RIP Tony. You were here just a couple weeks before you decided enough time had passed. It's an honor to have my location as one of the last few you done. Talk to people when your mind is having trouble people. None of us should have to leave earth like this.
neil degrasse tyson and anthony bourdain together? how the hell did i not hear about this before? how did the universe not blow up from the awesomeness?
Huge amount of respect for both of these guys. Especially for Bourdain when he talked about respecting where your food came from and not wasting the ingredient.
I spent 20 years in kitchens, read all of Bourdains books and love the interview you had with him. Although I am not in the service industry any longer I try to this day to help people understand the science behind the scenes of food and love this Startalk. Neil you the Man
Still Cant believe it. Your shows brings a shine of light when things go dark for me.. Rest in Peace Anthony Bourdain and thank you for the inspirations
Had to come back to this video because it mixed two of my favorite celebrities. Can't believe he's gone. I'm utter shocked and beyond sadness. First, Bocuse and now him. Please,world..let the icon momentum going for a while, don't take them oh so soon.
Bourdain mentioned the bitter component in the Philippines. Very true. We have dishes like 'papaitan' where bile is literally the main ingredient in the dish, and we love the vegetable ampalaya (bitter gourd) which is excellent in combating symptoms of diabetes.
I appreciate Anthony's remarks regarding Vegans at 10:35 and his perspective on gaining knowledge and understanding about the meat we consume at 20:06. It's not merely a piece of steak or a hamburger; it goes beyond that. If one had to raise their own cattle and personally participate in the process of slaughter, there would likely be greater respect and appreciation for the animals we consume. People should strive to be more self-aware about the meat we consume today. It's disheartening how a multitude of animals are being mass-slaughtered due to our unrestrained meat consumption, often in inhumane and tormenting environments
Your posting should have a lot more likes. Perhaps many Americans listens to what Anthony has to say about facing the animal that you're going to eat or at least being aware of cruel farming conditons and they say "Yeah, Yeah", and it goes in one ear and out the other. I'm not a vegan but a first class carivore.
I love the wisdom and soul the Anthony speaks with. I love Neil too of course, but specifically I love what Anthony talks about here. He speaks from such a place of truth and transcendence. I wish more people would uncover and develop that side of themselves. The world would be a better place..
I can't believe I haven't seen this before. I was looking for Bourdain tributes and heard about it, and I love me some NDT. RIP my brother, this planet lost one of the most insightful human beings to ever live. :(
RIP Anthony Bourdain... your are one of a kind and are my personal favorite TV personality to date, loved the fact that his taste of both food and music are both mine as well, well maybe not exactly food but definitely music at least
Neil and Eugene are 2 opposite sides of the philosophically enriched mind. 💙 Anthony had a perspective of the world few were privlaged to... And even fewer learned from his legacy. Thank you Anthony. May your legend never die. 🔥💙💜
I totally enjoyed the conversation at the end. It touches base on how Diverse the tool "Goldie Locks Zone" is in reality. How water boils differently at different altitudes, our liquid water sits in a zone starting under it, and stretching high into the sky(depending on the number of total molecules balancing across the center of mass). It would be in a completely different state without this region being "Goldie Locks". There are so many things in reality that require a balanced environment like that. The Electrons line up in a boundary held together by Electromagnetic regions.
I was once sipping an ice-cold beer in a Bangkok bar, the sanctuary of choice for anyone studying the local fauna and flora. I caught sight of a frisky Frenchman teasing a local Thai lady with a tranch of Epoisses cheese dangled in front of her face. The doughty lady fled in terror, the cheese's malodorous character causing her to bolt in a whoosh...
I recognize the professor of nutrition. She came out in a few moments in Spurlock's classic film, Super Size Me!! The intertwining moments with Bourdain are pretty interesting as well. I watched his entire No Reservations series and now a fan of Parts Unknown.
I have a newly found appreciation for Anthony (I've seen his regular show.. not a fan of watching people eat...); I really didn't think of him as a knowledge bank of culinary tricks, but surely (due to his show) he knows better than most about food and it's meshing with culture (something I don't often think of going together).
I see similarities between Lou Reed and Anthony Bourdain: background, sensibilities, innovation, finding your niche, dislikes, punk-edginess… etc. (Even looks!) They have a lot in common as I’ve read (semi-studied) their lives, output, influence. I admire them both!
NDT and Bourdain are two of my favorite people, but the format of this show is terrible. "Let's inturrupt this great interview to have and interview about another interview." Who produces this show? X-zibit? "I heard you like interviews so I put an interview in your interview so you can interview while you interview."
this format could be good but the commentary in the studio must be done correctly. no talking over the other. no rushing. possibly edited to offer the best commentary.
Damn, Eugene, every, every time he opens his mouth I laughed out so loud. Such a cool funny guy. Great for the show, great to have him. And Anthony and Dr. Nestle ... Great guests so interesting to hear from and listen to, just as my favorite, Neil, always seems to be.
At 19:58 when he said "I would punch an animal, I would murder it with my fist", I laughed so hard. That old lady looked shocked and Neil looked like he was just trying not to laugh.
I really miss Anthony Bourdain traveling the world, eating great cuisine, drinking with all the wonderful people and cultures. I do not believe he committed suicide. RIP
Hey, it would be really awesome if there will be a Star Talk show on the science of wine! I think this is of considerable correlation to many discoveries in science as a cork-popping of wine usually followed suit :)
From the age of 7, I was raised in the countryside and the first time I saw a pig slaughtered, I felt like shit for eating meat. Worse than that, I saw the pig as a friend (laugh all you want, it's all right) so it was traumatizing moment for a city born 7 year old boy. Back then, vegetarianism or veganism were mostly unknown, so although I still eat meat, I hate people who love the eat a steak but won't eat tripe or blood pudding because it's deem disgusting. And I eat small amounts of meat, a couple of times a week and preferably from sustainable sources. Bourdain was one of a dying breed. Free thinker, honest, f*** the establishment, amazing and a true champion of food discovery.
I remember Anthony on RUclips when No Reservations was on. This guy clicked with me. When I pass from this place, I want to meet Anthony Bourdain than anyone else. Only family do I want to meet up as much. Let's have some pork and ice cold beer baby!
Great episode, I'm really digging this as a companion to the podcast. I would love to see a round table with everyone from this episode + Alton Brown on a revisit. And CaptainJazz262, you are wrong, Eugene Mirman is awesome and he's the perfect cohost because he knows the kind of stuff that will trip up the average listener and will bring up questions in a funny way. Stop being a hater and focus on the stuff you like.
If you worked as a chef in restaurant, a very fast-paced restaurant like what Bourdain did. You will get scolded if they found you using thermometer to check whether the steak is medium-rare or not. Their advice is basically like every homecook moms, "put your finger on that steak, check the meat." That's all. It's a play of your senses and not depending on technology.
Neill deGrasse Tyson has nicely stepped onto the path started by other great scientists such as Carl Sagan and is a joy to watch and listen to...I just wish he wouldn't talk over his guests.
RIP Tony. You were here just a couple weeks before you decided enough time had passed. It's an honor to have my location as one of the last few you done.

neil degrasse tyson and anthony bourdain together? how the hell did i not hear about this before? how did the universe not blow up from the awesomeness?
Agreed
my thoughts excatly
You're right, it expanded, it didn't "explode."
Idiot
fuck off
"That interview, I just became so enchanted by him, I feel like I've known him my whole life" Niel DeGrasse Tyson on Anthony Bourdain.
That was striking to say the least.
Huge amount of respect for both of these guys. Especially for Bourdain when he talked about respecting where your food came from and not wasting the ingredient.
RIP Anthony❤️

A rare find and gem with two great people. Damn I miss Anthony.
Love it when I realise I've stumbled on a RUclips gem; two of my favourite people in conversation. Suddenly it's happy hour!
Had to come back to this video because it mixed two of my favorite celebrities. Can't believe he's gone. I'm utter shocked and beyond sadness. First, Bocuse and now him. Please,world..let the icon momentum going for a while, don't take them oh so soon.

So many years later and this was on my RUclips recommendations...we miss you Anthony 🥂
Anthony Bourdain is one of the coolest dudes of all time
I appreciate Anthony's remarks regarding Vegans at 10:35 and his perspective on gaining knowledge and understanding about the meat we consume at 20:06. "Professionals learn through getting it wrong, getting it wrong, getting it wrong, getting it wrong, starting to get it right, getting it right"
Astrophysicist meets Chef/Author/TV Star - you ROCK!
I love the wisdom and soul the Anthony speaks with. I love Neil too of course, but specifically I love what Anthony talks about here. He speaks from such a place of truth and transcendence. I wish more people would uncover and develop that side of themselves. The world would be a better place..
One of the most informative interviews I have ever seen. And not from RUclips bloggers but from respected professionals.
I can't believe I haven't seen this before. I was looking for Bourdain tributes and heard about it, and I love me some NDT. RIP my brother, this planet lost one of the most insightful human beings to ever live. :(
I swear in response to this, I would LOVE to see him interview and talk to Alton Brown. I could listen to that for hours.
Isn't it amazing that a man with such vast knowledge could be interested in topics like food? A true thinker Dr. Tyson is.
two of my favorite human beings. RIP tony.
Whatever differences we have. Food is one thing that brings us together.
I miss Anthony Bourdain, all the way from Ethiopia.
Is this real life? Anthony Bourdain and Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Just so much awesomeness.
Awesome video ! Anthony Bourdane and Neil deGrasse Tyson are 2 of my favorite people .
RIP Anthony Bourdain... your are one of a kind and are my personal favorite TV personality to date, loved the fact that his taste of both food and music are both mine as well, well maybe not exactly food but definitely music at least
RIP Anthony Bourdain ☹️
Tony was a true ambassador of the United States.
Most entertaining and interesting episode. Thank you, Nerdist. Anthony Bourdain is always a joy to listen to.
The Tyson - Bourdain bromance is the stuff we live for.
Neil and Eugene are 2 opposite sides of the philosophically enriched mind. 💙 Anthony had a perspective of the world few were privlaged to... And even fewer learned from his legacy. Thank you Anthony. May your legend never die. 🔥💙💜
DeGrassi and Bourain, epic. 2 of my most favorite people
those are two totally different folks.
StarTalk is amazing! Keep up the great work.

This is the least expected, yet awesomest group of people ever together in a video.
Eugene Mirman, Neil Degrasse Tyson, and Anthony Bourdain in one show... hell ya.
Eugene is cracking me up for this whole thing. Just reconfirmed how much I love him on Bob's Burgers.
Two of my favorite individuals in one video...perfect.
Bourdain: we tend to like crispy
Tyson: (yeahhhh)
We are so lucky to have lived when Anthony Bourdain did.
Two of my favorite people: Tyson and Bordain

What A Beautiful Being
Anthony Bourdain
I love this show so much, simply because I learn something new every time.
I just saw this lady on a Amazon prime video. Holy Chicken! Came here for Anthony..I miss him.😥
Great vid,2 of my favorites,Bourdain rules. And great info as always!!!!
I recognize the professor of nutrition. She came out in a few moments in Spurlock's classic film, Super Size Me!!
The intertwining moments with Bourdain are pretty interesting as well. I watched his entire No Reservations series and now a fan of Parts Unknown.
anything dr. tyson does is golden...he just genuinely makes me happy
Loved re-watching
Two of my favorite people on the planet!
Loved the interview portions, but found the cuts back to the studio roundtable to be mostly useless.
Oh man, everything about this is so awesome.
“If you’re eating meat, it’s a dead animal”.
“Go on Neal....”
Laughed out loud.
Two of my favorite people

lol I'm so glad I read that book... #Herbert

This is now my life mantra.

Thanks, I didn't know that he has been doing these radio talk shows for years!
Two of my favorite people together.
2 of my top 10 writers/thinkers/celebrities.
This is what public access TV used to be like, you never knew who in the hell would be interviewed, could be the mayor, could be a bus driver.
Super interesting conversation. How I wish I could do this. I will do this. And you'll know different things, different mindset.
Two of my favorite people, whom I never thought I'd see together.
Really enjoyed the show Eugene was hilarious thank you for asking and breaking down the science talk. 👍🏼
NDT and Bourdain are two of my favorite people, but the format of this show is terrible. "Let's inturrupt this great interview to have and interview about another interview."

Two of my Best Guys
2 of the most interesting men in the modern culture.

That's exactly what I said when I saw the video title! I love StarTalk.
Two of the most interesting men on the planet in one place, I LOVE IT!
Wow, these shows are awesome!
Anthony Bourdain was, and is the true focus of this video
I LOVE LISTENING TO NEIL!
this should be the late show or a morning talk show on the local channels (love star talk)
Great interview!!!
Huge respect for Anthony and his position on ethical meat eating.
I really miss Anthony Bourdain traveling the world, eating great cuisine, drinking with all the wonderful people and cultures. I do not believe he committed suicide. RIP
Neil's chest hair game is on point

"we like crispy" 5:48 Neil's face is like "shoot yeah we do" xD
Wow love these two guys and their point of views
Where can we see the whole interview with Anthony Bourdain?
This was absolutely great.
I remember Anthony on RUclips when No Reservations was on. This guy clicked with me. When I pass from this place, I want to meet Anthony Bourdain than anyone else. Only family do I want to meet up as much. Let's have some pork and ice cold beer baby!
Thank you for this. So sad that Bourdain is gone.
I really like this one❤❤❤ sharing
awesome show!
I haven't even started the video and I already hit the like button.
Cool! Really enjoyed it!
great show. I am a huge fan!!!!!
I didn't like Eugene on the first few shows, but he has definitely learned to tone it down. LOVE watching these.
Two awesome, smart, funny and down to earth people.
Great episode, I'm really digging this as a companion to the podcast. I would love to see a round table with everyone from this episode + Alton Brown on a revisit.

Gotta love Eugene man!
A pleasure at always to watch/listen to startalk :) Although this wasn't *star*talk, it still featured Neil and Eugene :D
