on line to create designs). The Cricut took years before they even provided an offset function in their software, and there are many examples of people on RUclips designing in Silhouette Studio Designer/ Business editions and exporting svg files for use in these other machines because the software is much more user friendly. The free software is aimed at hobby crafters who often but their designs and just want to be able to cut quickly. If you want to run a business with this machine buy the business edition of the software, it will let you best items to make the best use of your vinyl and run cuts on multiple machines simultaneously.

    Lol I thought I was the only one who thought those exact same things! I have to move my Cameo closer to my computer for connectivity…however it is 12’ away….but yes always have issues even when it’s closer. And the ruler SHOULD be a must. Even basic Word has a view with rulers…and that crazy tray is about worthless. Because the cutting action involves forward AND backward motions and my roll of vinyl gets bubbles in it….and the tray doesn’t lock or comes unlocked…I have to sit there and watch it cut to keep it straight. May invest in the 24” mat as I like to cut big things.

    Have you figured out where the repeat button is on the actual machine like the cameo three had a repeat button when you were doing jobs that were the same. You didn’t have to come back to your computer to do it. You could do it right from the machine itself now there’s not that option that I can find on the machine.

    The ruler thing was definitely a dealbreaker for me. Not that I think I won’t be able to manage without it, but it’s the principle. If they just didn’t have the feature I’d be fine but to charge people for what should come standard is too much.

    • @joeltnguyen
      @joeltnguyen  3 года назад +2

      It's literally a basic feature on all design programs. I spent 30 mins trying to find it when I found out you needed the paid app HAH. It's not all bad though because you can still set your page size and that way you know how big your design is, etc.
